The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid -
Chapter 425: My King
Chapter 425: My King
His words touched me like never before, and I could feel it in my heart and soul that I reciprocated his feelings and thoughts. I had never understood the concept of fated mates until I experienced it myself along with the prince. Our bond felt stronger and firmer than any endearing words of promise.
"I love you. I’ll love you forever," I said the words that came naturally to my mind.
**Back to the present**
When it came my turn to say ‘I do’, I found myself managing to say it without any difficulty. It must have been partly because I truly meant it when I vowed to be with the prince in sickness and in health, through thick and thin; however, I was certain that everything felt easier because I knew that we had a bond that even the heavens could never break.
"I do," I said firmly when it was my turn.
When we shared the kiss to seal our wedding vows, I knew that what we had was something that was going to last forever until the end of our lifetimes.
...
Our wedding ceremony in the church was followed by the coronation ceremony that had to be held in the main ceremonial hall of the Grand Palace.
"Hang in there, we’re a third of the way there," the prince said to me half-jokingly before winking at me. After finishing off our wedding ceremony, we were quickly escorted to a large room in the Grand Palace that was reserved for us to use for changing our outfits. Apparently, there were ceremonious outfits that we needed to wear for the coronation.
I tried my best to smile at the prince to reassure him that I was still operating fine. The truth was, I had started to feel slightly tired, and perhaps it was because all the tension was getting to me now that the wedding ceremony was over. I had to say that it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but that didn’t make it any less tiring. Thankfully, there were many maids there to help me change my outfit because the ceremonial dress was extremely difficult to put on. The dress resembled something from the Victorian period, fitting quite tightly around the waist and felt extremely heavy.
"Don’t we look like a couple out of a period drama?" the prince asked when we were both done putting on our new outfits. I nodded my head in agreement as I stared at our reflection in the full-length mirror as we stood side by side. Not only were our outfits changed, but our hair was styled differently, and we had very elaborate jewelry on as well.
"You look like a king," I gave him my most honest opinion.
"And I’ve got to say that you look like my queen," he replied as he interlaced his fingers with mine and gave my hand a squeeze.
Suddenly, there was a soft knock at the door that signaled that our time alone together was up. The schedule for the day was tight because after the coronation we still had a wedding reception to attend where we had to make sure to greet all of our honorable guests. Unlike the wedding ceremony, where the guest list was quite limited, the wedding reception would entertain a larger group of guests.
"Take a deep breath, it’s going to be over soon," the prince said as he slowly led me out of the room.
I found out that it was quite difficult to walk in the massive dress that I had on, and I was certain that life was about to get even more difficult when the heavily jewel-encrusted crown would be placed on the top of my head.
"Are you okay?" the prince asked with a look of concern when he saw me walking in a funny way.
"I’m fine, the dress is just hard to walk in, but I’m fine," I replied before forcing a smile because I didn’t want to worry Prince Leonard in any way. I knew that this upcoming ceremony was more for him than for me, and I wanted him to focus on his coronation. Although I was about to be crowned as queen, I knew that the real star of the show was Prince Leonard and not me.
"Let me support you," the prince said as he wrapped an arm around the small of my back.
"I’m fine. You should focus on the ceremony," I told him quite sternly. I felt like it was my role to support him more than the other way around.
"If you’re afraid that this looks unnatural, why don’t you just take my arm?" he said while offering me his arm instead. I glanced up into his face before offering him a smile because I could feel the care behind his words and actions. Without any further hesitation, I slipped my arm into his.
The coronation ceremony was a lengthy one, but thankfully, all that was required of me was to sit on a throne next to the prince. I was glad that I was allowed to sit rather than required to stand or walk around as I waited for the most important part where the crowns would be placed on our heads.
"Thank you for agreeing to be my queen," Prince Leonard whispered to me so that his words would be for my ears only when I stood in front of him. It was time for him to place the crown on my head after he had just been crowned as king. It was customary for the king to crown his own queen, and I had to say that I was in big favor of this particular tradition.
I tried my best to bow down in order to lower my head to accept the crown, but I ended up losing my balance slightly.
"Be careful," the prince said, and I felt his hand grip my upper arm to support me.
"Thank you..." I whispered as I started to panic about my accidental slip-up.
"Don’t mind other people. You’re doing magnificently well. There’s no need for you to bow, just stand still," the prince instructed calmly before smiling so charmingly at me that my heart skipped a beat.
