The Alpha's Blind Fate
Chapter 403: For The Sake Of Villainity

Chapter 403: For The Sake Of Villainity

ZINA

"The Luna Queen NorthSteed?" Zina repeated slowly, staring at the man who sat before her.

Ever since the threats from Rowan and his Master reached the Arctic North, especially after the event when Zina was almost assassinated, Daemon had seen the need to educate Zina on the hidden fragments she didn’t understand about the enemy they were facing.

Especially in relation to Daemon’s mother; the late Luna Queen also known in the DireWolf Pack as Vaness DireWolf.

Some said she was a woman bestowed with intelligence profound enough to move nations, others said she was a great ruler who made her husband look like a child in comparison.

But she never lasted for up to two years in the Castle of the Arctic North which she made her home. And Zina simply couldn’t forget that this man that now sat before her bore direct responsibility to her death.

She had almost forgotten, but Daemon also made mention of the fact that the former Alpha of the DireWolf Pack, Vallan DireWolf himself alleged to have personally murdered Master years ago.

But the man never died. And she and Daemon had concluded that perhaps it also had something to do with whatever resurrection powers she seemed to possess as well.

However her knowledge asides, she was truly curious to hear what the man himself had to say about the woman who saw him as a research partner for some goal which he developed his own twisted ideas for.

"Yes," Master drawled through his gapped teeth, "the Late Luna Queen."

"It’s long become popular knowledge that you had her murdered just in case you do not know," Zina said sarcastically.

"Before then, we were very good friends. Vaness wanted a world that adhered to the true way of the wolf. She hated sorcery and all that—she was of the believe it ruined our world."

Zina smirked, "Can’t exactly argue with that."

"But she was short sighted. With intelligence that rivalled mine, she was too blind to see the truth that there’s only one solution to the vermins that have run our world amock...."

"Let me guess," Zina interrupted rudely, "this solution is an Alpha for all."

"Well aren’t you very intelligent."

"Why? Thank you for the high praise." Zina quipped with a sugary smile which the man returned with a haunting one of his own.

It was really hard to tell whether he was just pretending not to see the fact that Zina was being sarcastsic, or perhaps he just didn’t care.

Either ways, Zina made your her mind to listen carefully to the rambling of the mad man.

"Forty years ago, Vaness started a research center that comprised of me, herself and three other people. They are all dead of course. I am the only one who’s managed to survive for long."

Zina was about to reply that ’it didn’t take much to see the reason why’. But she reined her tongue in. There’s was no hood in riling up a man that had refused to die for long. But she felt slighted—that this pitiable man before her was the front and center of childhood trauma.

She was aggrieved. Truly.

"Vaness was of the opinion that we should research on ways whereby the Supreme Wolf won’t be restricted to the drab numbers that it is today, I on the other had an unpopular opinion; instead of thinking of the ways to make the way of the Supreme Wolf available to more werewolves, I thought it was rather fitting that we resurrected the very creatures who were responsible for the scarcity of the Supreme Wolf as it is today."

"So while she preached availablity, you on the other hand preached monopoly. No, that sounds worse than monopoly. You preached extinction."

"Don’t you have a very vivid way of putting things?" He said with a grin.

"I guess that is just one of many of my strong suits." Zina responded brusquely meanwhile her insides boiled with rage.

She had been expecting some self righteous drive. Even if it sounded a bit ridiculous, at least she had been expecting to hear some deranged reason behind what he did. Something that was justifiable in his eyes but unacceptable in the eyes of society.

But Master was just the conventional villain that was usually spoken of in the stories read to children at the night just for the fun of scaring them out of their wits.

The villain who became a villain simply because why not? Not like there was any other choice.

"We are derailing from your question though," The Master drawled, "you asked me what is my cause?"

Zina already had her answer. His cause was quite simple; take over the world simply because he could dream of it... simply because he dared to think of it.

He was an ambitious, spineless man. Relying on the very thing that Daemon’s late mother tried to eliminate and using it as a trap to bring forth the very thing their world feared centuries ago.

Nonetheless she pretended to listen to whatever nonsense he had to say. After all that was her role there, right? To pretend she was interested in his cause.

"I wish to create a refined deformed. Deformed werewolves with intelligence far better than what we have unleashed tonight. And we will achieve it tighter by standing at the pinnacle of the world. I do not wish for destruction, but we must take down werewolves like Daemon NorthSteed and everyone who believes in the hierarchy of wolves."

It took everything in Zina for her to maintain a straight face as the foolish words rolled off his lips. She had always known it that these people were far too delusional to be taken seriously, but she hadn’t expected that their delusion would run so deep.

It was scary one one side, on the other side it was enough to induce destructive anger on anyone who was on the hearing side of their sordid plan.

"The Late Luna Queen’s death must be because you wanted to prove to her that you’ve finally discovered a werewolf capable enough of breaking heirachy?"

Master smiled at her question. "Your father is not our finest creation of course, but he delivered our message clearly to Vaness. It’s a pity that the child in her womb survived. It would have done all of us hood if he just died."

Zina stared blankly at the mad man. A man mad enough to actually think that it was remotely okay to spew such vicious words. Not to talk of how he dated refer to the deformed as her father... although she supposed that rang true enough.

"What did you have to prove? Why must you prove anything to her in the first place?" She asked because it honestly befuddled her. She couldn’t bring herself to believe that Daemon’s mother died because of the delusional believes of a half man.

Maybe her question was more emotional than it should have been in the first place, but he answered her nonetheless.

"Why not?" He said, replying with a question, "Vaness was a Lycan shifter when she was alive yet she died under one swipe from your father."

Master still persisted in referring to the Deformed that killed Daemon’s mother as her father. Was he trying to prove some point? Like to say that Zina also had a hand in an event that happened before she was even born.

But Zina was long over that. There was no way she would be trapped in a past where she blamed herself for the crimes of a parent that never was.

But her heart bled for Daemon. The son who never felt the warmt of a mother. The son who wasn’t pushed out like every other child, but had to crawl out of his mother’s severed wound.

Her heart bled for him. Which was why she couldn’t afford an error in her act. She must put an end to this.

Putting on a smile, she turned to Rowan who stood silently by their side. "How every domineering the deformed is," she complimented, "taking down a pregnant Lycan shifter like it’s nothing. I suppose that is a feat that ought to commended and sung of." She said, and as she expected, the sarcasm was lost on them.

Instead, they all smiled. Especially Master. "Tomorrow, we shall correct the mistake child that survived that bloody night. We will put Daemon NorthSteed down."

They would have to put her down first before they ever touched Daemon, but of course she didn’t say that.

Instead, turning eagerly to Rowan she said. "I can’t for this marriage to happen already."

"That is true," Rowan said as if he suddenly remembered something although Zina knew that wasn’t the case. "Where is your staff? It’s natural for us to know at this juncture."

Zina smiled. "Norima Talga," she answered truthfully, knowing fully well Rowan listened to her heartbeat, "I left it with the Night Mage." She said.

With her upright confession, there was no doubt she was on their side. Only if they knew....

"I shall have it fetched then." Rowan said grimly, "morning is in a few hours. I shall see you then for our marriage." He said brusquely and then left.

Master followed after, and Zina sat there for a long time before she made her exit. Once she reached her room, she retched out all the food she ate for dinner.

Hunger became a welcome addition.
