The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid -
Chapter 415: Wolf Baby
Chapter 415: Wolf Baby
I didn’t like the idea of other people coming into contact with Logan unless it was absolutely necessary. It wasn’t like I didn’t trust them, but I felt overly protective and couldn’t stop thinking about all the things that could go wrong. It took me many months for me to get accustomed to receiving help from various nurses and caretakers. In the end, I had to admit that having them around helped tremendously, and I was thankful for having that luxury offered by the prince. At least, we could take turns watching over our baby and catching up on some sleep.
Our baby was a very big eater, and according to the doctors, he grew up so fast and was far above the average on the growth curve. Although this seemed like good news at first, I soon found out that my body couldn’t produce enough milk for baby Logan’s consumption. Trying to eat more and sleep more proved inadequate in helping me produce enough milk. That was probably the first time that I truly felt that I had failed as a mother. It was the prince’s encouraging words that helped me through it all.
"Don’t worry too much about him. It’s great that he’s so energetic and has a huge appetite. I’ll help train him to drink from a bottle," the prince said before flashing me a bright smile.
"You don’t have to, I’ll do it," I said as I tried to take the bottle away from him.
"You should rest and get some sleep. Don’t worry, I can handle this much," the prince said reassuringly before he turned his attention towards our son.
I guess I had always thought that Prince Leonard would be an amazing father, but even then, I still found myself rather surprised at how attentive and loving he was throughout it all. Prince Leonard truly devoted his time to be with me and our child while also making sure to help out with everything that he could. Sometimes I felt slightly guilty for the fact that I was making him do so many things. However, how he seemed to handle his duties as a father so naturally made me admire him even more than ever before.
Seeing the prince smile at our son while he took care of him always tugged at my heartstrings and brought a warm feeling to my chest. Sometimes, while I was watching them together, I couldn’t quite believe just how lucky I was. I couldn’t help but think that the life I was living was too good for someone like me, and that thought only made me even more thankful to Prince Leonard for choosing me and for whatever fate that made me his fated mate. The prince always seemed to have more stamina than I did and didn’t have quite as much trouble as I did in skipping sleep and meals to deal with baby Logan.
"Just wait until he can walk, and it’ll be real chaos around here," the prince told me with a grin to show me that he was actually looking forward to it.
"I don’t even want to imagine," I replied, although I couldn’t stop myself from smiling just at the thought.
Baby Logan’s development was also much faster than a normal human baby. It didn’t take long for him to start crawling, and walking on four legs while he was in wolf form happened almost at the same time. Perhaps because he could walk already in his wolf form, he didn’t find it very hard to apply that skill to walking on his two feet when he was in his human form.
"Were you like this when you were young?" I asked the prince curiously.
"I’m actually not sure. I was told that I learned things pretty fast, but I’m sure that I didn’t transform as many times as our baby. I also never really liked it when I transformed, but he seems to be taking it just fine," Prince Leonard replied more seriously than I thought he would as he continued observing our son.
Prince Leonard was definitely right that chaos would break out when our baby learned how to walk. What he never mentioned was that this ability would come hand in hand with our baby’s ability to talk. Our baby’s speech was quite standard compared to that of other human babies and children, but he was definitely extremely loud and talkative when he was in his wolf pup form.
"Do you understand a word that he’s saying?" I asked the prince as I kept on staring at baby Logan in his wolf form. His smile and weak-sounding whimpering sounds had fully transformed into loud barks and growls. I never had the opportunity or the luxury to raise a puppy of my own, but I was quite certain that this was very close to it.
"I’m sorry, but I don’t understand wolf speech," the prince replied before winking at me.
"Are you serious?" I asked, not hiding my disappointment. Even though I was supposed to have wolf blood running in my veins, I couldn’t understand a word that my son was saying while he was in his wolf form.
"Don’t look too disappointed. I was just fooling around with you. I can understand almost everything that he’s saying," the prince replied before wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me closer to him.
"Why are you fooling around with me about something like this? For a moment, I was truly concerned," I replied, but I wasn’t at all upset.
It took me a short moment to realize that I had witnessed the prince talking to wolves before on that scary night when he saved me from them in the dark forest. Back then, I thought that his appearance was nothing short of magical. Prince Leonard really looked like the prince of wolves back then, and that probably wasn’t so far from the truth.
"Really? What is he saying? Can you ask him questions? Will he answer them?" I bombarded the prince with questions as my excitement clearly took over.
