The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid -
Chapter 390: Parting Ways
Chapter 390: Parting Ways
“But what about...” I began asking before Prince Leonard shook his head slightly as if to brush off my concerns.
“Don’t worry about anything and just leave this in my hands. I’ll make sure to talk to Darius about this. As I told you before, I’m sure that he is worried about Selena in his own way and also wishes her for the best even though he doesn’t think that they should be together. If I tell him that this is what she has always wanted to do, I’m sure that we can both find a way to ensure that she can pursue her dreams,” Prince Leonard said with conviction.
His confidence gave me hope and I could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel for Selena and her future.
“That would mean the world to me,” I told him honestly.
“And it would mean the world to me if you could just go to sleep and stop worrying now,” Prince Leonard said before he leaned in to place a soft kiss on the tip of my nose.
It felt like his gentle loving gesture contained magic because I could feel all of my worries suddenly melting away.
“Thank you so much. I can’t even thank you enough for all that you’ve done,” I thanked him in general for everything that he has done and all the trouble that I have caused him.
“You can thank me when I’ve managed to help your friend. As for now, you should go to sleep,” he told me calmly.
Perhaps it was because it was already very late at night or because I felt so comfortable in his arms, my eyelid suddenly felt so heavy.
...
People say that time heals everything. I’m not certain whether that saying is true or not, but it did seem like Selena was coming to terms with her recent loss and her new way of life. Prince Leonard also kept his promise of talking to Prince Darius to find a way to give Selena a new purpose in life now that their relationship was over. I never dared to ask Selena about her relationship with Prince Darius in fear that I might cause unnecessary sorrow by bringing up that sensitive topic.
Instead, I found out from Prince Leonard that the two of them were no longer together based on the committee’s orders and also Prince Darius’s agreement. As if he wanted to make sure that I wouldn’t put blame on his elder brother, Prince Leonard told me that Prince Darius had made this decision because he honestly thought that it would be better for Selena. In exchange, the two brothers worked to ensure that Selena had access to the education that she had dreamed of.
The day finally came when Selena had to set off on her new journey. Jessie and I were there to send her off on the day that Selena was scheduled to move out of the Sacred Chambers. In order to pursue her studies, Selena was relieved of her duties of being a maid and she was no longer required to work in the Sacred Chambers. The brothers had arranged for Selena to receive training at a hospital affiliated with the palace while at the same time starting her education in the medical field at a university sponsored by the royal family.
Life surely came with its strange twists and turns. Although I was certain that Selena would have been much happier had this happened before she had to experience her loss, I also thought that this opportunity might not present itself had she not gone through such a heartbreaking journey with Prince Darius.
“Thank you for sending me off,” Selena told Jessie and me with a smile.
I had to say that that was the most genuine smile that I had ever seen on her face since the day that she lost her child. The changes must have been tough for her, but now there seems to be hope for her and her future. She was leaving the sacred chamber and also the palace for good, but I hope that the future that awaited her was a bright one. I could still recall the moment when she told me about her hopes and dreams for the future, and I was glad that she was about to embark on a journey that would lead her to her goals.
“Good luck. I’m sure that they’ll make you study hard,” Jessie said teasingly.
“Take care of yourself, and I hope you make many new friends,” I added with a smile.
Selena approached us and we gathered into a group hug as if we could share positive energy with each other that way. I could feel myself getting emotional at our parting because I had never imagined that there would be a day when Selena would be leaving the palace like this. I told myself that this was truly for the better, and that Selena would be happier pursuing her goals. I kissed her cheeks softly before giving her hands an encouraging squeeze. Selena had tears in her eyes, but this time it felt like her eyes were filled with hope.
“Please pass on my thanks to Prince Leonard for helping me,” Selena said to me in a whisper.
“Don’t worry, I will do exactly that. Don’t worry about anything else and just focus on yourself. I will miss you dearly,” I said as I tried to hold in my tears.
“I will miss you so much!” Jessie said as she pulled Selena into another tight hug.
We waved our hands as a signal of our last goodbye as we watched Selena leave in a car.
“Perhaps this is all for the best..." Jessie said before trying her best to smile.
“Maybe you’re right. She had always wanted to study and now she’s given a chance at having a new beginning..." I replied in agreement.
It seemed like there was an unspoken thought between us as we watched Salena leave. We both didn’t know what her life might have been like had she successfully given birth to Prince Darius’s child.
