Chapter 784: THOSE WHO WERE LEFT BEHIND AND THOSE WHO LEFT (3)

Chapter 784: THOSE WHO WERE LEFT BEHIND AND THOSE WHO LEFT (3)

"We managed to take over the harbor in the Chrystal Moon pack!" Iris said with cheerful voice. That was the gist of the letter Cane wrote for her.

Within fifteen days, there were only two letters from the Battlefield and the first letters literally only listed the warriors that had fallen during the battle, informing their family to stop waiting. Their bodies would be buried on site, since it would be too risky to send them back.

At that time, Iris could only sigh in relief because none of the warriors she was close with, who made it in the list, though her heart went to those warriors, who didn’t make it.

Therefore, the second letter that mentioned the progress of the battle made them really happy, because their main goal was to get back the harbor.

"Right now, they will concentrate their defense in the Harbor, while making their way to conquer Chrystal Moon pack." Iris smiled so bright in the end of the letter.

She was a little bit disappointed because there was no special letter for her from Cane, but she couldn’t complain. Yet, she felt this was not the first time for Cane to not send her any letter, though she was not able to put her finger on when this kind of situation ever happened.

Her memories jumbled up in her mind. She always felt like she forgot something important...

"See? That’s my man!" Sofia exclaimed proudly, but when dozen pairs of eyes directed to her, she cleared her throat, blushing and focused on Rye, who demanded her attention.

Iris smiled when she heard that. At the very least, Sofia had accepted Redmond and she would tone down her crush on her mate. Needless to say, Iris was also proud of Redmond. She wished nothing happened to all of them and only good news that they would receive.

Thankfully, their prays were heard and a week later, they heard Cane and Cedric managed to lead their warriors and knights to eliminate the warriors in the Chrystal Moon pack and claimed the pack back.

Of course, this news sent happiness to all of them.

However, even after the winter ended, Iris still couldn’t meet with Cane. He was far in the frontline. It would be impossible for her to meet him under this circumstance.

Even when the new moon came and went, Cane didn’t come. She thought, he would visit her in secret with the help of Lou like before, but Iris stayed all night and there was nothing happened. Cane didn’t come.

Probably because he could control the lycan extremely well now he didn’t need her to be by his side.

In her annoyance, Iris wished Lu would make a fuss and send her mate to her, yet it was only her wishful thinking...

Iris was sad. She missed him like crazy, but felt so bad if she wanted his attention, since this was not the right time to be selfish.

"But, why he didn’t write a letter for me?" Iris sulked to Hanna one afternoon. She buried her face on the pillow, while Hanna tried to comfort her. Unfortunately, no matter what she said, it could calm her missy down. "He can write a letter to me, asking about how am I doing, is that too hard?"

All the letter from the battlefield only contain about important information for them to learn, nothing less nothing more and Iris felt like she was forgotten.

She tried not to be bothered by this, but she couldn’t.

And when Iris was about to cry, Amee came with her lunch. Hanna immediately told her what happened because she didn’t have any idea what else to say to comfort Iris.

"What about I tell you a story when alpha Cane was little?" Amee sat down on a chair near the bed.

Hearing what she offered, Iris lifted her head from the pillow, she stared at the old lady, pursing her lips, but her curiosity got the best of her. "What story?" she asked timidly.

Amee smiled softly when she caught the luna’s interest. "I will tell you only if you finished your meal."

"Amee, I am not a child!" Iris protested, but in the end, she ate her meal, while listening to a story about when Cane was still young.

It happened when he was only seventeen years old. Amee told Iris that Cane had shown his leadership in such young age in her previous story and now she told her about how he loved his twin siblings and accompanied them out of the pack house to watch festivities in the middle of the night.

And they had a blast, since this was the first time Rora and Edgar were away from the pack house without any warriors that followed their every steps. At that time, the pack was very safe, so it was not dangerous for them to go out.

However, of course, when they returned, alpha Josh had been waiting for them and the three of them got punishment.

But, the night of the festival would forever be the twin’s core memory.

"Tell me more," Iris said. Hearing story about Cane and knew a little thing about him could relieve a little of her disappointment because Cane neglected her.

Amee then told her about the story when Cane went away for his training when he was eighteen years old. The training in the capital city should last for two years, but Cane accomplished it within a year.

"During that one year, he almost never sent any letter aside from informing luna Crystal and alpha Josh that he was alive and fine." Amee took Iris’s hand and smiled softly at her. "This habit of his is really annoying, I know, but this is his way to accomplish his task ahead of time, so he can return quickly. In his word, if he told them how much he missed them and then they replied with the same thing, it would disturb his concentration and he would only want to exchange the letters and focus on that. I know this is weird, but I hope you can understand. This is the alpha’s way to wrap everything up quickly and return to you, luna."

Iris lowered her head. Amee told her that it happened ever since he was so young, an annoying habit that made Iris wanted to bite him the moment she saw him.

"It doesn’t mean the alpha forgetting about you or neglecting you, but he wanted to see the end of it, so he can be with you again."

"I miss him, Amee..." Iris said pitifully, a single tear fell on her cheek.

"I know, he must miss you too, luna. Believe me." Amee came closer and then hugged her. She patted her back and caressed her head. Her hug felt like a mother’s hug and this was comforting.

A week later, there was a letter came from the battlefield, this time, it mentioned Iris and a few people were expected to move to Chrystal Moon pack, because Cane, Jace and Cedric’s group would move to Bloody Wolf pack, where they would have a face off with the royal warriors and warriors from the Celestial Moon pack, alpha Derick.

The reason why Cane planned for Iris to move to the Chrystal Moon pack was because Redmond would be there and if something happened, she would have her escape through the harbor. More so, even though they didn’t meet and it didn’t change anything, but knowing Iris was only a pack away from him made Cane felt a little bit better.

Of course, Iris was thrilled to move to Chrystal Moon pack. She also felt a pack away from him was better than two. It was silly, she knew.

"Can I come with you to Chrystal Moon pack?" Sofia asked when she heard about it and requested to meet with Iris. "I heard, Redmond will be there too."

This must be the first time for Sofia to try to talk with Iris after more than a month they were in the same pack and within the same area.

Iris wanted to be petty, because this woman only talked to her when she had a hidden agenda, but then she curbed it down, thinking Redmond wanted to see his baby. Since, Cane was allowed her to come to the Chrystal Moon pack, the place must be safe enough.

"Okay. We will move early in the morning," Iris replied curtly and then that was the only time when they spoke with each other.

The next morning, Iris only took Amee with her because she didn’t want Hanna to be separated from Will, since she knew how it felt to be away from your love one.

At first, Hanna disagreed, but Iris insisted, saying Amee was enough to accompany her, only then she relented.

Before she left, Will approached her when she was alone. Iris exited her bedroom and found Will was waiting for her. He was smiling and greeted her politely.

"I will escort you to the carriage, luna. Everyone has been waiting for you," Will said and then they walked together in the corridor. "Luna, thank you for letting Hanna stay here with me."

Iris tilted her head. This must be the first time for both of them to have this kind of conversation. "If you felt grateful, I hope you will treat her well. Don’t ignore her again."

"Of course," Will replied timidly, but then he caught Iris’s movement. "Luna, is the wound still hurt?" he asked about the wound on her thigh.

"Sometime." Iris rubbed her thigh over her dress.
