Chapter 151: I’m Here For A Business Trip

"Mind if I sit here?" Clark asked in a gentle tone.

"Of course you can sit anywhere you like. What brings you here Clark? You have a business trip?" Aryana asked a series of questions.

"I’m here for a business trip. I need to accompany our project sponsor as they want to oversee the photoshoot." Clark replied matter-of-factly.

Aryana’s eyes widened. "You are headed to Batan?"

Clark nodded.

"Are they here in the airport?" Aryana looked around but she did not have an idea who she was looking for.

"They are already in Batan. They arrived there this morning."

"I see." Aryana said. She became silent as she ran out of things to say to Clark.

Clark took out his laptop and started checking a a sales report. He pretended to be looking at the laptop but he secretly studied Aryana.

Aryana closed her eyes and wanted to take a nap.

"Are you tired?" Clark asked her.

"I’m just catching up some sleep."

After sometime they heard a steward announced that the passengers for Batan can board the plane.

Clark was booked at the business class but he decided to linger for a while. He queued behind Aryana.

"Is this your first time to go to Batan?" Clark asked

"Yes it is my first time. Amy has been there. For Elaine, it is also her first time." Aryana responded for the three of them.

When the steward saw that Clark’s ticket was for business class, she escorted him to his gate.

"See you later ladies." He followed the steward.

They arrived at Batan Island after one hour. A car transport was waiting for them when they get off the plane. Aryana looked for Clark, but he probably has his own transport to the hotel.

It was almost 10:00pm when they completed their check in procedures.

"How about let’s grab something for dinner? I am so hungry." Elaine complained.

There was a restaurant at the hotel and they ordered Ramen for the three of them. After filling their stomach they went to look for their rooms. The elevator door was closing when a deep masculine voice said "Wait for me."

Aryana pressed the open button and wait until Clark went inside. Another man entered the elevator. He was wearing a cap hid the upper part of his face.

"So your room are just beside each other?" Clark started a conversation with them when he noticed that they were heading to the same floor.

"Aryana and I shares a room." Elaine excitedly said.

Clark frowned. "You are sharing a room ?" He looked displeased. His gaze shifted to Elaine and said in a stern voice. "You go back and arrange a different room for you. Charge it to Galaxy Entertainment." Clark gave her a card that she should give to the receptionist.

"Clark it is okay. Elaine is after all is my assistant." Aryana protested.

"But it wouldn’t look good on the company if news leaks out the the main model of this shoot is sharing a room with an assistant." Clark explained as gently as he could.

Aryana has to admit that she did not think from the perspective of Galaxy Entertainment.

"I understand. I did not think of that" Aryana muttered softly.

The elevator stopped at the 10th floor. The four people stepped out except for Elaine who needed to go back.

Aryana cast a furtive glance at the bulky man with a cap. He looked familiar. Aryana saw him somewhere but can’t remember where.

When Aryana was in the room, she messaged Erik.

’We arrived safely and I am now in the hotel. I am so tired I want to sleep.

Erik: Go to sleep

Aryana: Where are you?

Erik: Still at the banquet

Aryana : Message me when you get home

Aryana waited for sometime but Erik did not reply. She went to the bathroom to freshen up. She tidied her things and change into a pink pajama.

Aryana layed down on the bed. She smiled brightly into the camera and took a selfie. She sent it to Erik with the caption. "Missing you already."

Aryana called Elaine. "In which room are you?" She asked.

"The one across Amy." Elaine answered sleepily from the other line.

"Let’s go to sleep. We have a long day tomorrow." Aryana ended the call.

At a high end restaurant at Central District, Cassie was seated beside Erik and she was asking Erik a lot of questions regarding business. It was only when she discussed business with him that he became engaged and looked at her.

Erik’s cell phone dinged. When he saw the content , he pursued his lips. The first photo was that of Aryana sitting on the chair and seated beside her was Clark Ham. The second photo was when Clark was queuing behind Aryana and the third one was when they were on the plane and thank goodness Aryana’s seat mate Elaine and Clark was nowhere to be found.

Cassie noticed the change in his expression. She leaned closer to him and asked in a gentle tone.

"Is anything the matter Erik? You don’t look good. You don’t like the dessert?" She passed him a slice of chocolate cake. That used to be one of his favorite.

Erik lifted his head and regarded Cassie. This woman sitting beside him used to be his entire world which came crashing down after she left. Day and night, he had been looking forward to her return. Now that she was beside him, and she was throwing herself at him, how come he did not feel the same way?

His mind was at the other girl who just sent him a selfie and said she missed him. Just thinking that he will be sleeping alone tonight and Clark was staying at the same hotel, his face even turned somber.

He married Aryana to spite his father and grandfather and so they will not have a chance to arrange a marriage for him. He also married her to protect her and because he owed Robert his life.

He took the chocolate cake from Cassie and ate a spoonful. This was once his favorite.

"The sweetness is quite overwhelming." He put down the dessert spoon and drank a mouthful of wine.

"But this used to be your favorite." Cassie took her spoon and scooped the cake that Erik pushed away and put it into her mouth.

She savored the cake and she loved the rich chocolate flavor. The ganache with a creamy chocolate flavor enhanced the taste of the cake.

’Why did Erik pushed it away?’
