THE BILLIONAIRE STILL WANTS HER!
Chapter 81: Put down the news

Chapter 81: Put down the news

"Well," he said with a smirk, "we could always make them take down every story they have—including the ones your dear Arthur came up with."

His tone was light, teasing, yet there was an unmistakable edge of mischief in his voice.

Angel’s smile wavered ever so slightly, a flicker of unease crossing her face as the weight of her thoughts settled in.

The realization that Tryson might be deeply shaken by the rumors Arthur had recklessly spread across the internet gnawed at her mind.

This—this was something she never saw coming from Arthur. But what baffled her even more was the absurdity of his claim.

How could he, of all people, suddenly declare himself as the father of her child when he had absolutely no idea who the real father was?

What had pushed him to make such a bold and reckless decision out of nowhere?

Still nestled in Tryson’s arms, she felt the warmth of his palm as he gently cupped her cheek.

His touch was tender, yet there was an unspoken weight behind it. A soft smile tugged at his lips as he gave a small shake of his head before speaking.

"What do you expect me to do, Angel?" he asked, his voice calm yet carrying an undertone of something unspoken. "Sure, I can’t deny that it stings a little. But if the father of the child has finally stepped up and come forward to claim his rights, then... I guess I should be happy about that."

His words were smooth, almost too composed. But Angel wasn’t fooled—not for a second.

Beneath the surface, she could sense the turmoil he was trying to mask. And yet, what stunned her the most wasn’t his ability to conceal his emotions. It was his mentality.

In what world would a man react so indifferently to something like this?

And to think that Tryson had just confessed his feelings for her—only for Arthur to suddenly stir up a storm on the internet—shouldn’t that have offended him?

Shouldn’t he feel even the slightest bit betrayed by the chaos Arthur was causing?

At that moment, Angel knew she couldn’t keep running from this. Whatever game she had been playing, whatever tangled web she had been weaving—it all had to stop now.

"Tryson, there’s something you really need to know," Angel blurted out, the words tumbling from her lips before she could stop them.

She had been holding onto this for too long, and now, the weight of it was suffocating her.

Tryson’s gaze snapped to hers, his expression shifting from calm to intrigued. His brow furrowed slightly, curiosity flickering in his eyes as he took in her sudden change in tone.

"Angel, what is it?" he asked, his voice steady, but there was something unreadable behind it.

She swallowed hard, gathering the courage she needed.

"The truth about the baby is... I said things I shouldn’t have said." Her words came out firm, but inside, she was trembling.

She had spun the lie long enough—it was time he knew the truth.

Before she could continue, Tryson suddenly cut in. "I know, Angel. There’s no need to worry."

Angel froze, her breath catching in her throat. Her body tensed, and if she dared to deny the way her hands had begun to shake, she would only be lying to herself.

"You... you know?" she stammered, her eyes widening as she searched his face for answers.

Tryson’s expression remained unreadable, but there was a quiet understanding in his gaze as he nodded.

"What do you know?" she pressed, needing to hear it from him, needing to understand what exactly he had pieced together.

Tryson exhaled, his lips pressing into a thin line before he finally spoke.

"I know that you and Arthur broke up a long time ago."

Angel’s stomach twisted at his words. Her frown deepened as she processed what he had just said.

Did he really not know the full truth? Or was he simply choosing to believe only what was convenient for him?

Whatever she had intended to say vanished from her mind in an instant, leaving her completely speechless. The words were there, lingering on the edge of her tongue, but for some reason, they refused to come out.

"What do you mean, Tryson?" Angel finally asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Tryson exhaled softly, studying her with quiet patience.

"I’ve noticed the way you and Arthur argue. The way things never seem quite... right between you two. Am I wrong?" His tone was gentle, yet there was an undeniable certainty in his words.

Angel’s breath hitched as confusion clouded her thoughts.

Of course, she was dating Arthur—wasn’t she? And yet, in that very moment, she found herself struggling to define their relationship.

Had they really been together, or had they just been holding onto the illusion of something that never truly existed? And if a breakup was even a possibility, did that mean they were never meant to be in the first place?

"No, Tryson," she muttered, shaking her head, trying to ground herself in reality. But the more she thought about it, the more lost she felt.

What kind of woman was she at that moment?

"The truth is," she admitted, her voice raw with emotion, "as much as I want to say Arthur and I are still together, I can’t even define what we have anymore. And the baby... Arthur isn’t the—"

Before she could finish, a voice cut through the tension.

"Mr. Tryson."

Angel’s head snapped toward the source of the interruption. One of the men Tryson had assigned to supervise them approached, his expression composed but his presence unmistakably urgent.

Tryson turned toward him, his body tensing slightly.

"Tryson, I really need to talk to you about this," Angel pressed, impatience evident in her voice. She was desperate to get everything off her chest before it was too late.

But the man in front of them didn’t back down. "Actually, sir... it’s from him." His voice was careful, as if trying to keep Angel from understanding the full extent of what he meant.

"Him?" Angel echoed, narrowing her eyes.

Something about the way Tryson’s expression darkened for a brief second made her stomach tighten.

"Is it really that important?" she asked, her frustration bubbling to the surface.

Tryson turned his gaze to her and gave a slow nod. "It’s my father," he answered calmly. "I’m sure he has something important to discuss with me."

Angel bit her lip, torn between insisting he stay and letting him go. Tryson needed to know the truth. But if this was something important...

She exhaled, forcing herself to step back. "Okay then," she said, her tone suddenly flat, distant.

Tryson gave her one last look before stepping closer, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. It was a small gesture, but it sent a storm of emotions swirling inside her.

As she watched him walk away, a deep conflict gnawed at her, but she couldn’t afford to sit in her emotions.

Not now.

Without another second of hesitation, she reached for her phone. She had to stop Arthur—before things spiraled even further out of control.
