The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter -
Chapter 843: LIAM TWISTED STORY
Chapter 843: LIAM TWISTED STORY
The first day they received news about alpha Colter failed to defend Diandem pack from Colter attack, the Elders received a box from Cane.
But before that, they were in a heated argumentation with Abby. The four of them were sitting on their high chairs, while Abby was standing in front of them, her five personal knights were kneeling down behind her.
"You are such a disappointment, Abby." Elder Xarex stared at her intensely. His gaze alone was enough to relay how much disappointment he tried to contain.
Abby was silent.
"How long do you want to prove all of those people right to assume you are the weakest Serafim?" Elder Rose asked, her expression was hard. She still couldn’t get over with the fact the luna was holding divine power of the Serafim.
The story about the first Serafim’s life essence in her body was hard to be believable. She inclined not to believe that, yet the truth was before her eyes. It was something that she couldn’t deny. The power luna Iris held was very strong, if she had to admit, the luna was even stronger than herself.
"How can you fail to mention all of this in your previous letters?!" Elder Rania asked harshly. She narrowed her eyes. "Are you trying to hide it?"
Her guess was not wrong, that was Abby’s intention in the beginning. She even stooped so low as to claim Iris’s achievement as her own, which left Abby with a deep embarrassment for her action.
Abby didn’t need them to point out her error, she already knew it. She blamed herself for all of the failures and wrong decisions she had made. Under her sleeves, she started picking her nails, until the skin around her nails was bleeding.
Meanwhile, the fourth elder didn’t say anything, he watched everything unfolded and remained silent. He was the only one that didn’t say much ever since they arrived in the Silver River pack. He didn’t even ask any question during Iris’s explanation, neither he showed a surprised expression when he met Iris for the first time, seeing how similar she was with Abby.
This was Elder Dandolf.
"How you failed to mention that to us, Serafim Abby?" Xarex asked with dark voice. "Answer me!" He roared when Abby didn’t say anything.
Liam immediately stood up and spoke on Abby’s behalf, because he couldn’t stand it anymore. "This is not Serafim Abby’s fault, Elder Xarex."
"Who did allow you to talk?!" Elder Xarex’s roar touched the roof when he saw the knight inserted himself in this conversation.
Cedric gritted his teeth, he failed to stop Liam from doing something stupid. Like this, he would get Abby into more trouble than to save her.
Liam didn’t budge, he slightly stood in front of Abby, brushing her hand, since he knew what she was doing with her fingers.
"Allow me to explain the situation Elder Xarex," Liam spoke in calm and polite manner, in order to soothe Elder Xarex’s anger. "Luna Iris put Serafim Abby in difficult position."
"If there is something she needed to tell us, she needed to say it herself!" Elder Xarex threw a dagger look at Abby, this time she lowered her head, because she couldn’t handle such hatred mixed with disappointment look any longer.
Abby had been in this kind of situation a few times in the past, but she didn’t think she would ever get used to it. She wished, she was stronger and was not as useless. She hated herself and... her title.
It was Elder Rose, who finally reminded Elder Xarex that the more he pressured Abby, the more she wouldn’t talk.
In the past, when she was only fourteen years old, Abby had stopped speaking for a month when they pressured her for being better in order to control her power, which left them frustrated and became a little bit lenient with her.
Because the more they put pressure on her, the messier she became. Therefore, there was time when they neglected her and there was time when they became a little bit harsh with her training. They used all the methods they could think of to make her improved.
Yet, the result was still farfetched from their expectation.
"Let him speak. We need to know what exactly happened here," Elder Rose said with her stern voice. She stopped staring at Abby and shifted her attention at Liam.
Elder Xarex took a deep breath and grunted for Liam to start speaking.
Liam balled her fists, he hardened his decision. "Luna Iris withhold the fact about the lycan until recently and she... hid her power, until she summoned the Sylph in one of the battle with the monsters, but because she just lost her baby, Serafim Abby showed her compassionate and let her mourned, but then after a few days, when Serafim Abby wanted to talk about the power she held... she threatened to kick us out of their pack and fed us to the monster."
That was not a complete truth, because Liam made it look like Iris was the one who threatened to kick them out when it was actually Cane who had done it and more so, Liam didn’t give the context.
His narration misled their speculation and opinion.
"Luna Iris and alpha Cane have been trying to find more about Holy Kingdom and our secrets. Serafim Abby was in difficult position. The number of our knights have been depleted because of war."
"The secret of our Holy Kingdom?!" Elder Xarex slammed his hand against the armrest as he stood up. He was livid. "How dare he?!"
Elder Rose also stood up. "What have you said to him?"
"Serafim Abby didn’t reveal anything, but because of that, they watched closely our movement. They skimmed our letter to the Holy Kingdom, that’s why we couldn’t tell you in detail and ask for the reinforcement instead. In hope with more knights on our side, we will have an opportunity to explain the situation in detail."
That was not true, Cane had never intervened with their letter, more so, they used the Salamander to deliver it, which meant, he was not there when they wrote the letter until they received feedback from them.
Cedric frowned, he knew that was not right, but he didn’t interject. He would ask Liam later.
Elder Xarex then asked the other three knights, but they didn’t know for sure, since it would always be Cedric and Liam, who were closed with Serafim Abby.
But then, Elder Rose tried to confirm this with Cedric.
"Is that true?" Elder Rose asked.
Yet, before they could listen to the answer, someone had knocked on the door and one of the knights came with a news about alpha Colter, who had been captured by prince Kellan.
Not so long after, a knight also came with a small box.
"The gamma of the pack delivered this box from the alpha." He stepped forward to give the box to Elder Xarex and then added. "There is a message from the alpha, he said; if you have any question, you can ask me."
Elder Xarex didn’t seem to be happy to hear that, but when he opened the box, all the elders frowned to see a blank fabric.
Yet, after a few moment of inspection, Elder Xarex then unfolded the map and stretched it for a better look. He let his power flew and he was right about this worn out fabric.
"That’s the map." It was Elder Dandolf, who stated it. He came closer and took the map from Elder Xarex’s hand. "This is indeed the map to the Great Shrine," he confirmed it.
Everyone gasped when they heard this revelation.
"How could the alpha be able to get a hold of this map!?" Elder Rania was furious and flustered at the same time. This was an important item in the Holy Kingdom that had gone missing for decades. They had been looking for this for so long! "How can this map in his hand?!"
There was no one have the answer for the question and just like what the message said, they had to ask this to Cane himself.
With that, the meeting with the alpha immediately issued, not only about the map, but they had to discuss about what they had to do with alpha Colter and how to save him.
During the meeting, it was only Cane, who attended with the other four Elders, while Iris was absence, so did Abby and the five knights.
Meanwhile, Liam was punished for his misconduct and was locked inside his bedroom, not allowed to leave and participate to Diandem pack.
In the meeting, Cane told them truthfully about how he got the map. There was nothing he had to hide for, since he also didn’t know about the map until recently. He also told them about Haco, but unfortunately for them, they couldn’t find fault with the old sorcerer because he had died.
The map was Cane’s leverage to get them on his side and soften their prejudice against the lycan. He showed them a good faith by giving the precious map, thus they shouldn’t have held it against him for the fact the soul of the cursed creature resided in him.
Their decision about the lycan had not yet finalized, thus Cane still had a chance to get them on his side. It would give him a benefit in the long run.
Four days latter when they were about to leave to Silver River pack, Koda came with a shocking news, where he told them about the army of magic users under alpha Colter’s command.
