The Beautiful Boss's Personal Bodyguard -
Chapter 472 - 471
Chapter 472: 471
"It’s just a calf; can’t even sit on it without complaints, don’t be so stingy. If it gets ruined, I’ll just buy you another one,"
Ye Tian waved his hand, pretending to be generous.
Jenny became even more anxious. She knew that aside from this disciple of hers who refused to study the Buddhist Law with her, the master’s most treasured thing was the White Bull that never seemed to grow. She herself wouldn’t dare to sit on it, yet here was Ye Tian, treating it roughly, practically asking for a death wish!
"Please, have a seat."
Jenny, who was urging Ye Tian to get off the bull, suddenly turned around in surprise to see an old woman sitting on a stone stool with both hands on a white cane, her face full of confusion and disbelief. But as she realized what was happening, she became even more puzzled. How could this bull sit so quietly while this man sat on its back? Usually, this creature would drink nothing but cow’s milk, eat nothing but tender grass, and its resting place was laid with imported, thick, Russian fur carpets. The milk had to be fresh from a cow that just calved, without any contamination from other calves, and its tender grass wasn’t just any tender grass—it had to be the first sprouts of spring, and only from grass seedlings, not eating any other types of grass.
The tender grass was hard to come by, but fortunately, this little bull didn’t eat much; a bite of green vegetables and it wouldn’t need to eat for at least a month, a sip of milk and it would comfortably sleep in the cowshed for a month, so, after every full meal, the old woman would start a new round of life-or-death struggles, personally running all over Nepal to collect tender grass and to find the right cow for milk.
Every time she went out to gather food, she was taken for a criminal. Once, she was even mistaken for a child trafficker and dragged towards the Public Security Bureau before she knocked out the two young men, who had stepped aside to urinate, with a little trick and then returned home with fresh milk and grass, only to be chased around the yard by the White Bull.
And now, this bull, which she had painstakingly cared for and nearly spoiled into perfection, was actually obediently allowing Ye Tian, this smelly brat, to sit on it.
"You ungrateful wretch! How many times have I asked to sit on you, and you would either kick up or grunt and squeal? Now you surrender yourself willingly to someone of your own kind?"
Ye Tian snickered. He had no clue about such matters, but from her expression, he could tell roughly what was going on—the girl was venting her anger on the White Bull.
"Or maybe you should take my place. I don’t seem to get along with this bull. I think I’d better sit on the ground."
"No need, keep sitting. It would really be something if you could ride this bull out. Kid, what did you say to it?"
Ye Tian gave the old woman a thumbs up and said, "Experience does count. Spot on guess." But he inappropriately thought to himself how she did not use such a skill on the gambling table, where her piercing gaze could almost foresee someone’s fate. If she really set up a dice-throwing stall on the street, it would surely attract a crowd, then she could just sit back and collect the money.
"I didn’t say much, just that we have a special connection, after all, there’s more to talk about amongst our own kind. Granny, this creature hasn’t been in the best of moods lately."
At this moment, Jenny had taken a seat, and together with Ye Tian on the White Bull, the three of them formed a ’品’ shape around the stone table. The old woman gave Ye Tian a sideways glance, her thick puffy eyes seemingly exerting a thousand pounds of force just to barely lift, and this casual glance made Ye Tian feel uneasy all over.
"Really? Then tell me, why is Bai feeling so down? Let me in on it too."
Old Granny knew very well how Bai was feeling. Ever since returning from India last month, Bai had been in low spirits. Now, it had been several days without eating or drinking—neither milky tender grass nor the holy water from the temple tempted it; instead, it just gazed silently toward the east like a desolate statue pining for its lost wife. As the mount of Shiva, Bai was a celestial creature. She had attempted to communicate with Bai using her own spiritual power but was unexpectedly repelled by the powerful spiritual power residing within Bai. To cap it off, Bai even turned around and let out two loud farts in her direction.
Could this youngster really know what the issue is?
She was only half-convinced by Ye Tian. This guy didn’t possess a trace of spiritual power in his body, let alone have the strength to contend with her. Yet what was strange was how he had managed earlier to withstand the Hell’s Fury in her courtyard?
She decided to let him speak his piece. But to her surprise, Ye Tian didn’t give her the time of day. He kept fiddling with Bai’s ears, or patting its rear, or even pinching the two little grapes beneath its body—he just wouldn’t pay any attention to the old lady standing by, waiting.
"Damn kid, are you going to talk or not!"
Old Granny’s eyes flashed fiercely.
Unexpectedly, Ye Tian was not at all intimidated by her tactics, and instead, stroked Bai’s head, sighing profoundly, "Ah, Bai, my Bai, who would have thought that you, a divine beast from the heavens, would live such a miserable life in the Human World. You’re starved and poorly clothed and you’re being tormented live. Life is worse than death!" Seemingly not content with just talking, Ye Tian started singing, "Little white cabbage! The heart is yellowish! At the age of three or two, without a mother!..."
This half-truth, half-song actually made Bai under Ye Tian’s bottom tear up. Tears fell like beads off a broken string, pitter-pattering onto the bluestone slabs in the courtyard, shattering into a spray of droplets.
This won’t do at all!
"Shut up, you brat!" Old Granny got up from the stone bench, slamming her white cane twice on the ground, causing Bai to stop shedding tears immediately.
Ye Tian swiftly changed his tune,
"I send you away, to a land far away, are you still there? Where are you in this life? Life and death are unpredictable, waiting for a lifetime..."
Instantly, like floodgates opening, Bai began to cry even more sorrowfully. The tears that were falling like broken pearls now poured like large and small pearls onto a jade plate, forming dense lines, a torrential downpour arriving in the blink of an eye. No matter how many times Old Granny tapped her white cane, it was of no use. Once the gates of sorrow were opened, they could not be closed.
Hearing Ye Tian talk about distant places and the unpredictability of life and death, Old Granny knew there was no solution now. Bai was always so melancholic and sensitive; it used to howl for a long time just seeing Old Granny eating meat, so in the current situation, it was downright unbearable.
