Chapter 63: You don’t know everything
"You don’t know everything, Riley," Angel said firmly, her tone sharp with a hint of challenge. "So, I’d suggest you keep your words to a minimum." She crossed her arms, her piercing gaze locking onto Riley.
Then, with a slow tilt of her head and a sly smirk playing on her lips, she added, "Besides, Riley, you really ought to stay quiet, don’t you think?"
Her eyebrows arched as she turned her intense stare toward Riley, daring her to disagree.
A small smirk played on Riley’s lips as one corner of her mouth lifted, her eyes gleaming with unspoken mischief. Then, with a calm yet deliberate tone, she spoke.
"Don’t think for a second that I wouldn’t say what’s necessary. You know," she paused, tilting her head slightly as if savoring the moment, "right now, I’m starting to question a lot of things. More importantly, I’m beginning to wonder about the true father of the child in your womb."
Her words hung in the air like a storm cloud, and as she finished, she arched a single brow, challenging Angel to deny it.
"The child is mine," Tryson’s voice rang out suddenly, cutting through the tension like a blade.
Angel’s breath hitched for the briefest moment, but she quickly masked her reaction, her expression remaining unreadable. Slowly, she turned her head to meet Tryson’s gaze, watching him intently.
At that moment, he seemed unwavering—utterly certain of his words. Why did he say those words?
At that moment, Angel couldn’t help but feel a deep, overwhelming guilt settling in her chest.
Tryson was standing there, claiming to be the father of her child with such certainty, but the truth weighed heavily on her—she was pregnant with him which she claimed to be Arthur’s baby.
She closed her eyes, inhaling slowly, trying to steady herself against the storm of emotions raging within. When she finally opened them, her gaze met Tryson’s, and the guilt only deepened.
She had kept him in the dark, pushed him away from the truth, and now, as she stood before him, she couldn’t shake the feeling that she had betrayed him in ways she could never take back.
Yet, even as guilt clawed at her, another fear crept in—her own thoughts, her own doubts. The consequences of everything she had done loomed over her, and for the first time, she felt truly trapped between the past and the inevitable truth waiting to be revealed.
In that moment, Angel made a silent vow to herself—no matter what happened, she would have to tell Tryson the truth.
He deserved to know, especially about the child, even if it meant shattering his heart into pieces.
She could no longer keep him in the dark, not when the weight of her secret was becoming unbearable.
Riley, on the other hand, was completely stunned by Tryson’s declaration. His words carried such strength, such certainty, that she knew—if he was claiming the child as his, then it could only mean one thing: he truly believed it.
A sharp, burning sensation twisted in Riley’s chest at the thought. The very idea made her seethe with frustration.
There was no way she was going to stand by and let Angel have that child so easily.
No, she had made up her mind—she had to get Tryson away from Angel, no matter what it took. And she didn’t care how ruthless she had to be to make it happen.
"Oh, really, Tryson?" Riley scoffed, tilting her head as she folded her arms. "You’re dating a woman who secretly runs around with another man. She’s clearly cheating on you—unlike some of us."
Her voice was smooth, persuasive, laced with just enough venom to plant the seed of doubt within him.
But deep down, she knew Tryson wouldn’t respond to her accusations so easily. That didn’t matter. Not yet.
First, she had to make sure the doubt took root, and more importantly, she had to get rid of Angel—one way or another.
Angel, however, remained unfazed. Her expression was unreadable as she slowly lifted a folder in her hand, her eyes locking onto Riley’s with cold precision.
"Besides," she said, her voice cutting through the air like a blade, "come to think of it... could it be possible that you’re the one responsible for that blog online?" Angel took a step forward, her gaze narrowing. "And yeah," she continued, giving the folder a slight wave, "you’re just using all of this as a cover-up, aren’t you?"
For a brief moment, silence filled the room.
Then, out of nowhere, Riley threw her head back and let out a sharp, almost amused laugh, her laughter echoing with something unsettling.
"Really, Angel?" Riley scoffed, tilting her head with an air of confidence. "You actually think I need to use the media just to get rid of you? That I’d go that far just to make sure you leave Tryson?" Her voice was smooth, controlled, dripping with amusement.
Angel clenched her jaw, but at that moment, no words came to her.
Riley smirked, reveling in the silence. "Well, think whatever you want," she continued, her voice laced with something almost taunting. "But if you don’t believe me, ask Tryson yourself. Because once I make a move, trust me—" she slowly turned her gaze toward Tryson, locking eyes with him as she spoke, "nobody, not even Tryson himself, will be able to escape what I’m capable of."
The weight of her words lingered in the air, heavy and threatening. Then, just as quickly, Riley turned her attention back to Angel, her lips stretching into a wide, almost unsettling smile.
"So, baby girl," she said, her tone deceptively sweet, "I really hope you know exactly where you belong... because I can bite." She leaned in slightly, her eyes dark with intent. "And when I say bite, I mean deep—so deep that no matter what you do, you won’t be able to make the pain go away."
Her voice was calm, almost casual, but the threat beneath it was unmistakable.
Riley held her smile, staring at Angel like a predator sizing up its prey.
Tryson clenched his jaw so tightly it ached, his fists curling at his sides as he stared at Riley, fully understanding the weight of her words.
Every syllable dripped with poison, and he knew exactly what she was trying to do—manipulate, threaten, and break Angel down piece by piece.
"But well," Riley continued smoothly, flicking a dismissive glance at Angel, "after all, I really want you to enjoy whatever time you think you have with Tryson. Let him make you feel like you’re the queen of this universe."
She let out a small, mocking chuckle. "Because when reality finally comes crashing down on you, when you see the truth for what it is, trust me—I’ll be right there, smiling as wide as the moonlight."
Her smile stretched, her eyes dark with satisfaction. "And I’ll make sure you suffer more than you ever thought possible. Because, Angel, you have no idea what you’re doing. You’re just another girl blinded by money, by power—"
"Shut up!"Tryson’s voice erupted through the room like a thunderclap, raw and forceful.
The sudden outburst was enough to send a jolt through both women, their bodies stiffening in shock.
Neither of them had expected such an intense reaction from him—one that carried more fury than they had ever heard before. His patience had been stretched to its absolute limit.
