Chapter 111: Against all odds

They had arrived at the palace. Oberon had been cold throughout the ride back to the palace, silently working out his plan in mind.

As soon as they got to the palace, he quickly got down and hurried into the palace.

"He sure is in a rush," no one shook his head chuckling.

"Hmm, he should be," Dora rolled her eyes and got down, holding Archi.

"Is there any way he can bring mother back?" Archi asked innocently.

Dora exchanged glances with no one, that was such a hard question and she thought of ways to answer.

"Well.." she tried to explain but he chipped in.

"We can not say anything for now, let us see how it goes," he assured him.

His gleamed with hope and he nodded, "I hope she comes back, I want het to come back," he sniffed and wiped his eyes trying to prevent tears from rolling down his cheeks.

Dora sighed, "I wish there was some kind of way she would come back to us," she muttered.

Together, they all went inside expecting some kind of scene in the palace but it was dead silent.

"Hm, why was he in a rush then?" He arched his brows.

Dora held her head, "I sometimes wonder what is up with him. He behaves so strangely every single time."

He shook his head, "there must be something he wants to do, just wait and watch," he smirked.

"Whatever," she muttered grudgingly.

Oberon walked into his chambers, Risa was on the bed, enjoying herself as usual.

He walked up to her and made her sit up.

She was startled.

"Oberon? What is the matter?"

He squinted his eyes, "Where is Archi?"

She darted her eyes around, her heart pounding fast.

"What do you mean?"

"What I mean? Is it not obvious that I am asking a question?"

She gulped down nervously, "He.. well.."

"Is he still with Dora? You still do not know where they are?"

She closed her eyes, trying to calm herself down thinking of a possible lie to come up with.

"Are you short of words? Nothing else to say?"

"It is not like that," she bit her lips, her head spinning.

’What is up with him today? Why is he asking me these questions?’

"Answer me!"

She flinched,"He is with Dora but I think they.. decided to.. uh.."

"Is there any reason why you should stutter? How come you are not worried? Unless.. you are not Nyx," his eyes darkened.

She gasped loudly, "Wh- why are you saying that?"

"You should be worried, but you are not showing any sign of worry or making any attempt to find him.. why? Is that what a mother does?"

She avoided his eyes, she was still thinking of the possible lie to come up with.

"Stand up," was the next thing she heard.

"Huh?"

"I said, stand up," he was very cold, she could feel his piercing icy stare.

Nervously, she got down from the bed, he gripped her hand and they left the room.

"Ow! That hurts! Why are you doing this? She cried.

"You are in for a shock," he simply said.

"What? Stop! You are hurting me!" She feigned to be so hurt, hoping it would melt his heart.

"Oberon, you can not do this to me."

He turned to look at her with annoyance.

She pouted and gave him puppy eyes,"It hurts."

"Oh, that is not working on me!" He continued to walk to the living room.

"Slow down! You are too fast!" She was disappointed her tactics were not working on him this time.

When they got to the living room, he let go of her hand and she fell because she was not expecting him to stop so abruptly.

"What is this?" She shrieked at him.

"Watch your tone," he shot daggers at her with his eyes.

Her eyes caught sight of Dora and Archi and she gasped.

’Huh? They are alive?’ she frowned, ’how is this possible?’

"Shocked?" She saw Dora smirk.

She shook her head, not believing her eyes, "Archi, you are okay!" She feigned happiness and rushed over to hug him.

"Do not touch him," Dora quickly gripped her hand and roughly shoved her aside.

Risa was too surprised to speak, what exactly was going on?

"Dora.. you finally returned," she laughed nervously.

Dora eyed her angrily, "What do you think you are? Oh please stop all your acting, no body needs here," she clenched her fists.

Oberon tried all he could to surpress that raging wolf inside him.

"Where is Nyx?"

"I am Nyx," she blinked her eyes.

"I mean the real Nyx, you are not Nyx, you can not be Nyx," he shook his head.

"What are you saying? Can you not recognize me anymore?" She sighed.

Archi was already pissed off, "You murderer! You killed my mother!" His eyes teared up again.

Risa clenched her fists, "Stop this, how can I kill myself?"

Dora gritted her teeth, "Stop lying! We all know you are not Nyx!"

Her chest was building up with pressure, she was not sure how much she could keep up with this.

She palmed her face and began to cry, "What has gotten into you all? I am Nyx, what is wrong with you all?"

No one drew his head backwards, how could someone still keep on lying when everything pointed that she was lying?

"She sure is one good liar," he muttered shaking his head quite amused.

Oberon was pissed, he walked to where she was standing and gripped her face, "Tell me who you are, who are you?"

Her heart was racing, what was she supposed to do now?

"I.." she could not talk properly, his face was close to hers and she had lost some of it.

"I.. am.. Nyx," she gulped down.

He closed his eyes, still trying to control himself.

"Stop this, and tell me the truth," he tried to be calm.

’i am Nyx, what else do you want to hear?"

"Tell me the truth!"

"Ugh! Fine! I am not Nyx!"
