The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter -
Chapter 789: DAGGER IN THEIR HEARTS
Chapter 789: DAGGER IN THEIR HEARTS
"They are mate!" Cezi retorted, but even himself, the reason was very weak, it didn’t hold the water.
Prince Kellan and Arella were not mate by destiny, his sister was mate to the prince by choice, which mean there was not a mate bond between them that could justify how prince Kellan could be attracted to a girl half of his age.
Cezi had voiced this to his father, but alpha Derick’s devotion to the prince was unparallel, it was inconceivable.
"That’s your best argument?" Cane tilted his head and Cezi could feel his face turned so red.
Cezi could feel his head was spinning to discern the meaning behind it, though he already knew the answer.
"What do you want?" Cane left the topic open and let his imagination deciphered what he meant, as he jumped into another topic. He didn’t want to disclose too much, because it involved his mate too and more so, there was another pair of ears that was listening to them right now. "You asked to meet me here for a reason. You didn’t even tell your father about this meeting, I assumed?"
However, the way Cane said it and how abruptly he cut the topic off, surely it would leave Cezi with more question, after all, you might not realize what kind of information you had, until you thought about it again.
And right now, it was enough to put a seed of doubt in Cezi’s heart and questioned Kellan. He would be more alerted on whatever he was doing.
On the other hand, Cezi painfully needed to stop thinking about that.
"I came here to ask about why did you want to kill prince Kellan," Cezi replied. "It didn’t make sense for me, since you two have a good relationship only a few months ago."
Cane said nothing and waited for him to speak again.
"And I want you to surrender. This is a battle that you couldn’t win," Cezi said bluntly. "Prince Kellan and father will give you the option tomorrow. You better take it, for the sake of our old friendship and our father’s."
"I don’t make friend here, Cezi." Cane’s eyes gleamed dangerously and once again, Cezi felt like he was being a prey.
Cezi cleared his throat. "King Alan will pardon you if you pledged your loyalty to him."
"The same king, who killed my children?" Cane scoffed.
Cezi seemed to remember something and he looked apologetic. "I am sorry for your lost, Cane, but that’s the consequences of our current situation, if you surrendered earlier and agreed to pledge your loyalty, you don’t need to go extra length to fight the royal."
"Do you believe that as easy as that?"
"What are you fighting for, Cane? A baby to be the king? You and I both knew very well, who actually will sit on the throne and rule the kingdom, if you kept supporting Red Claw pack and their baby king." Cezi was vexed by this conversation now. Cane was not stupid to understand that, but why he still chose this path?
"I could care less, who is sitting on the throne. I want my revenge."
"You already got your revenge. Alpha Gallot had died, you own the Blue Moon pack. Surrender and everything will return to normal." Cezi knew it was very naïve of him to say everything would return to normal. The information about Kellan that he just heard kept nagging on the back of his mind. "Father feels very torn to fight you."
Decratic, Kellan, Dexter, Osana and Zeke. These people were his current aim.
"Goodnight, Cezi. It’s a pleasure to meet you," Cane said, he turned around and was about to leave, but Cezi immediately stopped him. He actually blocked his path.
"Give me the antidote," Cezi said, he stretched out his hand. "Give me the antidote for the poison that you put inside the wine," he explained when Cane didn’t budge.
"There is no antidote for that," Cane replied coldly.
Cezi pressed his lips. He didn’t believe that. "Who had concocted the poison? Is that your healer? Let me see her."
"The person, who concocted the poison had died." The image of Haco’s last moment fleeted in his mind, but he shut down the emotion and remained expressionless. "Even if I have it right now, you will never get it."
"Cane!" Cezi couldn’t help it anymore. "It’s my sister! My sister is the one, who had drunk the wine! She is paralyzed right now! Give me the antidote now!" he demanded viciously.
This was Cezi’s main reason to meet with Cane, because he knew his father couldn’t do it. He was bound to his duty as the alpha and to prince Kellan and the king, but Cezi was different.
"She is paralyzed now! She is going to die!" Cezi became very emotional to think his little sister had to endure such pain and meet her death tragically, while he watched her dying.
Cane smirked. "I am sorry for your lost, but that’s the consequence of our current situation. Why don’t you surrender and I can think of a way to find an antidote for that?"
Cezi’s face turned red, because that word was what he said to Cane less than five minutes ago when he felt sorry for the death of his children.
However, he couldn’t leave without the antidote or a way how to cure his sister.
"Cane!" Cezi roared, since he didn’t have anything to retort to his statement. He swung his arm, wanted to punch Cane squared on the face.
Unfortunately for him, Cane had a good reflex and he could see this was coming. Cezi couldn’t curb his temper after the provocation from Cane.
Cane stepped aside and kicked him instead, so hard Cezi fell to the ground and curl his body in pain.
"Do you really think Kellan gave the wine accidentally?" Cane approached Cezi, his body towered above him. "Don’t be so naïve, Cezi. He knew the wine was poisoned, but he still gave it to your sister."
"He will never do that!" Cezi coughed blood. He could feel a few ribs were broken.
"Just like how he will never touch those children?" Cane straightened his back and crossed his arms. "Why he has the need to keep the children with him when he could send them away? What the reason to keep the children during our current situation?"
Redmond had told Cane about this, how Kellan kept three or so little girl after they took over a pack. What made Cane even more sick was the fact one of the children had curly hair. It didn’t take a genius to see what that bastard imagined!
"Don’t you question why he can walk now?" Cane’s voice echoed in this quiet cliff.
"It’s because black magic! Someone cursed him, so he couldn’t heal from his wound!" Cezi blurted out. He panted, as he tried to stand up again, but the pain on his ribs were hard to ignore.
"And who had cursed him?" Cane narrowed his eyes. "You are not that stupid enough to think someone from my side had done it years ago, right? The people from the Holy Kingdom wouldn’t fight you, if that’s the case."
This was another thing Cezi needed to think of. It was great if he could come to his sense and see things more clearly.
But even if he didn’t, it didn’t make any different for Cane.
After saying his pieces, Cane left and Lou followed behind him. The merchant looked extremely quiet on their way back to the campsite.
Cane actually left Cezi alone in the cliff, didn’t even care about his safety. He only felt annoyed because Kellan managed to escape the wine.
"Cane." Lou suddenly stopped walking, but Cane didn’t, which created a distance between them before Lou spoke again and this managed to make the alpha halted his step. "Back then, are you trying to say Kellan preferred little girl?"
Lou’s eyes were extremely sharp under the moonlight, he looked like someone else, as he tried to control his own emotion.
"Is that what you are trying to say?" Lou asked again in firmer tone. He watched how Cane turned his body and faced him. The dept of his eyes confirmed what he guessed.
It was crazy to draw such conclusion, but then when Lou thought about it, it took him to this final outcome. He hoped he was wrong.
"Yes. That’s what I was trying to say." Cane waited for his next question, as if he knew this merchant had realized something. He had connected the dot, but too afraid to confirm it.
Both of them were waiting, until finally Lou blurted it out. "Was that..." He balled his fists tightly beside his body. "Was that what happened to Iris when she forgot a certain event in her life?"
This was very wild, but judging of how infatuated Lou to Iris, of course, he dug about her past too. He knew Kellan visited the Blue Moon pack frequently in the past before the affair between him and alpha Gallot’s woman was revealed.
Now, Lou was sure, there was no affair at all between them with Kellan’s preferences, of course, Mason’s mother wouldn’t be so attractive in his eyes.
In that case, the reason he visited the Blue Moon pack very often...
"Something happened between her and Kellan?" The question was akin to a dagger for both of them.
Lou remembered his conversation with Iris. It happened in the past. The pain that was equal to losing both of her babies...
