The Alpha's long lost heir
Chapter 98: A turn of events

Chapter 98: A turn of events

In his rage, he rushed to a nearby table and took something that looked like a sedative, he rushed back to her bed fuming in pure rage.

Nyx was weak but she saw this coming, she bit her lips and dodged it making him run into the headboard yelling in pain.

She tried as much as she could and scrambled away from him to the other side of the bed, a sharp pain in her chest.

"Oh goodness," she whimpered.

She managed to get to the other side of the bed and rested a little before getting down ignoring that pain that almost caused her to cripple.

She pushed herself forward the most she could go, and stayed there on the floor, shaking her head in self pity.

"Oh goodness," she breathed heavily.

Andrew still yelled in pain, trying to find his direction so he could nurse himself for a while.

"That little rogue!" He cursed, sitting on the bed and tending to himself.

Nyx took advantage of his distraction and decided to be get away from him, she crawled to the end of the room steadily, as she could not walk fast.

Her wound had not been tended to yet and was still clotting. She hissed silently and crawled out of the room.

She knew she had to think of something else to get away from here faster.

"Oh dear," she winced in pain.

She continued her crawl down to the end of the hall, still hoping Andrew would stay glued to himself, since he had always loved himself so much.

Her eyes darted around in search of any opening so she could quickly escape but there was none.

"Huh? It is completely closed here?" She looked at the ceiling even though she knew she would not be able to get there.

She shook her head, "I have to get out of here, I just have to," she told herself and continued her slow, determined, crawling towards the end of the hall.

"And where do you think you are headed to? You think I would let you go scot free?"

Andrew sounded from behind, "Tsk, do not be so silly," he laughed.

She thought of something, he had somehow managed to nurse those wounds, how would it feel, if she created another one?

She looked at his legs, and smirked, "Well, I do not need you to let me, I just have to go away myself," she scratched at his legs but this time he was not having any of it.

"You think I am going to fall flat on my knees again, well if so, then you are so wrong," it was his turn to smirk so evily.

"Ugh! Leave me alone!"

"No way, if I did, you would go back to the palace and expose my dear daughter. She deserves to be happy, you shall stay here unattended to."

He dragged her up and back to the dark room, throwing her on the bed not caring if she felt so no much pain.

She whimpered when she had landed on the bed, wriggling in pain.

"What did I ever do?" She sighed sadly.

He laughed, "You are to remain there! Till you die, you ungrateful idiot!"

She didn’t take his words to heart, all she just wanted was some peace and quiet alone from everyone.

This is what she got for returning back to Oberon.

"What was I even thinking when I stayed back, that my life would become a bed of roses again? I was better off with Dora and Archi by my side.." she sniffed, "Now I have no one," she palmed her face but the pain in her chest reminded her to be nicer.

She was getting weaker each time, the hole had been left unattended to and she was slowly losing it.

"Oh gosh, what am I going to do?"

She bit her lips and shook her head, "I just.." she darted her eyes around.

Andrew has left and locked the door so there was no way out, just tiny window at the top right who would not even be able to fit Archi, brought in some air.

She wished she could write a note and then give it to a bird who would take it back home, it would have been a lot better.

She stared hopelessly at the window, praying for some sort or miracle at least, her eyes flickered, she was getting weaker by the second.

"Am I dying?" She asked no one in particular.

"Maybe I am then," she said weakly, "And I get to leave even without seeing my son," her voice was now choked and tears began to roll down her cheeks.

"Archi, I do not know how this happened but I hope you can stay safe wherever you are. Dora will take care of you, I trust her with that," she sniffed, "I do not think the moon goddess wants me to live any longer," she said in self pity.

"She did not even give me the chance of seeing Dora and my son before I die," her body shook with cries.

Her flickering eyes looked again at the window, this time around, there was a bed sitting there.

She didn’t have the ability to talk to birds but still had some hope.

The bird, as if drawn by some telekinesis flew to her bedside, looking her up and down.

"Could you help me?" She whispered.

The bird chirped in response.

She continued with whatever she said, "I need you to go back to the palace and inform my son and Dora, that I am about to die but should not bother finding me because I myself do not know where I am."

"Tell my son," she croaked, "that I love him a lot," another tear rolled her right cheek.

"I want him to be safe and take very good care of himself, he will one day be king," she said, a hint of motherly pride in her voice.

"Thank Dora for all she has been doing, she deserves some thanks too, tell her that I really appreciate all she does for me and I would want her to keep it up."

"I love them both, and I hope they never forget me," she sniffed and looked away.

The bird chirped something and flew away.

Nyx gulped,"I guess it all ends then, I have no other strength in me," she shook her head, "they can finally be happy now, I am about to die," she smiled, "and I will not die sad."

She closed her eyes, with a smile on her face, "Let my tears be my heartfelt prayer, and a sincere curse," she whispered.

With that being said, her flickering eyes finally gave way and she closes her eyes.

---

Andrew sensing some non resistance from Nyx’s room, went back to the room to check on her.

Getting to her bedside, he noticed she wasn’t moving at all.

His eyes widened, "Could it be that she had died?" He asked, his senses going wild with excitement.

He came closer and felt her hand, it was stiff but not yet cold.

"She is dead!" He threw his arms in the air jubilating.

"Nyx at last is dead, oh thank the moon goddess, she is finally dead!"

________

Archi and Dora sat in the garden away from everyone, they were still surprised at how that ’strange she-were wolf’ could have just fooled everybody.

He had even distanced himself from Oberon feeling so disappointed in him.

They sat outside, not speaking to each other, lost in their thoughts.

A bird dropped by the side of Dora, a black rose in its beak.

Dora looked surprised, "Black rose? What is this for?"

She took it from the bird’s beak, "Someone is dying? Who?"

She exchanged glances with Archi, wondering who it might be.

"I do not think it just gave us that rose unless it knew who we are related to," he squinted his eyes.

They thought about it for a while and their eyes widened in realisation, "It can not be!" Dora jerked off from her chair in horror.

Archi looked up at her with confusion in his eyes, "What is the matter?"

She looked at the black rose in her hands, tears clouding her vision, "No!" She whimpered.

Archi held her arm, "You are scaring me, what exactly are you crying about?" He asked.

Dora looked at him and looked away, wondering how she would break the news to him.

"Please tell me, I want to know, I am already curious," he held onto her.

She shook her head, and sniffed, "This is very.. I do not know how to tell you," she covered her mouth and looked away, more tears streaming down her cheeks.

"You are already making me sad, and I do not know what is going on. What are you hiding from me?"

"Your mother.." she croaked.

It took him a few minutes to sink that in, he gasped loudly as tears stung his eyes, "Mother?"

"Yes," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

He blinked in surprise, as tears rolled walked down his cheeks.

He began to cry, "My mother, what happened to her?"

She sat on the chair, not knowing what else to say.

"Who killed her? Why is she dead? How? Where is she? Where is my mother?!" He shook Dora’s arm violently.

She could not respond, she just cried out her eyes.

The bird who could not join them in their emotional turmoil flew away, with a loud cackle.

Archi was crying out loud, not caring whatever happened.

"Aunt Dora, she can not be dead, she told me, she would not die so soon, she promised not to leave me."

Dora held him, "Come here," she embraced him.

He continued his loud cries, "Where is she? Why can I not find her?" He cried in her arms.

"I am clueless myself, where would she be? What if she is still alive?"

"We should find her, we have to find her."

"We will, we just have to know when and how to start," she sniffed.

"Unfortunately that is not happening," they heard a voice behind.

They turned to see it was Risa, Archi scowled at her.

"What do you mean?"

"I have observed you in the past few days, and I have noticed how smart you are. If I let you do this, you might find her."

"You have nothing to do with me, go away," she said fiercely.

"Oh, I will not be booed away so easily, let us make a deal," she smirked.

"What deal?"

"I know, you know, that I am not Nyx, and it is a good thing you have not tried to say anything. I must applaud you," she laughed softly.

"Go away from here!" Archi yelled at her but Dora calmed him down.

"This is between the adults Archi, be calm and do not say anything," she told him.

She faced Risa, "Once I can get proof, I will surely tell everyone that you are not Nyx."

"I will not give you a chance for that, unfortunately," she smirked.

"Excuse you?"

"Guards!"

They came rushing towards her and halted by her side.

"Now, the deal is, you shut your mouth and do not say anything to anyone and you will be fine, but if you do otherwise, then you both have to suffer."

"Leave him out of this! It is between me and you!" Dora pointed at her.

Risa scoffed, "Oh please, spare me all that nonsense, he already knows everything, why spare him?"

"He is a child!"

"Who knows more than he should he know," she replied cooly.

"Why are you being so heartless? What did Nyx ever do to you?"

"That is not for you to know, deal or no deal?"

Dora thought about it for a while, she could choose to keep quiet and win her favor but on the other hand, Nyx needed justice.

"No way, it is not a deal," she said adamantly.

Risa’s eyes darkened, "This is your last chance.. think it over, deal or no deal?" She said more coldly.

"You heard me, I said, it is not a deal," she sneered.

"Hmph, take them," she commanded the guards.

They seized them.

"Let him go you cold blooded rogues!" Dora screamed at them.

"Take them to the basement and lock them in, it is either they give in to my demand or they die there," she said, fury in her eyes.

"I will never make a deal with you! Never!" Dora yelled.

Archi tried to struggle but the men were too strong for him, "I just want my mother back," he cried, "Give her back to me," was all he could say.

"Your mother is not coming back to you puppy, she is gone and is never coming back," she grinned.

Risa watched with satisfaction as they rough handled them both and took them to the basement.

When they had been taken away, right that moment, Oberon walked in. He looked sideways, before walking to Risa.

"Nyx? How come you are out of bed? Are you strong enough?"

She smiled sweetly at him and embraced him, "I am definitely fine love," she cooed.

He arched his brows, "Okay, let us go inside then," he smiled and took her hand, leading her in.

***

Archi sat cuddled up against Dora shivering. The basement was looking horrible and dark thanks to their super vision, they could see in the dark.

There was no window to give them light and some air, the walls felt as if they would collapse any moment, a lot of creepy insects ran past them every now and then. The door to the basement was locked from the outside so they was no way they could escape.

Archi made some sniffing sounds, "Mother," he called sadly.

Dora felt so weak and ashamed she could do nothing, "I will get us out of here Archi, do not be scared."

"She is so mean, I do not like her at all," he moaned.

"I hate her too, but first I have to figure out a way to get us out of here."

She scanned everywhere with her eyes, "The doors look impossible to break through," she muttered so she faced the walls.

They were cracked and almost fell apart.

"We have to go through the walls then, we have no choice."

Archi looked up at her in surprise, "What?"

"I am sorry Archi, but today, your wolf has to wake up."
