Chapter 340: The Truth About Our Memories

“Let me try that again. Did you know or did you think that I was worried?” I asked.

“What are you trying to get at, Mila?” he asked without beating around the bush.

I wasn’t trying to play games with him, and my question was just as it sounded. I wondered if he just guessed that I would be worried and that I wanted the girls to be saved or did he actually know with absolute certainty that that was what I wished for.

“I...wonder if you could have read my mind...” I replied softly.

The way the prince’s eyes stared deeply into mine told me that he understood the true meaning behind my words. I didn’t mean it in the metaphoric sense but in the literal sense. It did occur to me that the prince may have somehow read my mind and figured out what I wanted. Prince Leonard had a slightly conflicted look on his face as if he was debating what he was going to say to me next. That was enough to let me know that I must have guessed correctly.

As far as I was aware, all we were able to do was communicate when our minds were connected. It took quite a lot of physical interaction and stimulation for our minds to connect and once they did, we could communicate with each other without the need to speak. That was all it was supposed to be. However, things started to change when I began seeing scenes that I had never seen before in my life during the times when I was mating with the prince. I haven’t yet found the right time and place to bring up what I saw to the prince, but it did occur to me that if I could see those scenes then perhaps the prince could do the same.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to look through your memories,” Prince Leonard apologized with a solemn look on his face.

Look through my memories?

At first, I wasn’t even sure what he meant by that or if I had heard him correctly. It was beyond unexpected, and I didn’t quite know how to make sense of what he had just told me.

He looked...through my memories?

“My memories? How? When?” I questioned blankly.

I found it hard to believe that something like that was possible, but then again, so many things that I had believed were impossible became possible after I met the prince. If we could communicate with our minds, then it may not be a stretch for him to go through my memories.

“I’m sorry, Mila. I didn’t mean to go through your memories. It just kind of happened. At first, I saw random glimpse of this and that and then I started seeing more and more,” Prince Leonard explained.

Although it was clear that Prince Leonard was putting in a lot of effort to explain what had happened to me, his words were almost lost to me as my mind worked hard to piece everything together. I felt my entire face go numb when I finally realized that the scenes that I had witnessed before in my mind might have been a part of the prince’s memories of the past. If that was the case, the prince wasn’t the only that was supposed to be feeling guilty.

“No, that’s fine. Really, it’s fine. You see...I also...” I confessed before trailing off.

“Did you happen to see something?” the prince asked curiously.

“I didn’t go through your memories...” I said quickly to prevent any further misunderstandings.

I wasn’t sure how much of my memories that the prince saw but I only saw that one scene. Although I’ve seen it more than once, I didn’t see anything else at all and because of that, I wouldn’t really say that I had gone through the prince’s memories.

“I see...” he murmured.

“Wait, before that. What did you mean when you said that you went through my memories? As in, what did you see and how much did you see?” I asked without hiding my shock.

Violation of privacy was one thing, but I was certain that I had quite a lot of embarrassing memories that I didn’t want the prince to see. It would have been fine by me if just like me he had just seen one or two random scenes from my memories; however, it didn’t feel like that was the case. Perhaps the prince could see more from my memories than I could from his memories.

Just how much is he able to see?

“I don’t think that I can see everything but...I can see most things...” he replied a little hesitantly.

I was speechless as I felt my mouth hang open in shock. It was clear that the prince felt guilty about peeking into my memories but if he was tuning down on the amount that he could actually see, doesn’t that just mean that he could basically see all or almost all of my memories.

“It’s true that at first, I saw very random glimpse of scenes that didn’t make sense but as time went by, I managed to see more, and I could sort of sift through your memories...” he confessed as he watched my reaction.

“As in you can choose what you want to see?” I asked as I tried to understand what he was telling me.

“Something like that. Imagine if your memories are written down in books arranged on a bookshelf in chronological order then I’m able to pick out the books that I want to see,” he explained before grinning wryly at me.

I was too shocked to care about the fact that the prince did have a look of guilt on his face. His explanation made it crystal clear that the level at which the prince could see my memories was on an entirely different level from what I could manage to see with his. Unlike me, he seemed to have some control to pick and choose what he wanted to see while I just saw whatever randomly appeared and it wasn’t at all that much.
