Chapter 173: Blame Her For Their Low Score

"Let’s begin. I’ll go first." Rhia volunteered.

She released the ball and five pins were knocked down. For her second throw, two pins were knocked down.

"I am not really that good. This is all I can do." She scratched her head.

Cassie took a ball. She has good form and when she released the ball it was a strike.

"Great job Cassie." Erik complimented Cassie and gave her a high five.

Aryana noticed it and she could see it wasn’t the first time Erik and Cassie played bowling together.

Aryana took a ball. She hasn’t bowled for a long time and was a bit rusty. When she released the ball, her hand twisted a bit and the ball kept rolling at the center of the lane, but when it was near the pins it changed direction and went to the gutter.

Cassie gloated inside. "I had the same experience when I was just starting to play bowling. Don’t feel bad." She said in a comforting tone.

Erik selected a ball for her. "Try a lighter one first. Kept your hand steady when releasing it." His voice was very gentle and encouraging.

Cassie pursed her lips. Was Aryana intentionally playing dumb to seduce Erik?

Aryana took a deep breath and then released the ball. Just when everyone thought the ball would hit the first pin it changed direction and headed toward the gutter.

Of all the players, only Aryana got zero on the first frame.

"It is okay. There are still nine frames left." Erik patted her on the head.

"I am not good at playing bowling but at least I scored 5. Unlike others who scored zero and are dragging the team down." Karla sneered.

"Don’t say that Karla. Aryana is still a newbie and every first-timer will have this difficulty." Cassie said sweetly. She seems to be defending Aryana but she was actually celebrating inside.

On the second frame, Aryana knocked down two pins. Cassie scored eight while Erik has a spare.

"This is already your third throw and still can’t get it. But that’s good. Our team will definitely win this game with your ability." Karla was laughing and mocking her. She only stopped when Erik glared at her.

"Since your ball goes to the right toward the end of the line, why not position yourself to the left?" Cassie suggested.

"No pressure, just relax. This is just a game after all." Erik said to her gently.

"I’ll bet that the ball will go to the gutter again." Karla giggled.

"Don’t be rude Karla. What if the ball goes to the gutter? What if our score is low? This is just a game after all. We’re here to enjoy." Cassie reprimanded Karla but her words have a double meaning. While she sounded to be siding with Aryana, her meaning was quite clear. She was blaming Aryana because of their low score.

"Well, this is only the third frame. There are still seven frames left. I haven’t played for a long time so I am a bit rusty." Aryana was not affected by the negative comment at all.

Aryana sucked in a gulp of air. She grabbed a twelve-pound ball. After four throws she was now accustomed to the weight of the ball. She released the ball. It was a strike.

Erik, Marlon, Alex, and even Franco cheered for her.

"Well done Yana." Erik beamed at her.

"That’s a great throw, Aryana." Cassie complimented her but Aryana could tell that she wasn’t sincere.

"Hmp, you finally got lucky to get a strike," Karla said sourly.

"Why so bitter Karla?" Marlon chuckled.

When it was Cassie’s turn, she failed to have a strike or a spare. She only knocked down 8 pins.

Karla on the other lane was unlucky. She never got a score above five. Sometimes her ball would go to the gutter.

"That’s what you call karma. You have been insulting Aryana since a while ago and look at you. You are the lowest scorer and dragged down our overall score." Marlon berated Karla.

Karla can only grit her teeth. ’How did that damn woman become so good suddenly? Her score is even higher than Marlon and Franco.’

For the succeeding frames, Aryana got either a strike or a spare. In the last three frames, she got a strike. Erik has also gotten strikes in the last few frames so he and Aryana have extra throws in the 10th frame.

Cassie pursed her lips. Aryana has a good posture and she looked like a professional by the way she threw her ball.

After another strike, Alex can’t help but ask, "When did you learn to throw a hook?"

"Back in college. It is difficult to master though. A little mistake and the ball goes to the gutter." Aryana replied indifferently.

It was now Erik’s turn. Players from the other lanes have gathered behind them to watch.

"I have played here often but it is my first time to see someone score so many strikes. This group is all good looking especially these last two players." One of the spectators said.

"You’re so dumb. Don’t you recognize them? That’s the CEO of Gaeya Corporation and those ladies standing over there are the models Aryana Jones and Cassie Lopez. The rest are famous heirs of the rich families in Central District." The girl beside him blurted out.

"We are in luck then. It is not every day that you see these important people here."

Marlon glared at them and the crowd quieted down.

Aryana’s last three throws were perfect. All ten pins were scattered and knocked down. She was aiming for the space between pins one and three and she hit it without fail.

At the end of the game, her overall score was 220 which was second to Erik who got 250. Her score was better than that of Franco and Marlon.

Erik was so happy he was not able to restrain himself. He held Aryana by her waist and spun her around. "Yana, you are so great! Congratulations!"

Aryana’s face became beet red.

Marlon, Alex, and Franco coughed awkwardly. ’When did Erik become infected with the lover’s sickness called PDA?’

Julia was indifferent. She has already accepted that it was impossible for her and Erik.

Rhia and Karla’s eyes widened as they looked at Cassie.

Cassie gritted her teeth and an evil glint crossed her eyes. ’Just you wait Aryana Jones!’
