Chapter 281: 281

————————————————

At the train station, an eye-catching combination of handsome guys and a beast made an appearance: a hulking man, at least two meters tall with an equally impressive breadth, practically a spitting image of a blind bear. If it wasn’t for his military green uniform, he might have been mistaken for a terrorist and reported to the police. This bear’s stark opposite were the two handsome men flanked on either side of him.

Handsome guys indeed.

The youngest of the three, Zhuge Qingyun, was the distinguished third-generation representative of the Zhuge family, but he did a fairly lousy job at it. In high school, he knocked someone up, and although Old Man Zhuge cleaned up the mess for him, the family still lost quite a bit because of it. As for what was lost, he couldn’t care less. In his eyes, all that was crap; only being happy mattered most. And in the end, the girl was even crying and insisting, "I’m willing!" The old men should beat duos into singles, meaning it was their fault, really. Eventually, after being kicked out of National Defense Science and Technology University with the worst grades, he joined the military, but to everyone’s surprise, this little bastard headed off to the Northeast, which made the Old Man Zhuge of the Beiping military district so furious he nearly blew smoke from his eyes.

Long Daxiang, a monster with the power of a dragon and an elephant combined, may not be able to uproot willow trees, but he could certainly handle aspens three years thick. When the troops were short on materials for a roadblock, it was this big guy who ripped out over twenty trees with his bare hands and threw them right into the middle of the road, positioning them with an artisan’s touch into triangle and hexagon formations. The special structure made the roadblock extremely sturdy. The enemy’s demolition team tried to blast through for ten minutes to no avail. Later, the brothers discovered that this kid had graduated from Nankai University’s architecture program.

These two, without exception, were absolutely devoted to Shen Jingwei.

"Brother Wei, how do we go? Should I find you a car?" Zhuge Qingyun threw a flirty wink at a glammed-up woman driving a Maserati by the roadside, who immediately caught it, and then shamelessly electrified the air around her, as if her fluttering eyelashes were giant hands trying to snatch up this young soldier.

"I think we can run there. If we’re lucky, we’ll make it in under an hour."

Idiot. Zhuge Qingyun rolled his eyes at him.

Shen Jingwei glanced to the left and right and said indifferently, "Let’s take the bus. I’ve only got five yuan left in my pocket."

The bus! The jaws of the two beside him dropped to the floor, shattering into pieces, irretrievable.

The once empty bus was no longer spacious. The very last row, behind the rear of the bus, was firmly occupied by three people. In fact, Long Daxiang alone took up more than half the space, his broad figure like a small mountain blocking the view through the rear window. The conductor took one look at the three passengers, then at the doorframe above which had been dented by an impact, and silently marveled that the world is truly full of wonders.

"Brother Wei..."

"Don’t call me Brother Wei at home anymore."

Little Zhuge nodded, "Yes, Big Brother Wei."

Following Shen Jingwei’s cue, Long Daxiang pulled Little Zhuge over and wrapped an arm around his neck for quite a while, only letting go when the poor kid begged for mercy.

"Sir, I put one hundred yuan inside, could you open it for me?"

"No way, only the company’s staff can open it. Hurry up, others need to get on the bus too."

"But that won’t do, that’s one hundred yuan. Give it to me!"

"Hey, what’s with you? Can’t you understand? That money isn’t my responsibility, and I can’t deal with it. Either get on or piss off! Stinking migrant worker, carrying such a huge pack!"

Shen Jingwei frowned.

The bus descended into chaos.

It all started when a mistake was made during the coin dropping, and the driver refused to return the one hundred yuan. A simple incident, but one that enraged the crowd due to the bus driver’s few words.

"How can you talk like that?" The voice was clearly lacking confidence. Shen Jingwei looked over and saw it was the migrant worker with the big pack.

The driver snorted, "How do I talk? I use my mouth, duh. What do you think I’d use?"

"Give me my money."

"No money for you. Keep making a fuss, and I’ll call the cops right away, make you unable to go home and keep you at the Public Security Bureau instead." As he spoke, the bus driver picked up the walkie-talkie in front of him, eyeing the migrant worker with the backpack.

The worker’s face darkened with resentment, and his dark complexion twitched with anger.

"Are you going or not? I need to go home and cook after work."

"It’s just one hundred yuan, what’s the big deal?"

"Hurry up."

The crowd was against him; not a single person spoke up. The migrant worker placed his pack, wrapped in a blanket, onto the bus, sat on top of it, and turned his head away, refusing to let the others see his face. The satisfied driver attempted to close the bus doors... couldn’t close them? Turning around, he saw a giant approaching, bending down as he walked, straight to the coin slot.

"...What are you doing? I’m going to call... call the police..."

Long Daxiang suddenly flashed the driver a grin, giving the driver a good scare. "Uncle driver, you can’t bully the migrant workers."

"Crack! Smash! Crash!" Sounds tore through the air followed by a shower of coins hitting the floor as Long Daxiang twisted the tempered glass coin slot right off the bus. His strength was immense, like ripping apart a tiger or splitting a leopard!

"Uncle, here’s your money. Just remember to have small change ready next time before you board the bus, okay?"

The worker was stunned, then overjoyed. He bowed repeatedly, thanking him profusely. Long Daxiang waved it off as no big deal.

When the driver finally snapped out of it and turned around, there was no longer a trace of that giant.

Ye Tian had only given an address over the phone; fearing the soldier he was speaking to might forget, he suggested writing it down... and then, there was no ’then’. Ye Tian looked at the empty handset, smacking his lips, thinking how much more badass the troops are these days compared to back then. Shen Jingwei better not be getting unruly.

His worry was unnecessary, as the future elites of the military would surely remember an address, especially when it was associated with the legendary military figure, Shen Jingwei.

Following that single, lonely address, three off-duty soldiers precisely targeted the other end of the city, crossing the entire urban landscape from the train station to Imperial View. Ye Tian, who was hunched over studying "Wealth of Nations," heard a knock at the door. Opening it, he saw a handsome face. Behind him were two unfamiliar faces, but from their looks, they seemed to be no ordinary people.
