The Beautiful Boss's Personal Bodyguard -
Chapter 276
Chapter 276: 276
"Now, the public funds in Tianhe are all controlled by the government and bond institutions. Ordinary people like us simply have no access, no matter how much money we have. Even if we take the money and offer it to them, they won’t give us the time of day because eventually, that money will end up in their hands anyway. You could say that the public fund sector is dead. At least, it’s a dead end for us. The public funds in Tianhe City are not doing well precisely because of this reason—they are controlled by a handful of tycoons. Outsiders can’t get in, and insiders won’t come out. But private equity is a different story. Tianhe has a market and opportunities. The wealthy people here might not necessarily be fewer than those in Shanghai or Shenzhen. If those places could have a Shanghai Stock Exchange, why can’t we engage in the same business? If there are leaders and suitable, safe channels, a whirlwind will definitely sweep through Tianhe. I do not believe people would refuse to make money."
It appears she had done extensive research into this matter, otherwise she wouldn’t have been able to compile such detailed data and information.
"Although Binhai Industrial is a listed company with fairly good profits and reputation, this is not its ultimate destiny. You’ve seen the company’s financial statements, you should know what the problem is, right?"
"There are no major problems. Generally speaking, all companies are more or less the same in this respect. But the issue is with its equity structure. It’s not conducive to making flexible, correct, long-term strategic decisions. There will always be someone who speaks out and disagrees."
"That’s right. As for the real spokesperson of Binhai, we can ignore that for now because it’s not my target. Mentioning its finances is just for reference. What I want to say is that every type of company has issues with equity distribution, especially listed companies, where control and grasp over the equity is more stringent. But in fact, what the stock exchange does is simply a public recruitment under the guise of a trading platform. So, I want to do private equity. I want to do it for the whole city."
Such great ambition. But, I like it.
"You don’t have to be so amazed. Private equity is just another way of saying fundraising, very common, or you could call it borrowing or, to put it bluntly, writing IOUs. Success is easy, but losing everything and falling into debt is even easier. Alright, I’ve said my piece. Now it’s your turn to share your thoughts." Zheng Xinru picked up the teapot to pour herself a cup of tea, then sipped with her head lowered.
Leaning back on the sofa, Ye Tian’s mind began to race. Ever since he returned from the battlefield, he had been wandering and contending within the concrete jungles, negotiating with people who weren’t pushovers. Before every move, he would meticulously weigh and predict, considering every detail; not just for his own sake but for unfinished business that, should he die, no one else would carry on. He was lucky to say the least, as he had survived until now and had almost become a prominent figure in Tianhe City. However, these weren’t reasons for Ye Tian to be reckless. Instead, they made him even more cautious and careful. He understood all that Zheng Xinru spoke of, but he was also well aware of the inherent risks.
The timeless truth that the return you receive is proportional to the price you pay still holds true after a thousand years.
"Why seek me out?"
That was the first question Ye Tian asked, and it would also be his last.
Zheng Xinru looked at him and then glanced toward the inner room where Tang Su sat, "Because you have many qualities common among successful people. Perseverance, determination, resilience, young but not reckless, mature and prudent—so many."
"As you said, these traits are common phenomena." Ye Tian proceeded with extreme cautiousness with his next move. After all, this woman was just someone with whom he had a three-year agreement, and she was the one who set him up and ousted him initially. From beginning to end, she had been pulling the strings.
Zheng Xinru was pleased with Ye Tian’s questioning; as long as he didn’t reject her outright, there was hope.
"To tell you the truth, there’s only one reason I’m interested in you. It’s because you are too much like Pingrui."
Ye Tian was taken aback, then he laughed, "Sister Zheng is joking. Mr. Chen is a hero of his time. How can a small-time security guard like me compare to Mr. Chen?"
"Don’t play that game with me. Are you saying you haven’t studied Pingrui thoroughly? Otherwise, how would you have thought to connect with Zuo Zhengyang? You clever boy, trying to trick your Sister Zheng."
Ye Tian laughed, nodded in agreement, and understood.
Ye Tian hadn’t anticipated that Zheng Xinru was here for this reason. His heart hadn’t adjusted to it yet; things that he couldn’t completely control always kept his mind on edge. What she said had indeed been tempting, more exciting than winning the lottery.
"Has she gone?"
"Yes. She talked about some work matters."
Tang Su sat quietly in the guest room chair, with a floor-to-ceiling window in front, clean and tidy. Through the window, she could see the vast barren lands and the endless horizon.
Ye Tian placed his hands on Tang Su’s shoulders and gently massaged them. Tang Su did not resist, continuing to look down at the "History of Western Philosophy" on her lap. The morning sunlight scattered over her through the window, warm and comforting. Tang Su’s quiet reaction made Ye Tian smile with joy. Originally resting on her shoulders, his hands began to wander down restlessly. The soft feeling from his palms made his heart throb.
"This is the sixteenth floor. If you have enough confidence in the hardness of your body, I don’t mind throwing you out of this window."
The glaring floor-to-ceiling window seemed to caution Ye Tian to be careful, as it was bolstered by Tang Su’s imperceptible breeze of a challenge. Unable to beat the glass, and even less able to overpower the Tang Su quietly reading in her chair, Ye Tian inwardly sighed then reluctantly withdrew his hands, a hint of grievance in his eyes.
Closing the book on her lap, Tang Su looked out over the expanse outside the window and asked, "Did she want to talk to you about starting a private equity fund?"
Ye Tian was startled, then regained his composure. His wife was a force to be reckoned with all on her own, having single-handedly built up a bar. There was nothing she didn’t know. He nodded, "Yes. She mentioned it, trying to pull me into the venture."
Tang Su turned back, raising an eyebrow, "Don’t tell me you came to consult me on this."
"Heh heh, my dear, isn’t that why I’m asking you?"
With these matters, Tang Su understood better than he did. Whenever he encountered a difficult problem, he would consult Tang Su. Otherwise, books like "Game Theory" and "Western Economics," tedious and dull as they were, would not be on the shelf. All the notes inside were taken under Tang Su’s dictation, pressing Ye Tian with a washboard—it was a far cry from shooting that he was used to. He is extremely lazy.
