Chapter 71: Light of the pack

"Her name is Nyx."

Oberon’s heart literally stopped beating for a minute, he blinked his eyes, trying to recover from that shock.

"Nyx?"

He nodded, "Yes, her name is Nyx."

Oberon squinted his eyes, "Wait.. Nyx.. and you are her son.. and.." his heart raced faster.

"If she was pregnant, and you are her son.. that means.. I am your father?"

He choked on his rice, coughing hard. Oberon quickly got him a cup of water to drink.

"Take it easy," he patted his back.

He slowly drank the water, and then sighed, after a long pause, he spoke up.

"You are my father?"

Oberon was also surprised but he was certain, "Nyx is your mother, right?"

He nodded, "Yes."

"Could you give a description?"

He described Nyx, exactly the description that fitted Oberon’s imagination.

"It is really her," he gasped.

For the first time in a while, his eyes teared up; for joy.

"You really are my son," he said, still trying to grasp that fact.

"What is your name?"

"My name is Archi," he replied.

"Archi.. my light," he whispered, with so much joy in his heart, he hugged the boy so tight.

"You have been alive all these while!"

Archi was confused, "You are my father? Then why do you not live with me? Why have you been away?"

Oberon was speechless, he knew that was his fault, "I am so sorry my child, I wronged your mother, and I know she must be really angry with me."

"Why do you live here? My mother, aunty and I live in a small house, this place is way bigger than the place we live in," he pouted.

Oberon smiled, his eyes still filled with joyful tears, "I promise to make everything right my son, soon you will live with your father in this very big house."

Archi disengaged from the hug, and looked at him in the eyes. This struck Oberon’s heart, how stupid of him not to notice, he had Nyx’s eyes!

"I did a really bad thing," he shook his head.

"Father’s are supposed to live with their children and wives right? Why are you different from them all?"

He felt bad that his son was asking him such a question, "I really do not know how best to answer you. The thing is, I have an answer but I am too ashamed to look you in the eyes and give you an answer."

"Why? Just tell me, I really want to know. I tried asking my mother but she never told me."

Oberon sighed, he had hurt Nyx, he knew quiet well that she had been a good woman while she was still with him.

"I believe she would never had said it, I really hurt her, it would only hurt her more if she tried remembering it."

Archi rubbed his neck, "You are making me confused," he whined.

"I know, with time you will understand," he held his head and kissed his forehead, "I had always wanted you my son, today you decided to come to me," he said, his voice filled with a lot of emotions.

"Why did you leave me father?" Archi asked, this time, his voice was soft.

"I am so sorry, If I had known all these would have happened, I would never had let your mother go. Now, I know, I have been very wrong, and it right I am being punished this way."

Archi blinked his eyes, his eyes watering, "You must have really hurt her. Mother does not like talking about you."

"I would not blame her, I was really mean to her and she never deserved all of those," he bent his head and wiped his eyes.

"But why?"

Oberon wiped his face, "I was really ignorant then, now, I know better, and I am going to make everything alright. Trust me."

Archi bit his lips, "How can I trust you?"

"I will not blame you, it will take a long time.. and I am ready to wait, even if it take a hundred years."

Archi wiped his face, "You should talk to mother, she might listen to you and forgive you."

"That is what I intend on doing, now that I have met you, finding her would be very easy."

He carried Archi in his arms, "I promise, you will have your father and mother again," he kissed his forehead again and headed to the kitchen door but unfortunately for him he ran into his mother.

"Oberon?" Her eyes moved from his to Archi’s, "Who is this boy? Whose child is he?"

Oberon grinned, he looked at Archi, "Son, this is your grandmother."

Elena gasped, she looked at Archi mire closely, those eyes.. reminded her of someone, Nyx!

She slowly turned to Oberon, her mouth was open but she couldn’t say anything.

"Yes, he is... my son," he said softly.

Archi gave Elena a strange look, "Grandmother?"

"She is the mother of your father."

Archi creased his brows, "Your mother? My grandmother?"

"Yes, your grandmother. I know this is strange to you but slowly everything will fall into place and you will get used to it."

Elena was shocked, she spread her arms. Oberon slowly put Archi on the ground, "Come on, go to her son."

He hesitated for a while, confusion and fear evident in his eyes.

Elena eyes watered, "Come here my dear," she smiled.

He took slow steps towards her, Elena bent down to his height.

"What is your name my dear?"

"My name is Archi," he gulped.

She looked at Oberon, "Where did you find him?"

"He was in the woods, I am yet to ask what happened, I am probably too joyed to do that now."

"This is Nyx’s child," she covered her mouth, tears running down her cheeks.

"Yes," Oberon said sadly.

Elena remembered the day, Nyx had came to her telling her she was pregnant. Nyx was the one who produced his heir, it was never destined to be Selena.

"You need to find Nyx and bring her back."

"Yes, that is what I want to do and I am going to look for her, right now."

Elena hugged Archi, "Bless you my child, you now is the light of our pack. Hopefully we will bring Nyx back here."

"I hope she does not refuse me."
