Chapter 686: BLACK RAIN AND DARK SKY (28)

They were scared to guess, who might be under the rubbles of the rocks.

Who could that be? The enemies that fell with their pack member? Or this person was one of their members? Aliana? Zephyr? Kian? Or who was that?

"Damn it!" Eron growled, as he started to move rock after rock from on top of this person.

With this deep chasm, they didn’t need to worry about the member of the Bloody Wolf pack, who fled from the battle, because they were safe now, yet you couldn’t say the same to the other side of this chasm...

They only hoped the reinforcement would find a way to reach to them in time before everything was too late and they had to lose them all.

The five of them ignored how the sharp edges of rocks injured their hand, as they moved them from this person as quick as possible.

Needless to say, once they managed to get this person out of the rubbles, they barely able to recognize them. Half of their body was ruined and their face was unrecognizable.

"Who do you think it is?" Arlen asked.

"This must be a man from the clothes he is wearing," Deca said, he was the warrior from the Riverside pack, same like Arlen.

"Zephyr and the other was not wearing this kind of clothes," Otis muttered.

"He must be one of the royal warriors, who had fallen alongside with them," Eron said. Because of how bad the light was and their current emotional state, it was hard to tell, yet after a close inspection, all of them agreed this person was one of the royal warriors.

"Should we bury him again with the rubbles?" Dyne kicked the dead man body, upset. "We waste our time and energy to dig him out when he can stay there forever."

"Let’s go find the other!" Eron didn’t want to dwell with it. Yes, it was annoying that they got it wrong, but it also meant, the other wouldn’t be too far, since they fell from close spot with each other. "The other must be close from here! Pay attention!"

They stopped grumbling and started searching the area thoroughly.

Abby whimpered softly when she heard people roared in excitement, chanting the praise for the knights from the Holy Kingdom.

From the sound of it, it seemed, they finally were here, which was great. It meant, they could turn the table against the enemy now.

However, Abby was too tired, she was unable to move her body, not even lifting her finger. She tried to focus on what the people around her were saying, but the more she listened to them, the more she couldn’t comprehend a single word out of them. Their voices sounded like a buzz in her ears.

Abby fought to stay conscious, but she couldn’t keep it any longer. Her energy was completely depleted, she had never felt very weak like this before.

The last thing she remembered, her back touched a soft bed. Someone must have built a tent and put her in a makeshift bed, so she could rest, which was great.

Everything would be fine right now. The reinforcement was here and Abby only needed to recover quickly.

With that thought in mind, Abby stopped fighting back and fell into unconsciousness. The darkness was very quiet and she had this bad dream.

Because of what Iris had requested for them to do, they fell behind the scheduled so bad, until Cane, Ethan, Lou and some of the Rosantine Guild’s men, who stayed behind with the alpha and the merchant, managed to catch up with them.

Lou was about to lash out at his men, but they actually beat him into it, as they reported what Iris had done and why they couldn’t really reject her idea.

"You said it yourself that we need to take her into consideration."

"You clearly value her a lot."

"She was very scary when those lights exuded from her body!"

There were around ten people that surrounded Lou, talking at the same time and gave the merchant a headache.

And while Lou dealt with his man, the first thing Cane did was to look for his mate, making sure she was fine and was not injured.

"She is more than fine, alpha," Dean said.

"The luna actually took control of this entourage," Pax added.

They then proceeded to tell Cane what happened, the explanation was concise and brief, but this didn’t fail to put a smile on Cane’s face.

"Della, can I have a moment with my mate?" Cane asked Della respectfully to leave the carriage. "My men have prepared more comfortable carriage for you." He didn’t address her as a queen anymore, since she was not.

Della smiled softly, she wanted to say that she was comfortable in this carriage, but then she held herself back, because she was not that close with Cane to make such a joke, more so, she didn’t think the alpha would appreciate it.

Politely, Cane helped Della out of the carriage, by holding her hand, as she had a hard time to get off, since she was very pregnant right now, after that Cane instructed Dean and Pax to look after her and escorted her to her new carriage.

Dean and Pax took Care of Della and Lou dealt with his man, while Cane attended to his mate, who was currently curled herself under the blanket, sleeping. She didn’t have any idea how Lou’s men were badmouthing her out there to their master, but here she was having a good time on her own.

Cane couldn’t help, but smiling at the sight of his mate. He was rather taken aback to see this entourage was still half way to the Golden Light pack, his mind raced to the worst possible thing that could happen.

Did they attack by rogue? But, from what he learned the rogues wouldn’t attack this large entourage, more so, this dessert wouldn’t provide them with a terrain that could benefit them to launch a sneak attack.

Did something happen to the pregnant women? Did they meet misfortune? Was there a monster attack?

But Cane’s mind was in peace when he heard the explanation of what happened from Dean and Pax. He couldn’t help, but smiled helplessly at the sight of Iris.

"You become a handful now," Cane said softly, as he leaned over and kissed her lips tenderly. He didn’t want to wake her up, but he wanted to hold her close to him, yet he was dirty and drenched from the black rain. His eyes traced to her lower body, but the blanket hid her bump...

Cane stared for a while, but then decided to take a look, as he pulled down the blanket, revealing her body, but because of the dress she was wearing and her bump was not really visible to see, since she was still four months along, you couldn’t tell that she was pregnant.

Cane leaned over and kissed her belly, but when the water dripped on her makeshift bed and wet her front dress, he immediately backed down, decided to clean himself first before trying anything with his mate.

Gently, Cane tucked Iris inside the blanket again. She looked very adorable, as she snuggled in and sighed deeply.

On the back of Cane’s mind, he could feel the lycan was pacing back and forth impatiently. This lycan had been trying to go out, even more when he was injured, but right now, Cane could get a better control of him and managed to shut him down quickly to Lu liking.

That was why, Lu still couldn’t resurface even when he was being stabbed by Aria and was injured. Probably, the cursed creature managed to go out if Iris didn’t come in time to purify the black magic in him.

Cane could feel how Lu wished ill upon him, so he could come out, but to no chance...

Outside, there was a knock on the door and Lou’s voice could be heard. "Iris? Hey, I have something to explain to you..." he said in soft, coaxing tone, which made Cane frowned. "That’s not like how you saw it. I am not that kind of monster, okay? I don’t abuse those children." Lou cleared his throat, knowing how it was a lie. "I will explain, okay? Can you come out for a while, please?"

Behind Lou, his men were dumbfounded. They rubbed their head and legs, because Lou kicked and hit them mercilessly after hearing what happened. Their master’s reaction was beyond their comprehension.

Instead of lashing out on that woman, it was actually them, who got the punishment and now, here he was, their ferocious master talking very sweet, as if he was eating a lot of candies.

"Iris... come out for a..." Lou immediately backed down when it was Cane, who opened the carriage door and jumped down. His eyes fixed on the merchant, without saying anything.

The alpha looked even scarier when he didn’t say anything at all like this.

"I asked for Iris, why it will always you, who came to meet me?!" Lou protested.

Meanwhile, Ethan leaned his back against one of the carriages that used to carry their chests, enjoying the sight before his eyes, not long after, Dean and Pax joined him too. It was rare thing to be entertained in this kind of situation.

"My mate is sleeping, what do you want?" Cane asked darkly, he closed the door behind him.

"Never mind," Lou said, waving his hands. "I will talk to her when she woke up."
