Chapter 181: In My Heart You Are The Champion

Cassie could see a dazzling display of the night sky. Her gaze lingered on the exposed flesh on Aryana’s upper back. It was V-shaped and not totally bare as strips of translucent dark fabric criscrossed on her back creating an alluring look. She pursed her lips as she watched Aryana walk on the ramp like a professional with years of experience.

The audience was silent as their eyes were glued to the bewitching figure on the stage. Aryana was not smiling at all. She kept a serious and powerful aura which was what the gown required. When she reached the end of the ramp, she paused longer while looking at the five judges. She did a quarter turn to show the them every angle of the gown.

When she had her back to the audience, she heard gasps. She faced the audience once again still keeping the mysterious look.

Someone in the audience cannot take it anymore. She clapped. It was a slow but loud clapped. Soon everyone joined and the audience was in an uproar.

Aryana was confused, but before she lost her composure, she turned around and walked back toward the back of the stage. She met Cassie’s eyes for a few seconds and she could see anger and hatred in them.

Aryana exited the stage and went down to look for Vince and Elaine and she sat beside them while watching Cassie walk on the ramp like a queen. Aryana frowned when she noticed that Cassie was looking at only one particular spot. She was looking at Erik with eyes full of longing.

Aryana pursed her lips and looked at Erik. She met his gaze and she blushed. Erik was not looking at Cassie at all but he was looking at her. Aryana smiled at him before looking away.

"Aryana, you are so awesome. You looked so beautiful and the audience just loved you." Elaine started blabbering.

"Stop with your nonsense." Aryana reprimanded her. "It is because the dress and the gown were both beautiful." She shifted her gaze to Vince. "Well done Vince. Whatever the result tonight, I can say that you did a very good job." Aryana looked at Vince warmly.

Vince’s eyes reddened. He was pleasantly surprised when he saw the reaction of the audience. They were mesmerized. He was hoping that it was not only because of Aryana but also because of the clothes.

"It is you who did pretty well. Now I am not really confident whether the audience loved my work or they love the person who wore them."

"Of course, they like your clothes. Just check CoChi’s website and see how many already placed their bid for the gown."

Vince was paying attention to Cassie. He heard that the designer was the famous Dulce. Cassie’s gown was very beautiful and Vince felt nervous. But based on the reaction of the audience, he felt that the audience liked his design more than that of Dulce.

The fashion show ended. A famous singer entertained them with a beautiful song. The people seated beside Aryana, however, did not enjoy the song because they feel they were sitting on needles.

Aryana chuckled. "Are you all nervous?"

"Who wouldn’t be nervous? Oh my gosh, I cannot take it anymore, I will go to the washroom." Elaine hurriedly left.

When the song was finished, one of the organizers of the fashion show went up the stage with the results in his hand.

"The grand winner for the Casual Wear category is...." the announcer paused and gave an air of suspense. The designers who participated held their breath. "Vince from CoChi."

Aryana smiled brightly. Jessa was so ecstatic she jumped and hugged Vince not minding that there were so many people around.

"Go up and receive your award." Aryana urged Vince.

"Let’s go together," Vince said and he did not give Aryana any room to disagree.

Vince and Aryana went up the stage together. She let Vince receive the trophy. Along with the cash prize of 500,000. Aryana looked at Erik and she beamed happily at him. Erik smiled back. Her smile disappeared when she saw Cassie sit beside Erik. She was shameless enough to ask the man seated beside Erik to give her the seat.

Her attention was brought back to the stage when Vince tugged at her. They went down the stage. Vince was still feeling high from the award.

"Thank you for this opportunity, Aryana. Without you, my talent could have been a waste." Vince said softly while they settled back into their seat.

Everyone was waiting for the announcement of the winner of the best gown design. For this particular category, the top three will receive trophies and cash prizes.

The third prize winner was announced. The announcer was about to reveal the name of the second-prize winner when Elaine came back from the restroom.

"You are such a killjoy. You missed the awarding for the best in Casual Wear."

"We won?" Elaine asked in anticipation.

"Of course, we won!" Jessa announced proudly. How can she not be proud when it was her husband who won?

"And now, let’s announce the second prize winner." The host said over the microphone.

Vince clutched Jessa’s hand too tightly that she was hurt. But she did not complain. She knew, Vince very well, and right now Vince was very nervous that her palm is sweating.

"The second prize winner for the gown design competition is the entry called Galaxy at Night by Vince from CoChi. I would like to request the designer and her model to go up the stage to receive the prize."

"Congratulations, Vince. I thought you would win tonight’s competition but then, this is only your first time joining and the second prize is not as bad as you think." Aryana comforted him. "But in my heart, you are the champion."

Vince nodded. Of course who wouldn’t want to be a champion? But Aryana was right. His first attempt already yielded results beyond his imagination.

The designer and model went up the stage side by side. Vince was also a good-looking man. A lot of women eyed him interestingly.

"Congratulations to you young man for being the second prize winner." The host said warmly before passing the trophy and the cash prize of 250,000 to Vince. "You got a very beautiful model which displayed the essence of your creation."
