The Beautiful Boss's Personal Bodyguard -
Chapter 248
Chapter 248: 248
Luo Liang said with a jesting smirk, "Brother Tian, our fun here isn’t limited to just dogs, the girls here, they are also..."
Watching Luo Liang wickedly stick out a big thumb, Ye Tian shook his head with a laugh, "You, you might just get arrested by the cops one of these days."
"With Brother Tian here, nothing will go wrong, we are all relying on you."
Li Jing frowned slightly. Although he was just standing behind Ye Tian, he could still feel the unpleasant sleaziness emanating from the man.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Ye Tian stepped into Chen Pingrui’s most talked-about achievement for the first time.
Having arranged with Luo Liang to tour the place on his own in advance, he was only followed by a waiter named Guang. Ye Tian didn’t expect to pry any trade secrets from a waiter, besides, that wasn’t his purpose for coming.
Many people were standing in the stands, and rather than entering the private booth that Guang had specifically picked for him, Ye Tian went directly to the most crowded viewing platform. Despite the noisy surroundings, this was the place that best captured the dog fighting arena’s atmosphere. As Grandpa Mao had said, where the people are, that’s where the class foundation is most solid.
"Damn, lost another five million. The game must be rigged. I’ve never seen dogs at a dog fighting arena that only win and never lose before."
"Cut it out! You just don’t want to admit your dog isn’t up to snuff."
"This is Eunuch Rui’s place, no one dares to mess around here."
The group around was eagerly discussing the recent dog fight. From their words, it seemed they were far from satisfied with the outcome. Ye Tian cast one last glance at the dog fight, his lips curling slightly. That American Pit Bull Terrier was clearly doped; it wouldn’t have lasted so long otherwise. Even though the American Pit Bull Terrier is globally recognized as the king of fighting dogs, with high endurance and strong bite force, the Dogo is no joke either, and there’s a clear size difference. Two Dogos against one Pit Bull - that should be a losing fight. The only possibility was that someone applied a numbing agent to the Pit Bull that dulls the nerves, delays, or even eliminates pain.
With tens of millions coming in a night, who would let go of such an opportunity? Ye Tian admitted to himself that he wouldn’t pass it up either, but he wouldn’t be as brazen about it as Luo Liang.
The dog fighting arena here was similar to what Ye Tian had imagined, more or less on par with the one in Huaizhou City. What Ye Tian admired was how Chen Pingrui could control this place from afar while keeping himself entirely uninvolved, something the boys in Huaizhou City couldn’t do. Bringing in investors with connections was a relatively conservative move. In the face of real trouble, no one who could escape would lend a hand just because of their investment. After all, life is more precious than anything.
While the others were still feverishly discussing where to place their bets, Ye Tian’s attention was drawn to the woman standing by the door, with a slouching hooligan beside her. What were they doing here?
Liu Liyue looked up at Ye Tian, and he too noticed the woman: cloaked in a purple mantle, she appeared like an agent of the night under the dim lights, with great power of life and death at her fingertips.
These two had fought their way in, with Qin Gui leading the charge and Liu Liyue walking behind with poised grace. She knew, despite her disdain for Qin Gui, she could rely on him as an enforcer - after all, Jia Dafang’s grandson was no ordinary man. If he couldn’t handle a dozen low-level thugs, he would truly be worthless, likely slinking back to his life as a pampered young master without Liu Liyue having to say a word.
On the ground lay a dozen security guards, each writhing in pain and unable to stand. They couldn’t fathom how one person could defeat all of them, and by the looks of it, he could take on dozens more with ease.
Qin Gui cleared the way, fighting as he walked. Behind him was Liu Liyue in her purple cloak, almost in a fan-formation. The two of them, like arrows, tore through the crowd and made a direct beeline for the interior of the dog fighting arena. Luo Liang, seeing this powerful and influential lady arrive, hurried over to welcome her - after all, she was someone who could easily end his life.
Liu Liyue kept her gaze upwards, towards where Ye Tian stood. She didn’t so much as glance at the overly enthusiastic Luo Liang.
Two sets of eyes locked firmly onto each other, one pair belonging to Ye Tian and the other to Liu Liyue. As if declaring her dominance over the premises, Liu Liyue’s unyielding gaze was backed by the fawning Luo Liang beside her, further solidifying her status there. Looking at Ye Tian’s expressionless face, Liu Liyue revealed a smile.
If Ye Tian couldn’t take back the dog fighting arena, he would have no face to stay in front of Zheng Xinru. Currently just a young upstart who popped up halfway, with unformed wings and incomplete connections, having support was both a blessing and pressure. No one wants to keep sinking money into a worthless stock; that’s not investing, that’s being a fool.
If Ye Tian were a stock, he would be the one manipulating it. Those who invested in him had many considerations, but Ye Tian’s potential for appreciation was the primary factor. Zheng Xinru chose to trust out of no other options, but there’s no guarantee another figure like Ye Tian won’t emerge in the future. Moreover, the way the two cooperate isn’t all that above board. When it comes down to it, it was Ye Tian who forced Zheng Xinru’s hand, and this isn’t a relationship that can be easily mended. Zuo Zhengyang’s investment in him was based purely on seeing him as a stock with potential, a commitment heavily influenced by Shen Xuepei. To this day, Ye Tian still couldn’t figure out what exactly Shen Xuepei saw in him to invest so heavily. He could tell Shen Xuepei looked at him with genuine care and concern, rather than calculated self-interest. Whether that’s good or bad, fortune or misfortune, he couldn’t say.
In any case, he couldn’t just fail to take a dog fighting arena.
Qin Gui stood before Liu Liyue with his Desert Eagle in hand, a round in the chamber, safety off. Opposite him, Li Jing had a Green Feather Soft Sword in his hand as well, its flexible blade swaying lazily in the air, as if ready to snap at any moment, light as a willow branch.
"I haven’t thanked you for the opportunity last time. How about I treat you to a meal?"
It’s better to fight outside than here. After all, this would be his place in the future, and any damage to business would be his own loss.
"Sure, I just don’t know what you plan to treat me to. I won’t go for anything too cheap."
