Chapter 62: Night Mission

“Interesting...” he mumbled to himself before his lips curved up into a mischievous smirk.

Immediately, he headed towards the source of the flowery smell that he had picked up with his keen nose. If he wasn’t wrong, then he knew well enough whom he was going to meet. As for why she was wandering out here at night, he could find out simply by asking her.

Florian had no idea why the woman wasn’t paying any attention to her surroundings as she walked hurriedly through the garden. On top of that, he had no idea where she was going on this roundabout path. Wasn’t there a more direct route that she could have chosen for whatever destination she had in mind?

“Why are you wandering out here all alone on a night like this?” Florian asked as his eyes flicked upwards to gaze briefly at the full moon that was shining brightly in the sky above.

The woman jumped and let out a slight scream when Florian suddenly stepped out of the woods in front of her to block her path. Her eyes widened in shock when she realized who had suddenly appeared in front of her. Florian’s emerald green eyes stared at her face before he narrowed them suspiciously.

“I...I’m just out for a walk...” Regina replied while cursing her luck that she had to run into Florian of all people.

“Are you on your way to see my brother?” Florian put in his best guess.

“N-No...” Regina denied it before looking away.

“It’s all good if that is true. Leonard doesn’t like women turning up uninvited to his bedroom...” Florian stated truthfully.

“What do you mean?” Regina asked as she glared back at Florian.

“Just as I said. If he didn’t request for you, don’t you think it’s a little much to randomly waltz your way in there? I mean, even if you’re the prime minister’s only daughter at all that...” Florian said before he flashed her an innocent smile.

“Florian...” Regina hissed through clenched teeth.

Florian took a few steps towards her as his green eyes stared intently at her face. She started feeling very uncomfortable under his scrutinizing gaze. Her lips felt dried as he continued to approach her. For a moment, he seemed so intimidating, and he was so unlike the younger boy whom she had known during their childhood days.

“Regina, if you’re that lonely, I won’t mind keeping you company,” Florian said in a seductive drawl as his fingers reached out for a lock of her hair.

Regina moved to get away from him, but Florian reached her wrist faster than she could move to escape from him. His hold on her wrist was firm as he pulled her body against his.

“Let go...” Regina ordered as she tried to struggle against his hold on her.

“Hmm...judging from the time, I would say that you’re already too late...” Florian whispered directly into her ear.

“Too late? Too late for what?” she asked as her entire body stiffened in panic.

“You’re not really out on a stroll with this dress that you’re wearing, right?” Florian asked teasingly as his eyes traveled down the length of her body.

“Don’t change the topic. Answer me, Florian!” Regina cried out as she started hitting Florian’s chest with her other hand.

Florian smiled down at Regina’s flustered and frustrated expression as her eyes glared up at him in clear anger. Without answering her desperate questions, Florian wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her even closer to him. Regina felt the hardness of his body against her, and she was shocked at how tall and large Florian actually was now that she could feel him up close. He was also very tall and muscular.

“Flo...rian...” she whimpered his name.

Florian buried his face into the side of her neck before taking in deep breaths of her scent. His hand stroked her back and then her waist before he began kissing her hair. Ever since he could remember, Reginal had always smelled sweeter than the other girls.

**Back to the Present**

After getting dressed, I silently followed Madame Cassandra along the silent and deserted hallway of the maid’s quarters before she led me down the stairs until we emerged from the front exit of the building. To my utter surprise, a car was waiting for us in front of the building.

“Where are we going?” I asked in a small voice.

“Come along, we don’t have much time to spare,” Madame Cassandra said sternly before yanking the door of the car open.

She gestured with her hand for me to get into the car. The older woman got into the car after me before closing the door. The driver drove off at once and soon we arrived at our destination. I looked around at the scenery and the large building in front of me. The palace looked different from what I remembered because it was nighttime. The lighting threw warm orange light onto the large building of Prince Leonard’s palace.

Why did she bring me here?

“Follow me,” she ordered curtly before leading the way into the palace.

To my utter surprise, a tall man dressed in a dark grey suit stood there as if he had been waiting for me. Madame Cassandra led me towards him until I stood right in front of him.

“Welcome, Mila,” a kind voice greeted me.

“Prince Darius...” I murmured as I stared up into his face.

His grey eyes stared down at my upturned face before his lips smiled kindly at me. I had no idea what was going on or why Prince Darius was in Prince Leonard’s palace at this hour of the night. Was he sleeping over?

“Thank you for escorting her over. You may leave now,” Prince Darius said politely to Madame Cassandra.

With a nod of her head, the madame bowed low before she turned and left. I was stunned at suddenly being left alone with Prince Darius. The prince turned his attention to me, and his lips once again curved into a warm and reassuring smile. His presence made me relax and I felt like I could trust him. After all, he did help me out once before.
