THE BILLIONAIRE STILL WANTS HER! -

Chapter 162: Back to the game...
"My only concern right now," Alex mused, his voice laced with casual indifference, though his furrowed brow betrayed deeper contemplation, "is that Arthur isn’t wasting so much time trying to leech power from Angel. If he just focused, we could finally get her back to her family where she belongs." He exhaled softly, as if lost in thought, his gaze momentarily distant.
Riley, sensing the shift in mood, let out a quiet breath, feeling some of her own tension ease.
Without a word, she moved towards one of the plush seats in the dimly lit room and lowered herself into it, her eyes never leaving Alex. After a moment, she spoke, her voice measured but firm.
"Alex, you know Tryson," she said, watching him closely. "There are certain things he would never overlook, and if he ever finds out that you betrayed him..." She hesitated for a split second, letting the weight of her words settle. "What do you think he’ll do?"
Before Alex could respond, the conversation was violently interrupted by the sharp, abrupt creak of the door swinging open.
Both their heads snapped toward the entrance.
Alex’s secretary stood there, but neither of them paid much attention to her—because standing just beyond her, his presence like a storm rolling in, was the very man they had been speaking about.
Riley’s breath caught in her throat. Not because of the secretary’s intrusion, but because of the piercing gaze of Tryson, now fixed directly on them. A cold wave of realization washed over her.
He had heard everything.
Tryson.
His hands were buried deep in the pockets of his tailored trousers as he strode toward them, his movements slow yet deliberate, each step laced with unspoken fury.
Though his expression remained carefully controlled, his eyes burned with a fire that made the air in the room feel heavier.
"I see," he said coolly, his voice a blade sharpened with icy precision. "You’re having a little meeting."
Riley stiffened. She could feel her pulse hammering against her ribs, a frantic rhythm that refused to settle.
Tryson’s gaze locked onto hers, unyielding, cutting through her like glass. It was the kind of stare that made her want to shrink away, to avert her eyes—but she couldn’t. Not with the weight of his presence pressing down on her like this.
His next words sent another chill through her.
"She’s involved too," he said flatly, yet his voice carried a venom that made the room feel a degree colder.
Riley swallowed hard. This was bad. Very bad.
"Tryson, listen," she started, her voice steady despite the whirlwind of panic twisting inside her.
She had to regain control of the situation—had to find a way to turn this around before it spiraled beyond her grasp.
But the way Tryson was looking at her, the storm brewing just beneath the surface.
She wasn’t sure if words would be enough.
The worst thing Riley feared in that moment was having to face Tryson in a battle.
Not in her wildest dreams. Not even in her nightmares.
Tryson’s voice sliced through the heavy silence like a blade.
"What did you do, Riley?" he demanded, his tone razor-sharp, void of patience. "That’s one question, and I expect you to answer—now."
His words carried a weight that made Riley’s breath hitch. She swallowed hard, feeling the tightness in her throat, her pulse hammering wildly beneath her skin.
Every nerve in her body screamed at her to move, to speak, to do anything—but all she could do was turn her head, her gaze flickering toward Alex.
Her eyes locked onto him, wide and pleading, silently urging him to step in, to explain, to do something before this situation became irreversible.
Tryson wasn’t having it.
"I’m still here, aren’t I?" he muttered, his voice low but laced with an unmistakable edge of danger.
The sound of his voice alone sent a fresh wave of chills down Riley’s spine. She snapped her head back toward him, but the moment she met his unyielding stare, she found herself swallowing hard once more.
This was bad.
Really bad.
And she had no idea how to get out of it.
"Listen, Tryson. Whatever happened... Alex can explain it," Riley said, her voice strained as she attempted to force a reassuring smile.
But before she could finish, a sharp gasp tore from her lips.
The room seemed to freeze as Tryson pulled out a gun, the cold steel gleaming under the dim light.
The barrel was pointed directly at them, unwavering, steady.
Riley’s breath hitched in her throat. A scream escaped her before she could stop it, her voice echoing off the walls.
Her heart pounded erratically, her chest rising and falling in panicked breaths. She hadn’t expected this—not from Tryson. Not like this. But the look in his eyes told her everything. He wasn’t bluffing. He was dead serious.
What had pushed him this far?
Had his obsession with that girl consumed him so completely that he was willing to go to these lengths?
Riley’s hands flew to her head, her body reacting on instinct. She squeezed her eyes shut, trembling, as if bracing for the deafening crack of a gunshot. Her mind screamed at her to move, to do something—but all she could do was panic.
And then, Tryson shifted.
Without a word, he turned the gun away from her and aimed it directly at his father.
The silence that followed was suffocating.
And then, in a voice laced with cold determination, Tryson boldly declared—
"I trusted you, Father," Tryson said, his voice devoid of warmth, every word laced with bitter betrayal. His grip on the gun tightened, his knuckles turning white. "And whatever happened... it was because of you."
Before anyone could react—
Bang!
The deafening gunshot shattered the air like thunder.
Riley barely had time to process what had happened before a scream ripped from her throat, raw and uncontrollable. Her entire body jolted, her breath catching in her lungs as the sharp scent of gunpowder filled the room.
Her wide, terrified eyes darted toward Tryson’s father.
Had he—?
Her pulse pounded wildly, her hands trembling as she struggled to understand the nightmare unfolding before her.
And Tryson... he hadn’t even flinched.
