The Alpha's Blind Fate
Chapter 308: Choose Your Partner

Chapter 308: Choose Your Partner

FIONNA

"Oh I almost forgot. One person did bet on you."

Fionna drew back on hearing that. Not like she cared but she was curious, "someone did?"

"The Theta," the Sighter shrugged, like if not for anything, she should have figured that much out.

Fionna scoffed, crossing her arms before her as she shot a glare at the Dais where she was sure the woman responsible was currently sitting at.

"And what did she get on?" she asked roughly like the thought that Zina WolfKnight had done such a thing in the first place thoroughly pissed her off. And it did piss her off. Did the woman have nothing better to do with her time and money?

"She bet that you would definitely make it as Delta." The Sighter answered mechanically, unaware of the motions that she was going through.

Fionna scoffed even louder, "what does she think I am? Does she think I am incapable of making it as Beta?!" She huffed, feigning indignation.

Perhaps if it were another person, the person would have broken down over tears of joy while appreciating the fact that at such a trying time, someone believed in her. But Fionna was not someone else, and she also knew that Zina didn’t bet on her simply to cheer her up.

They were two women who started seeing the world for what it was when they were little. So just the same way Fionna knew that she would give it her all should she be pitted against the Sighter, that was how she knew that Zina must have weighed her gains and losses before she made her bet.

They were two women not allowed to make mistakes, and Fionna had never deceived herself otherwise.

She would definitely make it. Even if she had to fight herself, she would not fall back into the den that was the Red Sisters. If not for anything, she now had two motivations to continue forging ahead.

One being that she needed to prove to Zina WolfKnight that she had made it to the end and her bet wasn’t a futility, two being that she needed to kick Marcus DireWolf’s ass for humiliating and deceiving her.

Well, it wasn’t so much as humiliation on his own part... but deceit equalled to humiliation as far as Fionna was concerned, and she had to get back at the DireWolf Beta for that much.

She squared her chin, staring the Sighter in his mysterious brown eyes. "It’s a shame that no one betted on you. I would have cashed a lot of money just by doing so."

"Once again your confidence in me is truly startling."

Because she had no one to confirm her suspicions, she whispered to him. "Am I the only one who thinks those stuck up nobilities look far way too agile for what we have gone through in these three tests?"

Even the Sighter showed viable evidence of statins whereas those empty heads showed nothing of such. The Sighter, without looking at the men she was referring to, simply nodded.

"Indeed, but what about it? In this arena, it is each man to himself."

Of course. Crying blood that there was foul play would not change anything. Once the final results were announced, it would become final. And no one would dare challenge it on the mere basis that a certain group of people looked far more agile than a certain other group of people.

"Please, stand in three lines." Marcus DireWolf’s smooth commanding voice spoke, causing her to turn and glare at the image of the man who haunted her in the first tests, but now stood in flesh and blood before her.

Her throat was clogged with mixed emotions that she couldn’t recognize or point out for the matter. But the blood rage she felt towards him was unmistakable.

She wondered if he had a good laugh while he donned on the mask of Kaliga the Merchant while she acted the role of a fourteen year old masquerading as a grown up seductress with a baby face.

Oh, he must have had so much fun. Which only meant that she had much to avenge.

Fionna fell in line as was instructed, but the man did not glance her way for once. But that didn’t stop her from glaring holes into his head— the more she imagined the many ways she could cause him unimaginable pain, the more motivated she became to get through the combat.

"The Council of the Alpha King that proposed the combat have debated and come up with a modality as to how the combat will be held." Marcus began while scribbling something on a parchment paper.

"The Council has decided that each contestant will choose whom they wish to fight. It will be one against one of course, and the number to remain is estimated to be fifteen and the combat will be reheld."

Wait? What? They will choose whom they will fight?

The thirty of them glanced at each other while Fionna thought that was the craziest thing yet she had heard. The nobilities among didn’t seem as perturbed, and Fionna immediately knew this was an inside game by the council.

The one they called Basil NorthClaw grinned, pointing his fingers at her. "I would like to battle that one." He leered and the men about him began to laugh.

Yaren, who had been silent to the point of invisibility said nothing, same as the chattering box that was usually around him who had also made it to the combat.

Was his name Clement Vampage? Or was it Cassian Vampage?

No, the latter sounded like a woman’s name. The gods, she was terrible at remembering names, which wasn’t doing her any favours as she was supposed to know her enemies.

Marcus narrowed his eyes at the golden haired stuck up. "The Alpha King has of course decided to make it far more interesting. You will choose your partner, however, you will do so blindfolded."

"BlindFolded?" Golden Haired stuck up, quipped in the most narcissistic voice Fionna had ever heard.

At the same time, thirty servants bearing blindfolds appeared behind Marcus.
