"Luna, if the alpha knew about this, they will have our head," Dean and pax pleaded with Iris to go back to her bedroom.

It was in the middle of the night and Cane had to go to discuss a few things with alpha Colter and Koda about their next move after they received news from the Riverside pack. In the letter, they also mentioned they had found Haco and he was in an intensive care from the healers there, which made Iris’s mood lit up, though she was still worried about the other, who had not yet been found.

"Don’t worry, I will be careful," Iris said, she hugged her body and tightened her cloak because the weather became very cold. "I only want to see the diamond tiger and after that I will go back to my bedroom."

"Luna, I don’t think this is a good idea. The boy is sleeping."

"Good!" Iris smiled at Dean, who looked like he was on the verge of tears. "I will only heal his wounds and then I will return," she said lightly.

And no matter how Dean and Pax coaxed Iris, the luna didn’t want to listen to them.

Koda frowned. "Is this a secret? Why can’t I join?"

Bound to his position as the beta, Koda didn’t have any other choice, but to listen to what his alpha told him to do. He left the room with tight lips.

Sensing something, Cane didn’t speak, until alpha Colter himself, who started this conversation.

"I know that you don’t like a small talk, so I will make it short." Alpha Colter sat on his chair, staring at the map on the table, where there were a few colorful pins that marking their warriors and the areas under their control. "I want you to consider taking Laluna as your mate."

Cane scoffed. He didn’t even try to hide his disdain when he heard that, but alpha Colter immediately elaborated his suggestion.

More or less, he parroted what Laluna had told him. He had to admit that woman was quite smart to be able to come up with this idea. It was clear that she had thought about this matter thoroughly and weighed all the options, considering all the worst possibilities that could happen.

Alpha Colter blabbered something else and then stopped when he realized Cane had not yet uttered a single word.

"Alpha Cane, I hope you will take this opportunity." He closed his speech in diplomatic way. "This can unify our cooperation. Once you take Laluna as your mate, I will adopt her as my daughter and you will always have the strength of Red Claw pack behind your back."

Still, Cane didn’t say anything, his expression was still the same, he didn’t let alpha Colter to know what was in his mind.

The silence inside the room stretched out and when it became very uncomfortable, alpha Colter spoke again.

"What do you think, alpha Cane? I will not ask you to answer this right away, but we can discuss a few things that can make you more comfortable with this arrangement." The more alpha Colter spoke, the more he dug his own grave. "Luna Iris can be the mistress, I am sure Laluna will not mind it. From what I heard, your pack member is not really welcoming to her because of what happened in the past, even more when she has not yet with a child, even after a year has passed and the problem with Sofia."

Still, Cane said nothing.

"Is there something you are not satisfied with?"

Finally, Cane deigned him with a reply. "I will assume this conversation never happened, but if you brought this thing up again, I will consider that as an insult to my mate and you can consider to take the throne on your own." Cane stood up and somehow, alpha Colter felt so small in front of him.

After saying that, Cane walked out of the room only to find Laluna had been standing outside with baby Vemion in her arms.

"Alpha Cane..." she called him carefully.
