Chapter 162: Wife Material
"Guys, I am just joking." Jax relented when four pairs of eyes were trained on him. One was angry, another one was hurt, the third one was wide-eyed with happiness, while the fourth one was curious. He did not expect his playful remarks to elicit such a huge reaction.
"I’ll get going." Jax hurriedly stood up to escape. He felt that the hair on his body was standing on its roots. Despite his position as the president and CEO of Lee Financials, he still felt intimated by Erik. Erik’s powerful aura easily oppressed him and he hated himself for that.
People started to leave the party. Aryana wanted to go home but Erik was still having a conversation with the Lopezes. She did not have Ben with her as she came with Erik.
She decided to wait outside. She sat on the iron bench in the waiting area. She logged in to U-Shoppe and checked the dashboard. Her eyes widened when she saw many orders. She called Elaine.
"Hello, Elaine, did you see the orders online?" her voice was excited.
"Of course. I am closely monitoring the online shop. I placed advance orders and they should be ready for pickup tomorrow. Looks like we need to visit Rex. He needs to beef up his manpower to increase production capacity."
"Can you also schedule a meeting with Red Phoenix Technologies? Let’s check if we can send a link to our customers for design variants created via the Kaledeiscope app. They can select the variant but they need to pay extra because we are customizing for them."
"Okay, I’ll schedule one."
After a few exchanges, Aryana ended the call.
Aryana sent a message to Vince. ’Hello Vince, can we meet tomorrow at lunchtime at Happy Diner? Bring Jessa along.’
Vince replied immediately that they will be at the restaurant by lunchtime.
’Why is Erik still not coming out? What is taking him so long?’
Aryana stood up and started pacing. A Maserati stopped in front of her. The window rolled down from the back seat and a young blond smiled and called out at her.
"Hey beauty, do want a ride?" he yelled.
She shook her head. "I am waiting for my ride."
Meanwhile, the elder Mr. Lee was persuading Erik to send Cassie home. "Be a gentleman and send her home."
"I came with Aryana Grandpa. Besides, Cassie came with Grandpa Lopez so I don’t need to send her off." Erik checked his watch and noticed that it was already very late.
Aryana sent her a message inquiring about what time was he coming out.
"It is getting late Grandpa. Why don’t you go home? Almost all the guests already left."
Erik instructed Assistant Dennis to send his grandfather home. He bade goodbye to Cassie and her Grandfather.
"Thank you for helping me out Erik." Cassie said sweetly.
"Don’t mention it."
Cassie was racking her brain on how to ask Erik to send her home but before she can say anything else Erik turned and left. Cassie can only clench her fist and pursed her lips.
Erik hurried out only to find a Maserati in front of Aryana. He strode towards Aryana’s side and placed his hand on her narrow waist.
"Sorry to keep you waiting." He said gently to Aryana before glaring at the young man on the Maserati.
The man who was a foreigner shrunk back and ordered his driver to leave.
"You made me jealous again. First, there was Jax and now this was this man." Erik uttered feeling aggrieved.
Aryana can only look at him with her big eyes. ’Wasn’t Ithe one that is supposed to be jealous considering that Cassie was always by his side?’
The car arrived at their front. Erik opened the door for Aryana and supported her before he walked around to the other side to enter the car.
Cassie had seen how Erik intimately held Aryana on her waist and how gentle his look was. She felt like a thousand needles pricked her heart. She was extremely jealous. She was supposed to be the one standing beside Erik and sitting in that car, but Aryana stole it from her.
Her face turned ugly which did not escape her grandfather’s probing gaze.
"What is wrong Cassie? Who bullied you? Is it Erik?"
"It is that ’woman’ Grandpa, She seduced Erik and even bewitched him. Now Erik doesn’t like me anymore." Cassie said in a pitiable voice.
"But doesn’t Erik treat you well? He looks good to you."
"He does Grandpa. But I’d like to go back to where we used to be before I went to Paris. I would like him to love me again like he used to." Cassie started crying silently.
"Cassie, aren’t you confident of your beauty? Look at you. You are very pretty and you just launched a company. You are also a successful model abroad. Only a blind person will not like you." Her grandfather consoled her.
"Then maybe, Erik is blind. He only has eyes for Aryana." Cassie pouted.
"Don’t say that. An excellent man like Erik will definitely choose a wife like you. Just wait a while. Eventually, he will get tired of her and come looking for you."
"Do you think so, Grandpa?"
"Of course! I am also a man. Give Erik a few more months and he will get tired of that woman. She is the type that will be kept by a man as a toy. While you, my granddaughter is a wife material." Vicente Lopez said confidently.
Cassie was comforted by her grandpa’s words.
"If for some reason, the ’woman’ still clings to him, then I will personally make sure that she will disappear in front of Erik."
Cassie smiled brightly. "Okay grandpa, I’ll listen to you."
...
The following day, Aryana and Elaine went to Happy Diner earlier. Vince and Jessa were already waiting for them.
"How are you Jessa? Are you feeling better?" Aryana scanned her from head to toe and noticed that her complexion was better compared to the last time she saw her.
"I am much better Aryana. Thank you for all the help."
"Don’t think much about it. Though we just knew each other for some time, I consider you and Vince as my friend. As friends, we should be helping each other."
Aryana asked the waiter for the menu and passed it to Vince and Jessa. "Please order whatever you like."
She and Elaine have been to this restaurant many times. There is nothing on the menu that they have not tried.
"Hickory Chops for me with caesar salad and pineapple juice."
"I’ll order the same as her," Elaine instructed the waiter. In the end, Vince and Jessa ordered the same as theirs.
"Vince, here is the sales we had for one and a half week. The response is overwhelming. People are loving your designs." Aryana showed the dashboard to Vince and his eyes widened.
"Here is a bank card for you. I have transferred one hundred thousand as your commission for one week."
"I think it is now time for you to focus on designing for our high-end market. Rex recommended a few of their top graduates. They can do design on a commission base. Of course, you will be the one to screen their work as we need to maintain the quality and consistency of our brand.
Vince nodded. He still cannot believe his luck.
"There is a design competition next month. I submitted CoChi as a participant. I hope you can come up with a design that will earn our brand recognition."
Vince became excited. "I will not let you down Aryana. I’ll come up with a new design as CoChi’s entry for the competition."
"There is another thing. We need someone to constantly monitor U-Shoppe. Can Jessa handle this? You will be paid on commission bases. So it depends on the number of products you sell."
Jessa’s eyes lit up. She thought she was going back to being a waitress in that small restaurant. Now, she has an option.
"I am willing to handle it. I just need training on what to do."
"That’s great Jessa. Elaine will teach you what to do."
The waiter arrived with their food and their conversation was interrupted. Aryana stopped talking so the others can savor and enjoy their food.
"How do you find the Hickory Chops Jessa, Vince?" Aryana asked after she is done talking.
"It is very delicious. I didn’t know that pork chops taste this good. My mother would just love this grilled or fried." Vince replied.
"By the way, the company will be registered soon. Vince, you are a shareholder like Elaine and Rex. After the company is registered, we can start hiring a few staff who will help us with management.
"Vince, Jessa, I think you need to do a crash course on business management."
"Okay. Just let us know how to go about it. We are ready to attend anytime."
"O shit!" Elaine blurted out.
"What’s wrong? Aryana asked worriedly.
"Someone claims that the CoChi designs were copied from another designer’s work. They accused us of plagiarising.
