Chapter 158: But Arthur was the one who murdered...

Hearing Michael’s words, Jude couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of confusion and frustration flood his chest as he furrowed his brow and spoke sharply, his voice laced with disbelief.

"But Arthur was the one who murdered her mother," he muttered, the weight of the truth hanging in the air like a heavy shroud.

Jude’s mind raced, struggling to piece together the chaotic fragments of information, as his eyes darted from Tryson to Michael.

A sudden realization seemed to hit him like a lightning bolt, and he couldn’t help but let out a breath of understanding.

"He’s the one manipulating Angel. That bastard," Jude seethed, his words dripping with a mix of anger and betrayal.

His frustration only deepened as the gravity of the situation began to sink in, each second feeling like it stretched into eternity.

Tryson exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair as he attempted to explain the complexity of the situation, his voice heavy with concern.

"It really doesn’t matter what Arthur is doing right now. The real danger is in what he’s feeding Angel at this very moment. God only knows what he’s telling her or how she’s processing all of this," Tryson said, his eyes wide with a mixture of worry and regret, as if he could already sense the damage Arthur’s manipulation was causing.

Jude’s frustration boiled over, and he clutched at his temples, as if trying to hold the thoughts in his head from spilling out.

"I told you, Tryson. I told you to tell her everything from the beginning—what was actually happening. She’s going to be hurt, beyond anything we can imagine," he said, his voice cracking with the weight of his guilt and frustration.

It was clear that he felt the consequences of their silence pressing in on him, suffocating him.

Tryson, his face pale with the burden of responsibility, shook his head slowly.

"It doesn’t matter right now, Jude. We can’t go back and fix what’s already been done." His voice was tight, and the sense of helplessness that lingered between them was palpable.

"Come to think of it... didn’t you say she was in Arthur’s custody just last night?" Micheal words seemed to hang in the air, and Jude’s sharp gaze shifted towards Michael, who was now shifting his attention between the two of them, looking for answers.

Jude’s eyes narrowed as he leaned back against the wall, folding his arms and trying to push down the rising tide of panic that threatened to consume him.

"Yeah, so what? What does that change?" he said nonchalantly, but the tension in his posture spoke volumes.

The casualness in his voice didn’t match the storm brewing inside him.

Michael, his eyes darting between them, let out a frustrated sigh.

"Well, listen, I know this might not work, but have you tried calling Arthur? You said it yourself, Jude—Arthur wouldn’t want to get involved, right?"

His words were almost an attempt to offer some kind of solution, though it was clear he wasn’t sure it would do any good.

"I already tried calling him, Michael," Tryson cut in, his voice tense and clipped, the weight of the failure hanging between them like a dark cloud.

The silence that followed was thick with unspoken thoughts and the gnawing realization that they were running out of time.

At that moment, a sudden clarity washed over Jude, as if the final puzzle piece had fallen into place. He stood up from his seat, the weight of his thoughts grounding him to the present.

His eyes met Tryson and Michael’s, who were still processing the information he had just revealed, and he spoke with a surprising calmness, though beneath his words lay the simmering intensity of the situation.

"Yeah, about that... I received a phone call this morning," Jude began, his voice steady, but carrying an unspoken gravity. He let the words hang in the air for a moment before continuing.

Both Tryson and Michael immediately turned their attention to him, their expressions tightening with curiosity and confusion. Jude paused before meeting their gazes directly.

"It was from Arthur’s phone line," he revealed, his words striking like a cold gust of wind.

At that, Tryson’s face contorted in disbelief, and he raised his eyebrows, his voice low but sharp. "Arthur?" he muttered, clearly stunned by the news.

Jude could only nod, watching as Tryson’s features shifted from shock to something darker.

"His wife, Sophia," Jude continued, his voice still composed, but his mind racing. "He was planning on aborting their child. He instructed his driver to take her to the hospital... but thankfully, she was able to contact us before they could get anywhere near the place," Jude explained, his words flowing out with a mix of frustration and disbelief.

He could see the shock ripple across Tryson’s face, but it was Michael who spoke next, his voice laced with rage.

"He was about to abort his child? That bastard," Tryson erupted, his voice full of indignation, his fists clenching at his sides.

He was clearly overwhelmed by the revelation, a mixture of anger and confusion taking hold of him as he processed the twisted actions of the man they were dealing with. But even as fury burned in his eyes, he knew they couldn’t afford to lose focus.

"So where is she?" he asked, the urgency in his voice palpable now.

Jude exhaled slowly, his expression somber as he thought of Sophia.

"She’s probably in the living room," he said, his tone softening just slightly. "But right now, we need to make sure she’s comfortable. She’s been through a lot, and she’s the key to understanding how we can handle this mess with Arthur. She’s got a lot of information that could help us. If we’re well-informed, maybe we can finally figure out what the hell to do next."

Tryson nodded, his gaze hardening as he refocused on the task at hand.

"Right. Let’s make sure she’s okay first, then we can figure out how to deal with Arthur." The determination in his voice was unwavering now, as if the shocking news had only steeled his resolve.

"Yeah, Moses must have attended to her already. We could ask her these questions," Tryson said casually, ready to move toward the living room.

But before he could take another step, Jude’s hand shot out, gripping Tryson’s arm firmly, halting him in his tracks.

Tryson turned to face Jude, his brow furrowing slightly, as if questioning what had just made him pause. There was something in the air—something unspoken—that Jude needed to address.

"Listen, Tryson," Jude began, his voice calm but carrying an edge of seriousness that made Tryson pause, his attention fully on Jude now. "I didn’t want to say this, but I think it’s time you really understand your position in all of this." Jude’s words were measured, but they held weight, and Tryson’s expression shifted as he braced himself. "The fact that Arthur and Alex have decided to make this situation suffocating... you know how exactly that could feel, right? Alex decided to betray you, and Arthur... well, we both know how much of an idiot he’s being in all of this."

Jude let the words sink in, watching the flicker of understanding cross Tryson’s face. "If we find Angel, and that’s a big if, I think it’s time you tell her the full truth. The real circumstances of what’s been going on. She’s going to be furious when she finds out the nonsense Arthur’s been filling her head with. And she has a right to know."

The silence that followed was heavy, and Tryson’s gaze grew distant for a moment as he processed what Jude had just said. After a long pause, Tryson nodded slowly, as if coming to terms with the reality of what needed to be done.

"Yeah, you’re right," he said calmly, his voice tinged with the weight of the decision now resting on him.

Jude studied him for a moment, seeing the resolve set in Tryson’s eyes.

"What about the result? What did it confirm?" Jude asked softly, his voice now lowering to a more contemplative tone.

It was clear that there were still questions left unanswered, and he needed to know what they had learned in order to move forward.

"I was drugged last night," Tryson said without hesitation, his voice flat but tinged with disbelief as he finally admitted what had been haunting him.

Jude’s eyes narrowed, the realization sinking in like a stone. "I knew it, they must have done something," he murmured under his breath, the words slipping out before he could stop them. But Tryson caught them, his gaze snapping to Jude in an instant.

"How could they have managed to drug me, though? I was so cautious about everything last night," Tryson’s voice was laced with frustration and confusion, his mind replaying every moment in search of how he could have been caught off guard.

Jude’s expression softened slightly as he considered the possibility, leaning back slightly, his tone steady and calm.

"Knowing your father, Tryson, there must have been some kind of tactic, some statistic or method he could have laced without you even realizing it. Probably something you inhaled or came into contact with without being aware of it." Jude’s eyes were focused, his thoughts methodical. "You know your father so well, and you know how he operates. He’s always been a master at these kinds of manipulations, finding ways to slip through the cracks."

Tryson stood still, his mind working through the possibilities. The thought of his father being so calculating, so subtle in his approach, was enough to stir up a storm of anger and helplessness within him.

He’d been cautious, yet somehow, his father had outmaneuvered him, slipping something under his radar.

"So they really planned this," Tryson muttered under his breath, his voice darkening. "They knew exactly how to get to me."
