Chapter 208: A Bloody Spectacle
Chapter 208: A Bloody Spectacle
ZINA
"The honored guest for this spectacle is finally here. Shall we now proceed to the fun part?"
Zina froze while Daemon’s eyes rested on her, casually taking her in. She didn’t know why the man kneeling before him was without his hand, nor did she know who the man could possibly be. But one thing had stood abaundantly clear and that was the fact that whatever was happening could be related to her.
"Come forward, Theta." Daemon said darkly, jumping from the banquet table that he was sitting on. He squatted before the man, although that did not in any way bring their status to that of equality.
Zina found herself moving forward on stiff feet while she noticed that Vessira had rejoined the Matriarchy Pack’s banquet table.
"Your Majesty?" Zina said in an unsteady voice while Daemon produced a silver dagger from his dark royal robes.
The dagger was without a hilt; as such, its build meant that it hurt both the holder and the tortured.
"This is Alpha Gablon from the BlueMoon Pack of the GreenLands...." Daemon said in a dark foreboding voice while he gripped the silver in a death grip, trailing the hardened point against Alpha Gablon’s body.
It was at the point that Zina realized something startling and honestly quite unsettling. Before she knew it, she gasped, staring at the Alpha in question in horror.
The BlueMoon Pack of the GreenLands was one of the few high-ranked packs that existed in the East. They had such vast connections and power, and there was a rumor that said they controlled even the Red Sisters to some extent.
Not even the WolfKnight’s who were still a mid-ranked pack came close to being as powerful as the BlueMoon’s Pack, and yet, Daemon had not only dismembered the man’s finger, but he was currently running silver through the Alpha’s body.
"Curse you YOU BASTARD!" The man howled in pain, his cries almost resembling that of a new born baby. That was exactly the kind of man Daemon was; a man capable enough to bring grown men to their knees.
But Zina was confused as to one thing; where were the man’s guards and why were they not coming to the rescue of their Alpha?
Zina’s eyes searched for the banquet table of the BlueMoon Pack, and when she finally found it, her breath stuttered at the sight that greeted her. The Alpha’a companion and guards all looked to be in a daze like they were out of their mind. It was almsot as if another controlled their mind, and that person was none other than Daemon NorthSteed.
That explained why his eyes still glowed golden, but that didn’t help to assuage the thundering in Zina’s chest. For she wondered what serious matter could have prompted Daemon to be reacting like this in front of his guests. Scratch what she earlier thought about Yaren looking more scarier to her than Daemon. The man before her now seemed to carry the prize.
Daemon scoffed loud enough that anyone in the room could hear him. "Bastard?" He said, "that is certainly a new advancement from the norm. Especially seeing as it is coming from a man who sent assassins to murder my own Theta."
While he spoke the words that was like could water being poured on Zina, Daemon dug the silver dagger deep into the flesh of the man face, and then proceeded to create an uneven cut the sliced the man’s flesh from his temple all the way down to his jaw.
Throughout it all, Alpha BlueMoon was screaming so much that the sound seemed to ricochet against the walls of the castle, freezing any living thing within range. Zina quickly chanced a glance at Marcus as if to ask the man how Daemon had already discovered about the incident that morning, but Daemon’s glowing terrifying eyes caught hers instead, and in them, she could see all of his displeasure he was currently feeling towards her.
She swallowed, looking away for she couldn’t bear the accusation in his eyes. And while that morning’s assassination didn’t shake her as much as meeting her mother did for she had had to survive such repeatedly occurring ’incidents’ under Eldric’s reign, she had at least been curious about the origin of the move against her for it seemed ill timed. To discover that Alpha Blue Moon was the one responsible was quite surprising to say but the least.
For what reason did the man have? Zina had never so much as mention his Pack nor crossed them so the fact that he had made a move to take her life was perfecting to say but the least. But her questions were answered with Daemon’s next words.
"Alpha Gablon sought to murder the Theta because he feared that she would be a stumbling block to my nonexistent marriage to his daughter."
Zina and every other person at the banquet hall gasped at that, although she was sure the root of their surprise was for different reasons. On Zina’s part, she was simply too stunned to discover that an Alpha such as Gablon had tried to take her life simply because he feared that she would block her daughter’s prospect with Daemon.
Suffice to say, while Zina should be appalled, strangely, that fact warmed her. At least, someone thought her to be a worthy competition other than then numerous Alpha’s that never glanced her side when they were thrusting their daughters on Daemon.
Daemon rose to his full height, silver dagger still clutched in his tight grip. Silver smoke escaped his burning hand but the man didn’t flinch for once. His glowing golden eyes that managed to be dark at the same said that he didn’t share Zina’s misplaced elation at what was happening. If anything, those enchanting orbs of his said that he would rain down chaos and anarchy on anyone who tried to lay their hands on her ever again.
Daemon chuckled darkly, "I can see none of you hold my mate bond with the Theta in high regards."
Zina swallowed, shifting uncomfortably on her toes while Daemon continued in a gravelly voice.
"I believe I have entertained this charade of marriage proposals for too long a time, and now, I shall make this abaundantly clear to anyone who cares to hear...."
The crowd seemed to lean in in anticipation of what Daemon would say next. Zina herself found herself trying ti hear his perfectly clear, commanding voice from the uproar that was her wolf titillating heart.
"...my bond with the Theta is taken in the highest regards, and know it that she is to be the woman whom I intend to marry as my Luna."
