Chapter 665: BLACK RAIN AND DARK SKY (7)
"How is she?" Aliana asked Penny, the healer from the Bloody Wolf pack. It had been two days since they arrived in this pack, but not even once Iris regained her consciousness and this was worrisome.
Cane had retreated when half of the warriors with him had died and probably he would be here within two or three days, since they couldn’t go straight to Bloody Wolf pack and move quickly with such number of shifters.
"I am not sure what happened, but she supposed to be fine. The baby is fine."
"And why she has not yet wake up?" Aliana learned from Grace that Iris had unique constitution, where her body couldn’t accept healing power. Some of Grace’s healing power wouldn’t work on her, therefore when she treated her, the healer would go to traditional way, in that case, it was paramount to maintain her health.
That was what Grace had been doing to Iris all this time, especially now when she was pregnant.
Penny shook her head. "I don’t know, Aliana. I have done my best. I don’t know the reason why she has not yet wake up. She should be fine now." She looked frustrated as well.
Aliana closed her eyes and took a deep breath, she couldn’t pressure her when she had done her best. She really hoped Penny would be as good as Grace, but now, the only way to find out about Iris’s condition was to wait for the Serafim to come and check on her.
Aliana had been informed that the Serafim and her knights would arrive today or tomorrow at the latest.
Currently Cane was stuck, but he demanded every single detail of Iris’s progress, though there was not much that Aliana could report to him, yet if Aliana sent letter less than five, there would be a few hawks come and go, demanding more letter.
The alpha really stressed Aliana out and it felt like he was doing that to vent out some of his stress too.
"Keep an eye on her," Aliana said, as she walked out of the room, but what greeted her was this gloomy sky, which didn’t make her felt better. The black rain still poured down from the sky and it had been like this for weeks.
When it would stop?!
"How is the luna?" Joel asked, he stood up from his squatting position next to the door, while Zale came to Aliana as well. The two of them would spend their time here whenever they didn’t have anything to do, some time, Finn and the orphan children would come as well.
All of them still tried to figure out what had happened at that time and how Alan could be there or how he vanished into thin air. Was he a sorcerer? There were countless questions without answer that swarmed in their heads.
"She will be alright," Aliana reassured them, though she was not sure about it herself.
"Then why she has not yet wake up?" Zale asked. He craned his neck, trying to see into the bedroom, but Aliana closed the door. She didn’t want them to see Iris’s condition right now. She didn’t want them to feel more stress and pressure than this if they saw how Iris was at this moment.
"She will, she needs more rest, that’s all."
Right at that time, Finn rushed toward them, which saved Aliana from a barrage of Joel and Zale’s question. She had been questioned enough by the alpha, she didn’t need the two of them to stress her out more than this.
Thankfully, Aliana was there to control the situation and give a clear direction for them and knew what to do with Iris, though it was not enough, but she tried her best to navigate this stressful situation.
"Aliana, the merchant is here! He came with Leros and Clad and also lady Nala. Oh, and that old man too, who always with the merchant. I forgot the name."
Kian glanced at Finn when he heard the names of the people, who had come. Lou’s group should have arrived two days ago, but he was glad they made it.
Finn stopped running in front of Aliana and asked the same question. "How is the luna?"
Aliana was very grateful they were worried about Iris, but this question would drive her crazy. Dyne, who saw this, immediately chimed in.
"The luna will be alright," he said and literally said the same thing like Aliana told them earlier.
"I am going to see the merchant. The healer is inside, tell me immediately if she gave any report about the luna." Aliana immediately left and all of them nodded at her instruction. They felt like they were talking to the beta, since the way Aliana carried herself in this situation almost the same like her brother.
Lou and his companion occupied the other part of the pack house and when Aliana was there, she was greeted by a few complain from the merchant.
"What kind of color is this? This is so ugly! I want red color!" Lou complained because the maid gave him blue clothes, instead of red. He seemed not willing to wear anything than red color and now he was throwing a temper tantrum.
Aliana opened the door and saw the maid tried to explain that red color is not common in this pack and she couldn’t find any here.
Meanwhile, Lou was half naked, he just took a shower and water dripped from his wet hair. On the other hand, Nala and Sabian stood on the side, they seemed tired to deal with Lou’s antics and let him do whatever he wanted with the maid.
"You can go," Aliana said, as she patted the maid’s shoulder. "You two also." She waved her hand toward Nala and Sabian. Nala was about to protest, but Aliana was having none of it. "Leave."
Lou crossed his arms, but he didn’t stop Aliana from telling his people to leave. Knowing his master, Sabian took Nala out of the room.
Now Lou could see how impossible it was when he gave Nala a mission to be close with Aliana. This woman was harder and had a strong character than he expected, which was annoying, since he thought she was only a little personal servant for Iris.
"What do you want? You better give me something red to wear, or else, I will be very upset." Lou looked like a petulant child and Aliana was ready to straighten him up.
"What happened? Why did you just come now?" Aliana had to ask about this first.
Lou rolled his eyes. "Your alpha’s plan didn’t always work, you know. There is this thing that you called as an unexpected event."
"Straight to the point."
"I was attacked by this man that looked like that stupid prince, well, he is a king now."
"Alan?"
"Oh, I like it when someone addressed him by his name only. His current title is too good for him."
Aliana ignored his rambles. "What happened?"
Lou frowned, but he told her about a shorter version of what happened. "And I have to rescue my pet too, since your luna was very neglectful to leave Lil Thing behind. I need a healer to check on it." Lou nodded at a small bear on his bed. "Oh, right. How is she?"
That line of question started to get under Aliana’s skin. "She is fine don’t worry." She moved closer to the bed and stared at the white bear that filled with so many wounds. "This is Lil Thing?"
"Yes, cute isn’t it?" Lou grinned. "You know, I named it Lil Thing because the bear was very tiny when I found it the first time and then..."
Aliana raised her hand, she didn’t come here to hear this story. "Wear your clothes and follow me."
"No. I am not wearing that ugly clothes." Lou was adamant. "And I don’t appreciate your tone." His voice changed when he said the last sentence.
Yet, Aliana had dealt with someone like Cane, Ethan and her brother, therefore, Lou was only another annoying man in her life.
"Fine, you can take off your pants too if you want. You can walk stark naked for all I care." Aliana titled her head. "I need you to see Iris."
Lou immediately took the blue clothes and grimaced when he wore it. He had his back against Aliana and she could see he had an unusual birthmark on his back. She was sure it was not tattoo, since it was the color of red.
"Let’s go!" Lou said readily, he took Lil Thing with him.
Aliana rolled her eyes dramatically. She couldn’t understand why this man was very clear with his infatuation with the luna, he didn’t even try to hide it.
She wondered if one day, the alpha would end up killing him because he crossed the line too far, since Cane had started to show his obsession to his mate now. In her opinion her overprotective and obsession nature were even worst when he was with Leane, probably because of the situation was very different when he was with Leane in the past.
"Why do you bring this tacky man here?!" Zale protested the moment he saw Lou came with Aliana and all of them had to try their best not to laugh with that comment, while Lou really loved to strangle this boy to death.
In the absence of Cane, there were Aliana, the seven warriors and now this little brat. Why there were so many people who were not happy to see him met with Iris?
"I don’t need your opinion shorty, just focus on growing taller." Lou patted his head, in which Zale dodged it and was ready to shift into his beast, but Joel stopped him and pushed him aside. The young warrior knew how hot blooded this boy could be.
Finally, Joel had to drag Zale away with Finn followed the two of them.
"What are you doing, Aliana?" Eron approached Aliana and stopped her from letting Lou entered the room. She didn’t allow them to see Iris, but now she would let this merchant to visit her?
"You are not serious to take him inside, aren’t you?" Dyne chimed in. He was on Zale’s side and wish Joel didn’t drag him away too soon. He wanted to hear how he retorted to be called ’shorty’.
"I am." Aliana opened the door and held it for Lou to come inside first, while the other seven warriors looked at each other in confusion look in their eyes.
However, not long after, Penny came out as well.
"You are being kicked out too?" Eron frowned deeply to see the healer. "What they are doing inside?"
Inside the room, Aliana stopped Lou from seeing Iris. She had put down the curtain, so Lou couldn’t see her.
"For heaven sake! You said you want me to see her, but now this? What happened to her? Is she sleeping?" Lou grunted in frustration. "Iris, don’t you want to see Lil Thing?"
"Don’t be childish."
"I want you to create a portal to the alpha’s camp."
"What?! No!" Lou growled, in one sentence, he knew how it would end up. "Can’t you see? I just arrived. I have not yet eaten anything, have not yet rested and..." Lou seemed to realize something. "You know I am a sorcerer?" he narrowed his eyes.
"I know."
Lou cursed under his breath. He hated it when someone knew his little secret. "Damn it, Cane!"
"It’s not Cane, who told me," Aliana corrected him. "It’s Ethan."
"That’s even worse!" It meant there was another person, who knew about it. This was very upsetting. "I am not going to do that! I need rest at least a month or two. I have depleted my energy!"
"Iris is sick and we need to get Grace to see her condition."
"I need at least, three magic stones to create the portal." Lou changed his tune in a heartbeat.
