THE BILLIONAIRE STILL WANTS HER!
Chapter 75: Madame Riley

Chapter 75: Madame Riley

Ana rushed through the stark, sterile halls of the hospital, her heartbeat drumming in sync with the rapid click of her heels against the cold floor.

The moment she received the call that Riley had been admitted, a wave of unease crashed over her, tightening around her chest like an iron grip.

Concern gnawed at her—was Madame Riley alright?

The thought alone made her stomach twist. But something didn’t sit right.

Knowing her boss, this wasn’t just an ordinary emergency. There had to be more to the story.

Pushing aside the creeping suspicions, she quickened her pace, her pulse pounding as she neared the VIP room reserved for Riley, bracing herself for whatever awaited on the other side.

"Madame Riley?" Ana called out softly, her voice laced with cautious concern as she stepped into the room.

Her eyes immediately landed on Riley, who sat comfortably on the hospital bed, looking far from the fragile, wounded state Ana had feared.

Instead, she appeared at ease—perhaps even in good spirits.

The tension that had gripped Ana’s chest loosened, if only slightly. All the dreadful scenarios that had raced through her mind on the way here began to fade, yet a lingering sense of unease remained.

She knew her boss too well.

If Riley had ended up in the hospital, there was no way it was without reason. And if Ana had to guess, Tyson had something to do with it.

But as she took in the scene before her, that theory no longer seemed to fit.

No, this wasn’t a case of Riley being the victim. If anything, Ana could almost bet that her boss had been the one stirring up chaos—and for once, it seemed things hadn’t played out in her favor.

"Ma’am," Ana called again, stepping further inside as a hospital nurse carefully placed a tray of food in front of Riley.

Whatever had led to this moment, one thing was clear—Madame Riley was far from helpless.

The moment Riley’s gaze met Ana’s, she raised a hand, halting the nurse mid-action. Without a word, she dismissed her with a simple flick of her wrist, her expression unreadable.

The nurse hesitated for a second before quietly nodding and stepping out of the room, leaving the two of them alone.

"Ma’am, are you okay?" Ana asked, her voice steady but laced with concern. "The hospital—when they called—I was worried something worse had happened." Her eyes searched Riley’s face, hoping for some reassurance, some kind of explanation.

But Riley didn’t offer one.

She remained silent, her face impassive as she slid off the bed and made her way toward the counter on the other side of the room.

Ana’s gaze followed her every move, curiosity and worry battling within her. Riley grabbed the remote, switched on the television, and stood there, watching the screen as though waiting for something.

Ana’s fingers tightened around the strap of her handbag, where Riley’s medicine kit rested inside. A part of her wanted to push for answers, to demand to know what had happened, but the way Riley carried herself made it clear—she wasn’t ready to talk.

Lowering her head slightly, Ana exhaled, deciding for now, she would wait.

"Did you bring the medicine?" Riley asked bluntly, her voice carrying its usual sharpness as she settled back onto the bed.

Her piercing gaze flickered toward Ana, who instinctively nodded the moment their eyes met.

"That’s good. Bring it," Riley ordered without hesitation.

Ana stepped forward, placing the bag gently into Riley’s waiting hands.

Without wasting a second, Riley peeled the pill from its packaging, her movements precise and deliberate. Ana quickly handed her a glass of water, watching as her boss downed the medication with practiced ease.

A moment of silence hung between them before Ana finally spoke, careful with her words. "Ma’am, it seems like your plan didn’t go the way you expected, did it?"

Riley’s gaze snapped to her, sharp and unreadable. For a brief second, Ana braced herself for a cold response—or worse, complete silence.

But then, to her surprise, Riley’s lips curled into a knowing smile, something almost mischievous dancing in her eyes.

Ana’s curiosity spiked. What had happened?

"You know me so well, don’t you, Ana?" Riley murmured, her voice laced with amusement.

Ana could only nod, because the truth was—she did. And that realization made her all the more eager to uncover exactly what had gone wrong.

"Look at the television," Riley instructed, her voice sharp with intrigue.

As Ana turned her head, her eyes widened—on the screen, Arthur was holding a press conference. The air in the room seemed to thicken with tension.

"Well, isn’t this interesting?" Riley mused, clicking her tongue, but her expression twisted almost instantly into one of irritation, her brows knitting together.

The revelation before her was anything but amusing.

"Ana," she said, her voice slicing through the silence like a blade. "Do you have any idea who brought me to the hospital?"

Ana shook her head, the uncertainty in her eyes mirroring the confusion brewing in the room.

"It sure as hell wasn’t Tryson," Riley muttered, venom dripping from every word.

Her fingers curled into fists, and she clicked her tongue again, a habit that betrayed her growing frustration.

She cast her gaze downward, watching her foot idly kick at the air as if lost in thought. Then, with a slow, deliberate movement, she lifted her head and locked eyes with Ana.

"And it definitely wasn’t me either," she added, her voice colder now. A bitter chuckle escaped her lips before she continued, "I really thought Tryson would be the one to rush me to the hospital. But no—he’s too wrapped up in that bitch to even notice me. I just don’t get it, Ana. What does she have that makes him so obsessed? What’s so damn special about her?"

Her jaw tightened, but then a flicker of realization sparked in her eyes. She nodded to herself, as if pieces of a puzzle were finally falling into place.

"But now... now I think I finally understand a little more than I was supposed to about this whole situation."

Ana swallowed, uncertainty clouding her expression. The weight of Riley’s words pressed down on her, making the air feel heavier.

"Ma’am," Ana whispered hesitantly, her voice barely above a breath. "What do you think Mr. Tryson is about to do?"

"Not just him, Ana," Riley continued, her voice laced with intrigue. "But think about it—the fact that two billionaires are locked in a battle over one woman. And what makes it even more fascinating? They’re both in the same mafia syndicate."

She paused, her eyes narrowing as a thought took shape.

"Are these two underbosses secretly vying for the boss’s throne? Or is this really about love?"

A slow, knowing smirk tugged at the corner of her lips before she arched a curious eyebrow, the mystery deepening in her mind.
