The Alpha's Blind Fate
Chapter 56: The Madlea Plan

Chapter 56: The Madlea Plan

True to Daemon’s prediction, the so-called spy sent by Zina WolfKnight refused to talk. Meanwhile, Shadow, who had journeyed to the Desert South to ask for reinforcement, returned with just thirty men unlike what Daemon had expected.

Daemon had asked his uncle for at least two hundred werewolves from his pack, so seeing only thirty slightly alarmed him even though he knew that he no longer had any use for them since he had changed the strategy he would be using to finish the war.

"Has anything happened in the DireWolf Pack?" Daemon asked Shadow who in his usual manner, had a hood drawn over his face, and whose long billowing cloak trailed after him. They entered Daemon’s tent which was at the center of the camp and easily towered over other tents.

"Your uncle is no longer as he used to be."

Daemon, who had intended to sit, stopped himself. In all the years he had known Shadow, the man had never been one to talk in cryptic words nor riddles. Which only meant something had indeed happened.

"What is wrong?" Daemon asked, still standing.

"The Alpha has a message for you. But before that he wants to know if you intend to keep the promise you made to him six years ago when you willingly accepted your banishment without a fight?"

Daemon raised an eyebrow at that. "I do intend on taking over the Arctic North as I promised him. My resolve remains unchanged. I told my uncle, did I not? That I will make sure his sister’s death doesn’t go unresolved."

Shadow nodded grimly as if he was reconfirming for the first time the one thing that had been the reason why he had stood steadfastly by his side.

"The Southern Wolf is on his deathbed." Shadow declared. The information, while slightly surprising, was not exactly shocking to Daemon. His uncle was riddled with the well known disease known as old age. But even at that, Daemon had expected that his uncle would at least be well until Daemon finished the war.

From Shadow’s grim expression, Daemon figured it was serious enough. "What message does he have for me?"

"As he had always wanted, he wants you to replace him when he passes."

Another silence settled between them at Shadow’s response. Seeing that Daemon was tongue tied and had no response to give him, Shadow pressed on.

"It is time we end this war already. You’ve been dragging it out to bid your time. Your wolf is already a natural born Lycan Shifter, it is enough to face the Arctic Wolf."

Daemon smiled shrewdly. "Is it enough to face the thing that stole your wolf?"

Shadow hardly reacted to the painful reminder. If Daemon masked his emotions with a bland face, Shadow was a man that never needed to mask his emotions. Because he didn’t have any in the first place.

"The Southern tribes have long coveted the position of the Alpha of the Direwolf pack. Your uncle’s son has been reported to have met with the Tiger Wolves."

Daemon scoffed. "What is my old dearest cousin doing, meeting with the Great Evil of the South? Does he even know the saying ’don’t play with fire lest it burns you’."

"Your cousin is not as sensible as you’re."

"You find me sensible? Isn’t that a revelation for sore ears."

Shadow, undeterred by the sarcasm in his voice pressed on. "What do you intend to do?"

"I’ve been waiting for you." Daemon answered quickly, walking towards the Stone Table. Shadow followed. "I intend to send you into the Arising Rogue camp. Can you deliver me Madlea Sofyr’s head?" Daemon asked.

Shadow stiffened. "You no longer wish for a crushing victory?"

"Not anymore. Something’s changed." Daemon said, turning the rotating table until the map of the North was facing them."

"You mean the Theta’s coming?"

"Indeed. The factions here at the GreenLands are ardent believers." Daemon spoke, rotating the table until the GreenLands map faced them. "The WolfKnight’s are stationed directly behind the rogue army. With the Theta, who is also a WolfKnight, coming to express Eldric’s goodwill. What do you think will happen to the Rogue Army if I take the life of their leader?"

Shadow’s eyes hidden beneath his cloak widened slightly from surprise. "They should ordinarily scatter. But killing Madlea is not enough, you’ve to kill his son Zoric. He will be able to hold the army no matter if his father dies."

Daemon smiled shrewdly, rotating the table until the North was facing them again. "I do not intend to take Zoric’s life, Madlea will be just enough."

Shadow wanted to ask how that would be possible when his eyes went to the Northern map before them and widened in surprise. "You intend to stir family trouble."

Daemon spinned the table again "The WolfKnight’s refused to join this war because Eldric commanded them so. But without the Theta, not only would their pack not have reached the level of prominence it is at now, but the GreenLands would not have survived the feminine."

"So you intend to use the Theta’s coming to involve the WolfKnight’s in the war?" Shadow mused, impressed. The WolfKnight’s, now a pack of over ten thousand under the leadership of Alpha Modrich had become a pain in their a**. Not only was Modrich unwilling to move his army to fight the rogues, but they were positioned at a place of dire importance in the war.

"If I must coerce the seer then I will. But the WolfKnight’s can never openly abandon the woman who is chanted the savior of Vraga. It would only earn them the further ire of the High Ranked pack’s that already see them as a sore in their eyes."

Shadow nodded as the plan sank in. But no matter how much he thought about it, there was a gaping hole to the plan.

"The mere presence of Zina WolfKnight will not be enough to coerce them into participating in the war or allowing us to use their territory," Shadow mused aloud, "even the High Ranked packs were unable to convince them since the backing of Eldric only emboldened them."

Daemon spinned the table again until the area where the rogues occupied the borders of the GreenLands was facing them. "Which is why I intend to make sure that Zoric Sofyr holds her hostage." Daemon proclaimed.

This time around, he walked towards the Wolf Chess table admiring the pieces still in action, Shadow followed suit as the plan that Daemon had in mind was surprisingly sound.

"If you’re ready, we will initiate the Madlea Plan." Daemon said to Shadow who was staring intently at the white Alpha Piece on the board that was taken out.

The Madlea Plan was a mission that they had planned for almost two years. The plan was simply a way to take out Madlea Sofyr alone in under two hours. Months of hard work, information gathering, and interrogations had produced that plan. But the only reason they hadn’t used it was because eliminating Madlea alone wasn’t an assurance that the war would be ended.

The Madlea Plan was formed on the basis of Madlea Sofyr sexual deviance that knew no bounds. The man much liked his sex without consent, as such, most female rogues were used as sex slaves for his lupine pleasure. It was then that Daemon formed the plan that there was no better way to be assassinated than under the finger of the woman whom you’re deriving obscene carnal pleasure from.

It was following the plan that a wicked thought had started to form in Daemon’s head ever since he heard Zina WolfKnight was coming. If he eliminated Madlea using the plan, Zoric’s rage was sure to know no bounds, and it was for that reason that the rogue army would not scatter.

Zoric would want revenge, and there was no better revenge than capturing the woman chanted by all as the Great Seer. Then, the WolfKnight’s would have no choice but to interfere.

"She will be here in three days," Daemon informed Shadow, "have the Red Sisters prepare."
