Chapter 125: Nyx and Archi meet again

Their houses was a few meters away. They held her arm on both sides and helped her walk to the house. Since she was still recovering, she was having difficulty in walking fast, so they had to keep to her pace.

"How is my child?" She asked, her voice full of emotion.

"He is okay. He missed you though, and I am very sure he would be happy to see you."

Her eyes teared up, "I missed him," she said softly.

She had been yearning to see ever since the moment she had opened her eyes again. Every second without him felt like a stab in her chest.

They arrived at the house. It was quiet, since Archi had decided not to play around that day.

Neriah quickly went to open the door, and Dora led her inside. Elena was sitting in the living room, trying to knit something with some wool she had found.

Nyx’s heart skipped a beat, what was she doing here?

Elena looked up when she noticed their presence. The wool in her hands dropped as she noticed Nyx with Dora and Neriah.

She stood up slowly, her hands trembling, with.. excitement?

"Nyx?"

She didn’t reply, she was still trying to put pieces together.

"I.. want to sit down," she told Dora.

Dora led her to a chair, "sit down. Be careful."

"Wh- what are you doing here?" She asked Elena, her head spinning a little.

Elena exchanged glances with Dora, and then looked back at her.

"Well.. it is a long story, I think you should rest before any kind of explanation."

Nyx frowned, "no, I want to know why. You are the Alpha’s mother, you should be in the palace right?"

Dora bit her lips, Nyx wasn’t aware of the fact that Oberon was also living with them now.

Elena dropped her gaze, trying to find the words to use.

"I think you should rest please, I would not want to burden you with a lot."

Nyx was getting annoyed but tried not to show it, "you should.. how did you even know about this place?"

Neriah scratched his neck nervously, "I..was the one who brought her here."

"Huh? Why?"

Dora came to sit beside her, "Nyx.. as mother had said.. it is a very long story, you should rest and get better. Worrying about this will not help for now."

"Hmm," she held her head, which was suddenly throbbing from just a few seconds of annoyance.

"What would your son say if he found out you were here? He would create a lot of drama, i do not want that."

"You should not worry. There would be no drama."

Nyx was perturbed, all she wanted was to enjoy a peaceful welcome, only to be bothered by Elena’s presence.

’If just her presence can disturb her in this way, how would she react if she saw Oberon?’ Dora worried.

She sighed, "hmm, this is going to be one rough evening," she muttered to herself.

Nyx closed her eyes and rested back on her chair, "I just want to see my son," she said softly.

Dora nodded, "I will go get him," she rushed into the room.

Elena slowly sat down, still observing Nyx. She had made a very intimidating entry, and now she was scared of saying something.

"Uh.. Nyx.. how are you?"

"I am fine."

"You are okay.." her eyes teared up.

"I am," she replied drily.

"Oh, that is a good thing. I.. we.. thought you were dead," her voice was choked.

Nyx looked her way, "fortunately.. I did not die," she straightened her face.

Neriah watched them. There was tension in the air, as Elena was unable to express her feelings.

Archi burst into the living room. His eyes quickly darting around to look for his mother.

His eyes landed where she sat.

"Mother!" He ran at once to her and embraced her.

"Mother," his voice sounded more choked, "you are okay!"

Nyx hugged him tight, "Archi," a tear slid down her eye, "my child," she whispered.

"He told us you were dead! We thought you had died! But.. you are actually alive!" He began to cry.

Nyx held him tight, "I am here now. I was.. I just.. I was away for a while, now I am back and nothing will separate us."

He nodded, still crying in her arms. Elena looked away and wiped a tear from her eye while Neriah just watched, his face blank.

"Promise you will not leave," he said.

"I will not, I promise," she nodded.

She rocked him for a long while not wanting to let him go.

Neriah walked up to Elena, "I think we should leave them to be by themselves. They need some alone time right now," he whispered.

She nodded and stood up, following him into the room.

She made him sit on her laps.

"Are you still hurt?"

She shook her head, "I am feeling better. The wound is healing."

"He is dead."

"Who?"

"Your father."

Nyx drew her head backwards, "dead? How ?"

"Neriah killed him. I do not know how, but he did."

She blinked her eyes, not knowing what if she was feeling right now was sadness or excitement.

"Does Risa know about this?"

"Risa?"

She shook her head realizing he wasn’t familiar with Risa.

She wiped the tears from his eyes, "Well, that served him right."

"You are not sad?"

"Why would I be? He was the one who almost killed me. I wonder how he ever became my father," she shook her head in regret.

He held her hand, "that does not matter now. What matters is that you are now with us and we are together," he grinned at her.

She chuckled, "of course, and I am never leaving you, never again."

They embraced, Archi relishing the warmth of his mother’s bosom once again.

"Mother, have you met father? He is here with us."

She paused, "here with us?"

He nodded, "he stepped out a while ago. I still do not know what he went to do."

Her heart began to throb, "what.. why are they here? Why would he and his mother come here?"

He kept quiet, not know which way to answer her.

’Did they come here to mock me? Or persuade me perhaps to go back? No way, I almost got killed in that palace, there is no way I am going back!’

"Archi..." She called softly.

"Yes mother?"

"Can you tell me why they are here?"

"That is because he was driven from the palace. His uncle is the one who is in control now. All the members of the pack has dispersed because his uncle is a bad ruler."

Her eyes widened, "what? All these happened while I was gone?"

He nodded, "someone pretended to be you and father mistook her to be you."

She frowned, even Oberon could not tell her apart from someone else?

"Does he not know how I look like?"

"She had put on some kind of mask, she looked exactly like you."

She squinted her eyes, "wait.. did Risa do that?" She bit her lips.

He shrugged, "I do not know."

She was so upset, "oh goodness, how did it get to this?"

"The impostor helped father’s uncle who is now a rogue to enter the palace, he had a pack of Lycans and father could do nothing."

Nyx’s heart softened when she heard this, "a pack of Lycans.. Oberon is an Alpha," she said to herself.

"Hmm?"

"No, that was not for you."

"He has been strategizing everyday since that day, he wants to get his pack back," Archi explained.

Then it dawned on Nyx why they had come here, "they had nowhere else to go," she shook her head in pity.

He nodded, "yes."

"Poor Oberon. He has been a king all his life, how would he survive outside the palace?"

"Aunt Dora has been helping him," he chipped in.

"Oh.." she paused.

She didn’t know why, but all of a sudden, she was feeling bad for him.

"What would the members of the pack think of him? A failed ruler?"

Archi sighed and hugged his mother again, "he did his best, right?"

"He did.. he did.." she replied.

"Risa must have been the one behind this.. if there is any other person who would want to impersonate me, it would be Risa."

"Why?"

"She is my sister after all," she sighed in disappointment.

"Your sister? Why then is she not like you?"

"It is pretty hard to explain but.. I will.." she clutched her abdomen, "ow!"

"What is the matter?"

"I think you have been sitting on me for too long. You should get down, my wound is beginning to hurt me," she explained.

He got down quickly, "oh no. What should I do?"

She laughed, "I am fine now. It would heal, with time."

At that moment, the door opened, revealing Oberon.
