The Beautiful Boss's Personal Bodyguard -
Chapter 82
Chapter 82: Chapter 82
Tang Su looked at him with an expressionless face, "Saying hello? Are you afraid I’ll disgrace the Tang Family, disgrace you? A nightclub, just mentioning it is enough to make the face of a city party secretary like you turn red. And yet it’s your own daughter who is running it, how unsightly it would be to talk about."
Underneath the table, Tang Guoqing’s hand clenched and then relaxed, then clenched again, and finally, it relaxed. "You go out first, follow me to the Tan Family tomorrow. If you’re willing to bring that Ye Tian along, then do so. I don’t..."
"I got it." Tang Su turned and left before Tang Guoqing could finish speaking.
The Lei family of Beiping City had not been absent from its presence in the eight-year war of resistance, the three-year civil war, and later on, in the Korean War, the counter-war against Vietnam, and the two mountain campaigns. It was such a steely and clanging family that raised a monster like Lei Bao.
Prodigal sons from lands of rouge and powder is probably a description fitting for Nanjing, but not for Lei Bao. Although he was born in Nanjing, the true character of a Beiping man was inherited undiluted within him. Sadly for the Lei family, they had two sons and had produced five daughters. When the sixth son was born, the entire Lei family held a feast for three days; the Lei family finally had a successor!
Lei Bao, who lived in Nanjing for five years, did not indulge in the extravagance of this land of gold and rouge. However, upon returning to Four-nine City, the increasingly grown Lei Bao had completely developed the appearance of a girl, with pale cheeks and skin even more delicate than a girl’s, combined with those delicate facial features, a natural handsome rascal. However, this child, with a beauty’s face, used his fists to beat up all the children in the military compound who dared to mock him. If one came, he’d fight; if two came, he’d still fight; until he was pinned to the ground and still struggling, even using his teeth to make other children bleed.
Later, the child reportedly went deep into the mountains and learned his skills from a master, and stayed for twelve years. Starting from hitting wooden dummies, his tender little hands were already cut open by numerous gashes. At the age of twenty, after defeating his master, Lei Bao came down from the mountain. Entering the army, Lei Bao truly found his paradise, becoming the undefeated champion in the army ranks.
But how did he end up defeated at the hands of someone who looked like a simple country bumpkin?
Looking at the Leopard lying on the hospital bed, staring fixedly at the ceiling, Ping Jie handed over a peeled apple, "Still thinking about that guy?"
An expected silence.
Ping Jie smiled, withdrew the apple, and sliced a piece with a knife to put into her mouth, savoring it carefully.
Today, Ping Jie was dressed in a Qipao, a purple python design adorned with sparkling tiny scales that exuded a natural allure, easily drawing the attention of men. Her knowledgeable and elegant demeanor added greatly to her lethality.
Lei Bao lay on the bed, constantly thinking about that day’s situation. The true meaning of ’one force to subdue ten sessions!’ In the face of absolute power, his own Wing Chun seemed as childish and crude as children playing house.
"Leopard, if you ask me, you shouldn’t think too much. Just casually finding someone could kill him, and if not kill, at least cripple him. Why bother getting your own hands dirty."
This was said by a fat man, none other than Fatty Long from the dog fighting arena, who was now sitting with his legs crossed, playing with his phone, his tone full of disdain.
"I’ll handle my own matters, my fists are still here."
"Leopard, don’t be so stubborn, there are many people in this world that we don’t know about. Confidence is a good thing, but too much confidence is just arrogance. I believe your old man must have told you countless times about the saying ’pride comes before a fall,’ but I still want to say it here, there are many people we shouldn’t mess with. Winning the battle doesn’t mean winning the war. The predicaments we get into are often of our own making. You’re not young anymore, you should start using your head to think through problems. Relying on fists to do the talking isn’t a sustainable strategy."
The man with the defiant face heard these words and showed no reaction, simply asking indifferently, "How’s Xue?"
"What else could be wrong with that girl? Seeing her brother Leopard getting beaten, she was crying and screaming for us to take revenge for you. By the time we got there, the perpetrator was long gone. Now, she’s sobbing her heart out in the hotel room. Oh, right, Qin Chuan is still in the ICU, he should be out in a couple of days."
"He got hurt too?"
"Yeah, that kid sent him flying. It must have been someone who practices Baji Fist, as told by Ping Jie. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have sustained internal injuries."
"How is he doing now?" Leopard seemed anxious.
Fatty Long put down the item in his hand and pulled out a charger from his Crayon Shin-chan backpack to charge his phone. "He’s fine; it seems the kid showed some mercy, no serious injuries. It’s you who nearly lost half your life."
Hearing about nearly losing half his life, Leopard’s thoughts went back to those almost blood-smeared eyes, "When he said he’d take half your life, he meant exactly that, not a fraction more."
Leopard’s grip left five holes in the white sheets.
Ping Jie looked at his pale knuckles, and chose not to speak anymore. Anything further could just make things unpleasant for both of them. After all, their relationship was merely that of friends who hung around together, nothing more than a small individual circle. There was no need to escalate things to the point of a fallout over one incident. She was aware that Leopard was a ruthless man, too harsh both in action and personality, leaving no room for others. Unlike Long Hua, who appeared careless but was actually thoughtful, and while he wasn’t capable of harboring grand schemes, he could still manage a solo journey by canoe. Leopard, on the other hand, was entirely different; he wouldn’t let even an ant pass—he had to crush it, smash it into oblivion.
A typical psychopathic mindset.
"Leopard, I advise you, just let it go. I’ve sent people to investigate, utilizing all my connections. In this Huaizhou City, the notable people are just those few, and this kid is really an outsider. At the end of it all, he’s just a bar bouncer. Really, I’m not lying to you. We shouldn’t get worked up over such a small fry. Losing face isn’t worth it, it doesn’t look good."
Ping Jie shook her head. Fatty Long really had a complicated mind—was he trying to make peace or stir things up?
"You guys go ahead, I want to sleep."
Ping Jie and Fatty Long exchanged glances, then both shook their heads—no way he could sleep at a time like this.
Leopard also turned over on the hospital bed, his back to the window, facing the white wall, his mind flickering with more and more thoughts.
This man, pale as death, was well aware of what these people were thinking, but he couldn’t help it. A soldier being slapped by a General is not a disgrace, but being stabbed by a mere hooligan is intolerable no matter what. He wasn’t like Long Hua, bold yet diligent; nor was he Ping Jie, the slippery eel of the political world. This man, both confident and arrogant, proud yet insecure, was destined to be as stubborn as a mad bull, never ceasing until he achieved his goal. He’d suffocate if he couldn’t snap his own neck from that stubbornness.
