The Art of Chaotic Divinity -
Chapter 899: Make You Tremble
Chapter 899: Make You Tremble
Watching Jiang Xiaofan's figure gradually fade into the distance, the Sword Maniac finally let out a deep breath and muttered to himself, "What a foolish kid."
"Yeah, he's a foolish kid, and you're a foolish master."
Pill Devil walked up beside the Sword Maniac and chuckled. "That Divine Smithing Hammer is a treasure passed down through your lineage, yet you just gave it away without a second thought. Tell me, aren't you the bigger fool?"
"My belongings, my choice. I'll give them to whoever I please." Sword Maniac shot Pill Devil a glare. "Got a problem? Want to fight?"
"Fighting is beneath me. I'm a refined and courteous alchemist, not some brutish blacksmith like you."
Pill Devil snorted but then added, "Still, that foolish kid really is something. After all the tricks we played on him, he's still grateful to us. A disciple like that is rarer than finding a lantern in broad daylight."
"Good or not, he's my disciple!" The Sword Maniac's face brimmed with smug satisfaction.
"Oh ho ho, didn't you hear the kid earlier? I'm his Master now!"
"Shameless old coot. As far as I recall, all you taught him was how to sweep out furnace ashes."
"Bah! I've got plenty of secret techniques still up my sleeve. Unlike you, whose only skill is hammering away at metal."
"Bah yourself. All you know how to do is refine a few lousy pills."
"And all you can do is pound out some scrap iron."
With just a few words, the two disrespectful old men were at each other's throats again.
But this was practically their daily routine. If they didn't brawl at least once a day, they'd feel restless all over!
...
North of Tianbai Imperial City.
Staring at the towering, majestic city gates ahead, Ling Feng let out a sigh of relief. He was back at last!
Back then, after receiving the secret arts Terrifying Gaze and Soul Splitting Art from the Tianbai Emperor's spiritual manifestation, Ling Feng had secluded himself in the Misty Ghost Forest for over ten days before finally emerging.
Once out of seclusion, he had rushed straight through the Heavenly Vein Forest to return to the imperial capital.
Thankfully, despite the hurry, he hadn't missed the final competition.
"Let's head back to Tianwei Academy first and regroup with the others."
Ling Feng pursed his lips. By his calculations, Li Bufan and Mu Qianxue should have already returned to the capital. As for Jiang Xiaofan, he wondered what the kid had learned under the tutelage of those two eccentric old men, the Pill Devil and the Sword Maniac.
Honestly, Ling Feng was somewhat looking forward to seeing how much Jiang Xiaofan had grown.
And as for their captain and the others, who knew what changes they had undergone in the past month?
Tuoba Yan, walking beside Ling Feng, gave a slight nod.
As they made their way through the streets, it seemed like everyone was talking about the ultimate showdown three days from now.
At that point, there probably wasn't a soul in the imperial capital who hadn't heard that Tianwei Academy's East Court Sword Team was challenging the Royal Sword Team.
"Hah. Did you hear? The odds for the Royal Sword Team versus the East Court Sword Team have gone wild. The East Court's odds are now one to three thousand."
"Wow, that's insane. One to three thousand? If they actually pull off an upset, would the casinos even be able to cover it?"
"Hah. The Royal Sword Team losing? That'd be the biggest joke in the Tianbai Empire's centuries long history."
"True enough. How could the Royal Sword Team possibly lose? Just one of them, the Empire's Legend Yan Jinghong, could sweep through the entire opposing team single handedly."
"Exactly. You think Empire's Legend is just an empty title? Legends are legends. Even if the East Court Sword Team is a dark horse, this is where their run ends. Against absolute strength, there's not a shred of hope."
One particularly enthusiastic martial artist even thumped his chest and declared, "Three days from now, right here on this street. If the Royal Sword Team loses, I'll eat a bucket of shit. A whole bucket!"
"Damn, that's one hell of a bet!"
"Hahaha, now this is entertainment!"
The surrounding crowd burst into laughter, though no one actually believed he'd ever have to follow through.
After all, when comparing the Royal Sword Team to some no name East Court Sword Team from Tianwei Academy...
They weren't even in the same league.
"What a bunch of idiots." Ling Feng shrugged and shook his head. "Yan'er, let's go."
"Mm." Tuoba Yan bit her lip and shot a glare at the man who had just vowed to eat excrement.
Coincidentally, the man choked on his own spit mid laugh, tripped over his own feet, and face planted directly into a fresh pile of dung on the street.
A foul stench assaulted his nostrils, and he nearly vomited up his last meal. Enraged, he howled, "Damn it. Whose damn animal took a shit in the middle of the street? I curse your whole family to die horribly."
"That would be my Black Zhui[1] Horse. Got a problem with that?"
A young nobleman riding a black horse happened to pass by just then. Hearing the man's curses, he turned his horse around and had his lackeys beat the crap out of him.
From a distance, Tuoba Yan couldn't help but giggle, a smug little smile playing on her lips.
"You... Since when did you start stooping to such petty tricks?"
Ling Feng shook his head with a wry smile. Of course, he knew exactly what had happened. Tuoba Yan had used her Calamity Great Dao to curse the man, which was why he ended up like that.
"Blame his filthy mouth." Tuoba Yan bit her lower lip and huffed softly.
Ling Feng glanced at her. This woman, who usually carried herself with such aloofness, was now acting a little spoiled. And, strangely enough, it was kind of cute.
"Heh." Ling Feng's eyes crinkled with amusement. "I was just going to say well done. But next time, try not to use the Calamity Great Dao over something so trivial. The power of the Great Dao shouldn't be abused, or it might backlash on you."
"Oh..."
Tuoba Yan's lips twitched. Though she'd been lightly scolded, warmth blossomed in her chest. Ling Feng was only saying this because he cared.
"Ling Feng!"
At that moment, a familiar figure appeared at the end of the street, standing right in the middle of the main road. His icy eyes locked onto Ling Feng, a faint trace of killing intent flickering within them.
"So it's you. Liu Fanyu!"
Meeting the man's gaze, Ling Feng curled his lips into a cold smile. Clearly, this wasn't a chance encounter. Liu Fanyu had come prepared.
This man, Liu Fanyu, was a member of the Royal Sword Team. He had once helped Yan Shuying provoke Ling Feng, only to be driven off by Ling Feng and Tuoba Yan working together. Now, he was back for another round.
"You've finally returned."
Liu Fanyu stood with his hands behind his back, slowly drawing the sword at his waist. His voice was full of resentment. "Last time, you played dirty and made me lose to her in front of everyone. This time, I'm challenging you. Do you have the guts to accept?"
"A duel?"
Ling Feng threw his head back and laughed. "More like your Fourth Prince heard I went to Qingtian Fortress and gained some new opportunities, so he sent a lackey like you to test the waters, right?"
"You..." Liu Fanyu's face stiffened momentarily before he gritted his teeth. "I don't know what you're talking about. But if you don't dare fight me, then crawl between my legs like a dog, and maybe I'll let you walk away."
"Hmph."
Ling Feng's laughter cut off abruptly as he took a step forward, tilting his head up with a cold roar.
"Fine. Then tell your Royal Sword Team to watch closely. Let me show you exactly how much strength I, Ling Feng, possess."
"Enough to make all of you tremble!"
