Chapter 702: BLACK RAIN AND DARK SKY (44)
"I know you are awake," Cane said, as he ran his fingers absentmindedly on her jawline. He had met with Koda and took care a few things, but when he returned, Iris was still asleep.
Adjusting to the time Iris usually woke up, Cane had prepared food for her. It couldn’t be said as a breakfast, since it was close to lunch.
"I have prepared food for you, don’t you want to eat?"
Sheepishly, Iris opened her eyes. "What you have prepared?" she asked timidly, as she glanced at the tray on the table. She couldn’t resist the temptation of food, her appetite was incredible recently. You could say this was an easy pregnancy, aside from occasional nauseas and craving something.
"Iris..."
"I am sorry, I know I am wrong. I will not do it again."
Cane stared into her blue eyes. "Please, meant it when you promised me something."
Iris lowered her head, feeling incredulously guilty because she went behind Cane’s back last night to see the white diamond tiger.
"I don’t want to see you in danger, Iris." Cane’s voice softened. "I have a lot of people tricked me, I don’t want you too do the same thing."
"I am..."
Cane kissed her lips to swallow her apology. "Let’s eat." He helped her to sit down and arranged the pillow behind her back. "Hurt?" he asked when he saw Iris winched.
"A little bit," Iris replied sheepishly, red color spread on her cheeks. "My hips a little bit sore..."
Cane put the small table, so she could eat on the bed, while he wrapped his arm around her back and massaged her hips, while she was munching on her meat.
===========================
Zale was stunned. He didn’t know what to do after he witnessed this and choose to runaway before neither Kian nor Nala noticed him had witnessed them there.
"What a bad day!" Zale grumbled on his way toward Lou’s tent, where he found Sabian was tending to his master. Lou looked like a mess. He refused when he was told to let Grace check on him.
He acted all tough, but there he was, unable to even lift a finger.
At the same time, Zale felt a pity for him because he was actually being cheated on and that woman, instead of tending to her man, was kissing another man instead. Zale would look Kian differently from now on too.
"Boy, you need to ask permission before you entered the tent," Sabian reprimanded Zale. He was actually a sorcerer too, but from what Zale saw, it seemed, he was not as powerful as the merchant.
Zale ignored what Sabian said and walked toward Lou’s bed, which made the old man mad, but Lou stopped him when he was about to drag him out of the tent.
"Leave us alone," Lou said in his weak voice. He hated the sound of it and even more when he was in vulnerable state, where he couldn’t defense himself if he was being attacked.
"But, master..."
"Leave."
Couldn’t argue with his master, Sabian finally left the two of them.
"How many people have known about my identity as a sorcerer?" Lou asked straight to the point.
"I told no one."
Lou raised his brows. He looked exhausted and the sight of him should be able to evoke sympathy, but somehow, he still managed to look annoying.
"Really?"
Zale furrowed his brows when his honesty was being questioned.
"Do you still have that stone?" Lou remembered it was Zale, who had brought the magic stone when they were going to help Aliana and the other, so he thought, he had some with him.
Zale didn’t answer immediately, he stared at the merchant blankly. "I have stone," he finally said.
"Good. Give it to me." Lou needed to get some extra energy, but it took a while for Sabian to get some magic stones, especially when they had to afford it secretly, since the magic users from the Holy Kingdom had been around.
"With one condition."
Lou wanted to scoff. "Do you really want to bargain with me? Name your price." He thought this boy was not interested in money, but as it turned out, when you were poor, money was a temptation, no matter how young you were.
"I want you to clear the debt between you and gamma Ethan." Zale didn’t like people, who closed with the luna to beg someone else, especially the person that his luna disliked.
Lou raised his brows, if he was strong enough, he would have guffawed with that absurdity. "You like Ethan that much? I don’t know that you look up so much at him."
It was not Ethan, but the luna instead, but Zale didn’t want to explain that. He kept his expression the same, until Lou was done with his insult.
"Fine. Give me the stone and I will count the debt between me and Ethan is even." Oh, please, this young boy was too young and immature to bargain with a merchant like him. If there was no witness, then there was no deal that happened, that was the rule.
As someone with experience like Lou, he didn’t think there was anyone would take what this young boy said seriously.
"What? You don’t believe me?" Lou raised his brows. "Fine. I am going to sleep." He closed his eyes.
Zale then fished out something from his pocket and put it on the table next to Lou. It was a stone. "There. You need to keep your promise. There is no debt between you and gamma Ethan."
Lou opened his eyes again and glanced at the stone, but because it was on top of the table and from his position, he couldn’t see it clearly, yet because it indeed looked like that stone, he agreed readily.
"Fine, fine. Give me that stone."
"Why? You can’t take it?"
Fuck this boy!
Zale then stood up and walked out of the tent before Lou realized there was something wrong with the stone, but before that, he generously let him knew about Nala’s infidelity.
"It’s a pity, I saw your woman kissed one of the warriors." Zale didn’t reveal the identity of the warrior, because he didn’t want Lou to make trouble for luna’s personal warriors.
Lou cackled when he heard that and not long after, Sabian entered the room, in which he asked to bring the stone on the table.
"What do you want with this stone, master?" Sabian looked confused when he handed the stone to Lou’s hand.
From closer look and even more after Lou felt the stone, he knew in an instant, he had been tricked by that brat. It was not the magic stone!
"I am going to kill him!" Lou growled, unfortunately, he couldn’t move, or else, he would have made Zale swallowed this stone!
===========================
"All the preparation is done," Cane said, he waved his hand and Pax walked out of the room, where the alpha was having a meeting with alpha Colter and Koda about their next move, he returned with a boy, around ten years old, who looked so scared, as he tried to hide behind Pax. "My man managed to get him."
Alpha Colter raised his brows and Koda cackled.
"So, this is alpha Nolan’s precious son?" Alpha Colter looked happy. "What are you going to do? Sent him one of his arm, as a warming and sent his another arm if alpha Nolan still refused to agree with our term."
"Tie him on the pole and put him in our gate, so people from Winter Moon pack can see their future alpha."
Alpha had a lot of children, but all of them were women, until he got this little boy and he treasured him so much. There was no way the alpha wouldn’t react if his son was in the enemy’s hand.
"No," Cane said firmly. "This boy will be less valuable if he is crippled. Someone as proud as alpha Nolan will not accept someone crippled even if it is his own son. He is too proud to make a defected son to be his heir."
After some thought, alpha Colter and Koda agreed with that.
For now, the boy would be under Aderan and Della’s care. None of them realized that the woman was queen Della, since they couldn’t care less about a maid that came with Cane’s group. They had never actually seen her too.
Days later, they received news about how the Holy Knights and the shifters had taken back the Bloody Wolf pack and Silver River pack, they managed to force alpha Nolan’s warriors and royal warriors back to Winter moon pack.
Which meant, it was the time for the south packs and west packs to regroup and take down the east packs.
Letters had been sent through the lizard and they really overworked this poor creature, since this was the only safe way to communicate with each other.
However, there was another problem that they overlooked, because of all this mess. The people, who got sick increased and the Serafim couldn’t keep up with the new patient.
Right now, there were around fifty warriors and Knights that had fallen sick, even though the rain was not as frequent as before, since they had entered winter season.
Aside from that, there was another problem too.
"I don’t know if this required our concern, but the activity of the monsters is very strange. They should have been dormant during winter, but ever since weeks ago, we spot group of monsters transmigrated and it doesn’t stop even when winter came. They are heading to the north."
