The Beautiful Boss's Personal Bodyguard -
Chapter 259
Chapter 259: 259
The car was Chen Pingrui’s Audi A4, and now this car had become Zheng Xinru’s exclusive mount. Everyone in Tianhe City knew that Zheng Xinru was now living for Chen Pingrui. She was determined to fulfill the wishes that Chen Pingrui hadn’t fulfilled and accomplish the things he hadn’t completed.
"Sister Zheng, where are we going now?"
When someone is down and out, the best place to go is naturally the bar to drown their sorrows in booze. But now, in broad daylight, which bar would be open?
"Yalan Club. Do you know where that is?"
Thinking that Ye Tian hadn’t actually spent much time with Chen Pingrui, Zheng Xinru asked.
"I know. There are only a few famous places in Tianhe City. Just asking around will get you there."
Right, that makes sense. Tianhe Hotel, Fengyue Inn, Yalan Club, City Government Building—Tianhe City’s four major landmarks, known by everyone far and wide.
Tianhe Hotel, its top floor crowned with a diamond-shaped steeple made of ten kilograms of gold, firmly surpassing Beiping City’s Beiping Restaurant;
Fengyue Residence, the real-world Mantuo Villa, where everyone took pride in receiving an invitation from Chen Pingrui. Anyone who had been to Mantuo Villa could enjoy free services at any of Chen Pingrui’s companies—complete freebies, whether it be the two-thousand-dollar-a-bottle cognac in the bars or anything within Fengyu Inn’s accommodations, all handled by dedicated personnel;
City Government Building was not famous for its opulence but because it was the first to be built by the hands of the municipal leading cadre with shovels and picks, with citizens joining in the efforts, hailed as the nation’s first "People’s Heart" government building;
Yalan Club, the first club of Tianhe City. However, there was an unspoken rule here: membership was exclusively male; no women were allowed to join, regardless of who they were. Rules are rules, and no exceptions were made.
Therefore, Ye Tian was puzzled internally. Why would Zheng Xinru choose to go to Yalan Club? To his knowledge, Chen Pingrui wasn’t too familiar with the people there because he wasn’t a member of Yalan Club.
"Sister Zheng, why do you want to go there? It seems like you..."
"It’s nothing special, just going to see some old friends. If I get bullied later on, you’d better not just stand by and watch, okay?"
Ye Tian looked at Zheng Xinru through the rearview mirror and smiled. "Sister Zheng, why would you say that? How could I possibly not help you?"
Zheng Xinru just smiled and said no more.
Yalan Club was located south of the city, facing north—a geographically favorable site, nestled against mountains and near water, which was rather rare in the plains of the North.
European pastoral-style scenery was always pleasing, perhaps due to watching too many Western movies. People from Huaxia always admired European countryside, not realizing it was just another type of farmland. Two people stood at the round iron gate embellished with intricate European scrollwork. When Zheng Xinru handed over the red invitation, they respectfully returned it and then one of them led the way on an electric two-wheeler, with the black Audi following behind.
The wooden door, adorned with dense European carvings and in tones of yellow-brown, the walls of white jade stone, and five pristine, tall columns standing before the door. The grand stairway extending from top to bottom looked too much like the White House in the United States; perhaps the owner here had studied abroad in America. Having returned, he latched onto the White House design—it seems if this person were overseas, they might start building their homes mimicking Tian’an Men Square. These muddled thoughts whirled in Ye Tian’s head as he followed Zheng Xinru up the stairs.
Each stair was quite low, but the total length was extensive, making the climb a tiring ordeal, especially for a tall person like Ye Tian. It forced him to take only small steps and he couldn’t hurry, for not only were the stairs small but also narrow, always tripping him up, and if he wasn’t careful, he might tumble down.
When they arrived at the door, the two stopped.
"Please wait a moment while I go inform the host."
The host?...a maid. Ye Tian had evil thoughts.
After about five minutes, the server emerged, with an apologetic look on his face, "I’m sorry for both of you, but our host says he’s a bit pressed for time, so if you have any business, you may come back tomorrow..."
Without a second thought, Ye Tian waved his hand, brushing aside the sincere apologizing staff, who hastily ducked his head to watch his step, his feet in disarray. If he misstepped, he’d surely fall down the stairs. However, when he raised his head, having steadied from the shock, he found that the two people from before had disappeared. The slightly ajar grand door was open, seemingly welcoming anyone to explore.
Once inside, the place was even more luxurious than it appeared from the outside. If not for the exterior design, Ye Tian would have believed he had entered a British palace. The opulent crystal chandeliers, the visually striking abstract paintings, the wall-mounted fireplace, and the slanted foils—these were all relics of a European royal household.
Perhaps knowing someone would come to receive her, Zheng Xinru was not in a hurry to find anyone but rather calmly sat down on the first-floor sofa, quietly awaiting the host’s arrival. Meanwhile, the staff outside came to urge Ye Tian and his companion to leave several times, but Ye Tian kept tossing the staffer out single-handedly every time. Overflowing confidence and equally immense arrogance.
"Boss Zheng graces us with her presence, truly an honor for this humble abode."
"Oh, isn’t that Boss Zheng’s darling? Why bring them here, to open our eyes?"
"That’s normal. Who is Boss Zheng? She’s the one who can handle men best, otherwise, our Eunuch Rui wouldn’t have fallen into Boss Zheng’s hands either."
The mocking voices could be heard before the speakers came into view, echoing down from the second floor’s corner. Mostly older men around fifty, they looked to be of similar age to Chen Pingrui.
Zheng Xinru watched them coldly without speaking. Seeing her response, the men exchanged glances and then seated themselves. Five people, but only four chairs. Ye Tian occupied the remaining chair.
"Hey, kid, you go sit over there."
A scarred bald man approached him, almost barking the words at Ye Tian, while Zheng Xinru continued to sit calmly on the sofa, the young man who had brought in a chair now seated behind her. He understood everything this woman thought, and the occasional trivial things she’d forget, like bringing money or keys when leaving the house. Zheng Xinru’s silence meant she didn’t want Ye Tian to stand up, at least not yet; she wasn’t ready to see this bald-headed man find a seat.
