THE BILLIONAIRE STILL WANTS HER! -
Chapter 54: Sweet Dreams...
Chapter 54: Sweet Dreams...
The moment Tryson reached the suite’s room, his grip tightened around the door handle.
Riley’s words echoed in his mind, looping over and over like a haunting refrain.
He exhaled a small, shaky breath. As brutal as her words had been, he couldn’t deny their truth.
No matter how much he wished otherwise, the boss wasn’t going to let her walk away scot-free—not without getting what he wanted from Angel.
Guilt gnawed at him, sharp and relentless.
The weight of it settled deep in his chest as the terrifying realization sank in—everything was teetering on the edge of chaos.
The trust he had painstakingly built with Angel could shatter in an instant, crumbling into betrayal the moment she uncovered the whole truth.
The truth—Tryson couldn’t help but let his mind spiral into the tangled web of it all.
Every piece of the puzzle, every decision made, all traced back to a single, undeniable reality.
The reason his family had sent Angel away in the first place.
The reason Arthur placed her on a pedestal within his company.
The reason he was so desperate to get her back. It all came down to the truth—a truth Angel might soon realize was nothing more than a carefully played game, with her as the pawn.
She held a position so significant, yet so cleverly concealed, that to the outside world, she appeared no different from anyone else.
But they all wanted her.
Not for who she was, but for what she represented.
Power.
A claim strong enough to tip the scales in their favor, to elevate them beyond all others. And in this ruthless game, power was the only thing that mattered.
At first, it had all been just an intention—a means to an end.
But as Tryson’s feelings for Angel deepened, so did his hesitation.
Somewhere along the way, he no longer wanted to keep her trapped in a web of deception.
He wanted to set her free, to give her the life she truly deserved—one untouched by lies and the stinging betrayals of those she believed were hers.
His fingers tightened around the doorknob.
A steady breath. A moment of resolve.
Then, gathering the courage to follow through with what he knew in his heart was right, he stepped into the suite.
Moving with quiet determination, he made his way to the bedroom, half-expecting to find Angel awake.
But as he entered, his gaze softened.
There she was, curled up on the bed, her peaceful expression untouched by the chaos surrounding them.
In that moment, she looked serene—so effortlessly at ease that anyone watching would feel a sense of calm wash over them.
This—this was what he had always wanted for Angel.
A moment of pure tranquility, where she was free from every burden weighing her down.
Tryson stepped closer, his movements careful, almost reverent.
He crouched slightly beside the bed, his gaze lingering on her peaceful face. But just as he took in the sight, Angel stirred, her lashes fluttering before her eyes slowly blinked open.
For a brief second, confusion flickered across her face.
Then, as her vision cleared and she recognized him, a slight frown formed between her brows.
"Tryson?" she murmured, her voice soft and laced with exhaustion.
A smirk tugged at his lips.
At that particular moment, he was feeling a bit mischievous as he thought about Angel lying on her bed, hoping to catch some sleep.
"Seems like you’ve finished your bath now. Ugh, I can’t believe I let the chance slip away to figure out a way to join you in the shower," he playfully joked.
Angel blinked, then let out a small chuckle, the warmth of it breaking through the drowsiness lingering in her features. She blushed hearing him state those words.
"Where did you disappear to all of a sudden? I tried looking for you, but you were nowhere to be found," Angel murmured, her voice still laced with sleep.
Her words, though gentle, sent a flicker of guilt through Tryson.
For a brief moment, his expression faltered, a slight frown threatening to settle on his face. But almost instantly, he masked it with a small, effortless smile.
"I had to take care of some business," he replied smoothly, his tone as calm as ever.
Silence stretched between them after his words, lingering yet strangely comfortable. Angel, still drowsy, seemed on the verge of drifting back into sleep.
Meanwhile, Tryson simply watched her, unable to stop himself from admiring the quiet beauty she exuded in that moment.
"You know what? I think I should get some sleep," Tryson said calmly.
Angel nodded, expecting him to join her on the bed. But instead, she watched as he made his way to the wardrobe, pulled out a blanket, and turned toward the living room.
Confusion flickered in her sleepy eyes.
"Aren’t you going to sleep here?" she asked softly.
Tryson stopped in his tracks.
For a moment, he stood still before turning back to face her, a quiet resolve in his expression. He gently shook his head.
"I think it’ll be reasonable if I sleep away from you," Tryson said calmly.
Angel wanted to protest, to urge him to stay, but deep down, she knew he wouldn’t listen.
There was a quiet finality in his tone, a wall she couldn’t break through. With no other choice, she bit her lip, a faint sting of hurt settling in her chest.
Still, she forced herself to respond, her voice steady despite the emotions swirling within her.
"Good night, then," she said softly before turning away, resting her head on the bed.
Tryson’s lips curved into a small smile as he spoke.
"Sweet dreams, Angel," he said, his voice low and hoarse.
The sound of it sent a warm flush to Angel’s cheeks, a reaction she couldn’t quite suppress.
But before she could say anything, Tryson turned, flicked off the lights, and silently walked out of the room, leaving her alone with the faint echo of his words lingering in the air.
