THE BILLIONAIRE STILL WANTS HER!
Chapter 65: Whatever she says...

Chapter 65: Whatever she says...

"Whatever she said, I really don’t want you to think about it. It’s nothing, I promise," Tryson said, his voice laced with urgency as his gaze locked onto hers, searching—no, pleading—for the kind of belief that would assure him she truly trusted him.

His intense stare felt like a desperate attempt to anchor himself in her certainty, to convince them both that Riley’s words held no weight.

But Angel knew Riley too well.

She had spent enough time with her to recognize the calculated edge in her words, the way she twisted truths to suit her purpose.

Besides, she had insisted that Tryson stay by her side so they could face whatever Riley had to say—together.

There would be no running from this.

Slowly, Angel lifted her hand, her fingers trembling slightly, before gently covering Tryson’s eyes. A silent moment passed between them, her touch a delicate yet firm reassurance.

When she finally met his gaze again, there was no hesitation, only trust as she gave him a small nod.

"I know, Tryson. Riley is full of tricks, and I understand exactly what she’s trying to do. She’s not going to let you go that easily, especially after everything that happened. But still, I can’t help but ask—"

Her words cut off, swallowed by a sudden, suffocating silence.

The air thickened around them, as if the very atmosphere was holding its breath, waiting—watching.

Angel’s heartbeat pounded in her ears, blending with the stillness, a quiet so deep it felt like the world itself had paused.

"Tryson, your family... are they against us being together?" Angel asked, her voice steady, though it was clear she was summoning every ounce of confidence to speak the words aloud.

She studied him carefully, watching for even the slightest shift in his expression. For a moment, he looked taken aback, as if the question had caught him off guard.

But what else could she do? She needed to know—needed certainty—so she wouldn’t keep tormenting herself over the entire situation.

"No, no. Angel, it’s not like that," Tryson said quickly, shaking his head. "You know very well that my parents weren’t against you coming back." His tone was reassuring, almost pleading, as if he was desperate for her to believe him.

And yet... that was exactly what confused her.

Why now? Why had they suddenly accepted her, after having once sent her away, claiming she wasn’t right for their family? What had changed?

Angel held Tryson’s gaze for a long, searching moment before finally nodding, though the motion felt empty.

"I just... I just needed to be sure," she admitted softly. "So it won’t feel like I’m making a mistake."

Tryson studied her, his brows pulling together in a slight frown. "Is this because of what Riley said?" he asked, his voice quieter now, laced with something unreadable.

Angel immediately shook her head. "No, no. It’s not about that. It’s just..." She hesitated, exhaling slowly before continuing, "I’m afraid, Tryson. Afraid that I won’t be able to say what I really need to, because I’ve been so caught up in these thoughts. And I don’t know how to break free from them."

At that moment, Tryson’s expression shifted. His frown deepened, his jaw tightening as he processed her words. A weight seemed to settle between them, heavy and unspoken, filling the silence with a tension neither of them knew how to break.

"What’s bothering you?" Tryson asked, his voice calm but laced with quiet concern.

Angel hesitated for a moment, gathering the courage she had been struggling to find. Finally, she took a deep breath and spoke.

"It’s about the baby," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

She watched as Tryson’s gaze locked onto hers, the tension in his body sharpening at her words. His expression darkened, his jaw tightening as uncertainty flickered across his face.

"What... what happened to the baby?" he asked, his voice trembling slightly.

Angel held his stare, the weight of her unspoken words pressing against her chest. Guilt gnawed at her, the consequences of her actions swirling in her mind like an unforgiving storm. But no matter how much she wavered, she had already made her decision. Whatever happened next... it had to be for the best.

She swallowed hard before finally speaking again. "The truth is... I told you the baby belongs to Arthur, but—"

Just as she was about to reveal the truth, a sharp, urgent knock shattered the air, making her flinch.

A low, frustrated growl escaped Tryson’s lips. His hands clenched into fists at his sides as he turned toward the door. "Who the hell could that be at a time like this?" he muttered, irritation thick in his voice.

But despite his frustration, the interruption was absolute. No matter how desperately Tryson wanted Angel to finish her sentence, the relentless pounding on the door drowned out everything else.

And in that moment, the truth remained trapped in the silence between them.

With no other options left, Tryson hesitated for only a moment before walking toward the room, his heart pounding in his chest. As he reached the door, a frown creased his brow. Standing before him was a woman dressed in a crisp white uniform, the kind worn by hotel staff. Her presence was unexpected, and something about her demeanor seemed urgent.

"Can I help you?" Tryson asked, his voice softer than he intended. But before he could prepare himself for a response, the woman’s eyes widened in a panic, and she hurriedly spoke, her words tumbling out in a frantic rush.

"Sir, the woman in the room next to yours—she just fainted in the hallway. I thought she might be your fiancée because she kept murmuring your name before she passed out," she said, barely catching her breath.

A wave of fear gripped Tryson as he processed her words. He immediately suspected that it must have been one of Riley’s fainting episodes. His mind raced, but before he could close the door, he noticed a crowd gathering outside—other hotel guests becoming curious about the woman who had collapsed just a few feet away from his room.

Tryson’s heart sank. Panic flooded his chest as he rushed past the crowd, the thought of Riley’s condition consuming him. Despite their chaotic relationship, despite her troubling behavior, there was no way he could ignore the bond they shared.

She was his friend—someone he couldn’t bear to lose.
