Chapter 59: I see you’re with her...
"I see you’re enjoying yourself with her," the man said, his voice laced with irritation.
Yet, even with the tension that was clearly present, he kept a calm and almost eerily steady attitude.
Tryson’s eyes grew darker, and his face changed to show a cold and thoughtful look.
With careful quietness, he moved his gaze toward the room, watching Angel as she occupied herself with various tasks.
For a brief moment, he just looked—his eyes stayed on her as she got ready—before, with slow intention, he redirected his attention to the wide view outside the balcony, his thoughts hidden from sight.
His hold on the phone became a little bit firmer as he started to talk, and his voice lowered to almost a whisper.
He seemed strangely composed, even though the importance of the words he was about to say hung heavily in the air.
"Boss, do we really have to do it this way?" Tryson asked, a trace of fear threading through his tone.
A quiet laugh came from the other end of the phone, making him feel a shiver run down his back.
"Tryson," the man said in a voice that was icy and seemed to mock him, "let me pose this question to you—what precisely is it that bothers you about returning her?"
In that moment, a heavy feeling of fear and anxiety filled Tryson’s heart and stomach.
"You have her with you right now—so why not return her to me before I do something you will deeply regret?" the man spoke, his tone surprisingly steady and controlled.
But under that calm voice, a tempest was forming, his annoyance buzzing like an alert just before the thunder hit.
Tryson tightly shut his eyes, feeling a surge of anxiety wash over him.
The burden of his previous decisions gnawed at his mind, with every regret feeling more painful than the one before.
"Boss, she is..." Tryson paused, his words stuck in his throat.
He sank into a deep silence, carefully considering each word before he finally let out a long breath.
"She just needs a little time to come around," he said, his voice softer now, sounding a bit unsure. "I assure you, you will have her on our side. But it will be a challenge to persuade her to do what we require."
His voice faded away, and in that instant, a deep sense of guilt gripped him tightly. He pressed his lip between his teeth, feeling the sharp taste of regret linger in his mouth.
A dense silence lingered in the air between them, weighed down by the truths that remained unsaid.
Words were unnecessary—every look, every breath held a significance that neither of them needed to express aloud.
Tryson understood that the journey in front of him would be extremely difficult—there was no way to avoid the results of what he had done.
Yet, in that instant, nothing else seemed important.
He was ready to give up everything if it meant he could be with Angel. However, deep inside, he was aware that his family would not support his decision.
They simply wouldn’t get it, much less agree with him.
The idea felt like a sharp blade turning in his heart. To betray Angel was not something he could just brush off, and the feeling of guilt ate away at him constantly.
Yet, as painful as it was, he was fully aware of one undeniable truth—eventually, he would have to confront the consequences of the choices he had made.
"Very well, go ahead and do what you want," the boss stated, his tone icy and steady. "However, let me make it clear that you have precisely two days to get this done. Not a moment beyond that. I really don’t care about your methods—I simply want her delivered to me."
Tryson’s mouth formed a slight grin, but it lacked any sense of friendliness.
He hardly appeared to show any worry about what he was about to undertake. Taking a slow and careful breath, he let it out softly and bowed his head, feeling the heaviness of the situation resting heavily on him.
This was going to be the toughest challenge he had ever faced.
As the conversation was coming to a close, Tryson shifted his gaze to the softly illuminated room around him. His tone remained calm and resolute.
"Of course, boss. She will be brought to you in the next two days."
Yet, despite the assurance in his voice, a deep heaviness weighed down on his heart. It was a load he found difficult to lift.
Regardless of his true desires, he felt completely restricted, unable to act.
Just as he stepped into the room, ready to call for Angel, his phone buzzed. He glanced down, his brows furrowing slightly. Jude.
For a brief second, he hesitated before answering.
"Yeah," Tryson said flatly, waiting for a response.
"I heard the boss found out you’re with Angel," Jude said, his voice calm but laced with curiosity.
"Who wouldn’t find out? All thanks to your wonderful missy," Tryson muttered, irritation seeping into his tone.
Just the mention of her name was enough to set him on edge.
"What?" Jude’s voice spiked with surprise. "Oh no—don’t tell me Riley was the one who snitched on you!"
"Well, that’s what I get for rejecting someone like her," Tryson said flatly.
A brief silence stretched between them, thick with unspoken tension. Before he could continue, a sudden knock echoed from the door.
"I think the hotel staff is here," he said casually, shifting his weight.
But just as he was about to step out, movement caught his eye.
Angel emerged from the kitchen within the suite, her presence stealing his attention in an instant.
"Oh, you’re around," Tryson said casually, glancing at Angel.
She gave a slow nod.
"I just needed to grab some food, that’s all," she explained.
Tryson responded with a simple nod, his expression unreadable. "I’ll go check the door," Angel said, turning toward the entrance.
Tryson watched her for a moment before silently returning to his call with Jude, his mind already tangled in too many thoughts.
