The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid
Chapter 315: Women with Purpose

Chapter 315: Women with Purpose

After all, what’s the point of me having the prince’s child if he doesn’t even want it?

“But the prince... I mumbled in protest.

The duchess held up her hand to silence me and I found myself holding back my words. The older lady shook her head softly before she grinned at me.

“Seriously, why do you think I’m still around? Just take a look at the current king and you will see what I mean. Do you honestly think that the three of us were his only lovers from when he was in his prime?” she asked before her smile widened.

I didn’t know what to say although I understood the point that she was trying to make already. In response, all I could do was shake my head. Undoubtedly the king must have had many lovers when he was younger but as the duchess rightfully pointed out, only two women were still by his side given that Prince Leonard’s mother had already passed away.

“In case you don’t already get the picture, I’m going to give it to you straight. The only women who are still left by the king’s side has given birth to his sons, an ultimate alpha before. I had Prince Florian...” she said as she placed a hand flat on her chest.

She shot me a look with raised eyebrows that seemed to challenge and question my worth. Silently, without using any words, it felt like she was asking me what I had done to deserve to be with Prince Leonard in the longer term.

“You’re going on a trip with the prince soon, right?” the duchess asked after a moment of silence.

“Yes...” I replied softly.

The duchess smiled and I could already see where this conversation was headed. The smile that lit up her face and made her eyes sparkle with hope told me all that I needed to know about what was going through her head.

“Well, isn’t this such a heaven-sent opportunity? You’ll be spending many days and nights with him...” she pointed out before nodding her head at me.

I wished that things would be that easy and less complicated. My hands and feet felt cold from nervousness.

“Yes...” I replied softly in agreement.

If I became pregnant with the prince’s child, what would happen to me and to us?

...

“Wait! Please don’t go in there without permission,” a servant yelled quite loudly.

Asana was frankly too furious to care about what anyone had to say. Since hearing that Prince Darius had stepped foot into the Sacred Chambers, she knew that this was her chance to see him although she knew that he probably didn’t come here to see her. That didn’t matter in the least to her as she shoved the poor maid out of the way.

“Move! I told you to move!” she yelled back before glaring at the maid that had fallen to the floor.

“Lady Asana...” the maid whimpered.

Asana did not have any time or any particular sympathy for the woman as she stomped her way toward the door to the room where she knew that Darius was sitting on the other side. Since the day that she had spent the night with the prince and told him her request, she had not heard anything about her sister at all. On top of not seeing any progress related to her request, she had heard from Madame Sand about the possibility that she could be set free given how pleased the prince had been with her.

Although everything was phrased in a respectable and nice way, she knew that all that was just a lie and an excuse to send her away from the palace so that she could no longer look for her sister. Asana clenched her teeth together as her anger started to boil over. After being told by Madame Sand that she would arrange for a safe trip for her back to her hometown, Asana had laughed at the Madame’s face.

“You’re sending me away?” Asana asked accusingly.

“Please don’t think of it that way. I heard that you’ve made a request to Prince Darius, and he has been so kind as to grant your freedom. Without a doubt, this is a rare opportunity for you to return back to your homeland even before the end of your contract,” Madame Sand said patiently before showing a smile of goodwill.

However, Asana wouldn’t fall for a cheap trick like that so easily. During their conversation, Prince Darius had suggested multiple times for her to leave the palace and to go and live a peaceful life elsewhere. That would have worked for her had her situation been different. The change in the prince’s reaction when she spoke about her sister only made her certain that the prince knew something about her sister, but he wasn’t telling her. Now the prince was trying to chase her away, so she was even more certain than ever before that he was hiding something away from her. Her eyes narrowed suspiciously at the Madame before she shook her head while letting out a delirious low laugh.

“You can’t send me away. At least, not right now...” Asana said before she grinned knowingly at the older lady.

“Asana...” Madame Sand said pleadingly.

“I might already be pregnant with the prince’s child. You know, in here...there could be a baby growing...” she said as she patted her flat belly softly.

“It’s not...” the madame started saying but Asana’s laugh only cut her off.

“It’s not easy to conceive the prince’s child but it’s not totally impossible, right?” Asana asked knowingly before she beamed a smile.

The older woman did not have a comeback for Asana’s claim. Even though the possibility was slim it wasn’t zero and Asana could really be with a child. Sending her away could be problematic if she was already pregnant. Even Madame Sand knew that the prince’s decision was risky, but she also didn’t know how to argue with the prince on this matter.

“I’m going to see Prince Darius and ask him myself why he’s so desperate to send me away,” Asana declared with widened eyes.
