Cane knew that Iris was a sleepyhead, she could literally sleep anywhere whenever she felt like it, even on the moving horse. She still managed to sleep soundly.

Her pregnancy seemingly increased that ability. From what Aliana told him, Iris happened fall asleep during her dinner and she needed to wake her up to continue eating.

Right now, she fell asleep, while listening to Lou’s report, as if he was giving her a bedtime story.

"I can’t with the two of you!" Lou grumbled. He had exhausted his energy when he blew up the magical device and created a portal to come here, that was why, he barely had enough strength to lift his fingers, let alone walked out of the bedroom and avoided these shameless couple.

Yet, his eyes softened when he saw Iris’s side profile. She indeed slept well.

"Continue," Cane said, he covered pushed Iris’s face lightly against his chest, leaving Lou with the sight of her auburn hair only, which made the merchant gave the alpha a nasty look.

Cane knew what he was doing and even though they were in civil term, it didn’t mean he would allow him to stare at his mate. His blood boiled with the thought any man had some idea about his mate. He could also feel the anger from the lycan and the urge to tear Lou apart, or gauged his eyes.

The only comfort Lou had was the fact he could be close with Iris. He would find a way to get this woman for sure, only then everything he had done would be worth it.

"You can leave, while you can." Knowing there was nothing he could gain more from Lou, Cane decided to leave with his sleeping mate. He had told her that she needed to rest, but she became stubborn and came all the way here anyway.

Lou rolled his eyes, he wanted to grab Cane and make him stayed for a little bit longer, but he didn’t have enough strength to do so. At the very least, he wanted to be close with Iris, but unfortunately for him, Cane saw his intention from miles away.

Sabian was right when he said Lou shouldn’t get involved with Cane, thinking he could outsmart the alpha.

"Where should I leave when the royal wanted my head? Geez, that stupid Alan would love to play with my head." Lou knew what Alan had done in his secret chamber to those poor people, who became the victims of his twisted mind.

"You would love to play with him too," Cane replied simply and he heard Lou cursed in low voice. "I will meet you in garrison tomorrow."

"Can’t you see I am injured? At least give me a week or a month to recuperate after doing such a wonderful job. Don’t you know it hurt my heart to blow up my own creation?"

"Don’t be late."

Despite Lou’s wails, Cane didn’t seem to care and that was the only thing he said before he left the room with Iris in his arms.

His mate was sleeping peacefully, even after Lou’s shrill scream out of frustration with him. She nuzzled his chest and clutched the front of Cane’s clothes, didn’t care to her surroundings.

Meanwhile, the six warriors behind them found this sight very endearing. Their alpha finally found his happiness again and now the luna was pregnant with their firstborn.

It was as bad as it sounded, but Otis, Reed, Asher and Kian became a little bit more accepting of Iris’s existence and the fact she was their luna, not only because she was their alpha’s chosen mate. She was carrying the next heir after all, the lineage of the northern family would continue.

Cane slowed down his steps when he saw Zale was sitting next to the sleeping white bear, while holding a bucket of flower in his hands.

"Where have you been?" Zale asked when he saw Cane and the other. He immediately stood up and his eyes fell on Iris. "Is she sleeping?" He subconsciously lowered his voice.

"Watch the way you addressed the alpha and the luna, boy!" Reed reprimanded him, but Zale didn’t seem to care. He still not yet learned.

"I come to give this flower to luna." Zale showed his flower. He used to get Iris flowers every day, but because of this strange black rain it was very hard to find fresh flower for her now.

"Give it to Aliana, she will put it in the room," Cane replied.

"But, I want to give it directly to luna Iris."

Cane continued walking. "Then you can wait until she woke up." He then entered the room, while Dyne closed the door and frowned at Zale.

"You really need to learn a proper etiquette, how can you talk very brazenly with the alpha?" Dyne didn’t like how brash this young wolf was.

Yet, Zale simply sat down next to Lil Thing and wait until Iris woke up. He loved to see her smiling whenever he gave her fresh flower and thanked him.

It was around dinner when Iris was woken up by Aliana, she shook her body lightly, because she needed to eat something. She didn’t have her evening snack, since she slept throughout the afternoon until evening, but then it was hard to tell whether it was day or night with this kind of weather.

Thankfully, they got the night right when Cane shifted into his lycan form. The lycan was very docile and kept nuzzling Iris’s stomach and was in his good behavior, as they innocently slept throughout the night.

"Where is Cane?" Iris asked sleepily. She yawned and rubbed her eyes.

"The alpha has left to garrison." Aliana fixed her curly hair, which a little bit unkempt and then gave her a glass of water. "Here, drink first. Your meal will be here."

"I am sleepy," Iris complained, she wanted to skip meal and fall asleep again.

"You are always sleepy. You can’t fall asleep again. Wake up and eat your dinner first." Aliana chuckled to see Iris pursed her lips. Iris favorite things to do was sleeping and asking whether Cane was around or not, she didn’t even read any book recently.

"Okay..."

Iris tried to stay awake when she ate her meal, while Aliana entertained her with what the orphan children were doing and how happy Celia was when she got a new friend.

Joel was not around because he went to the garrison, while Zale liked to be left alone and Haco’s condition was getting worst now, which made Celia was very sad, thus having new friend helped her.

"Zale has been waiting for you outside, he brought you flower like usual."

"Outside? Since when?"

"Since noon."

"And he is still waiting out there? Why don’t you take the flower?"

"He said, he wanted to give it directly to you."

With that, Iris called Zale to come inside the room. The young boy had his head hang low, he looked defeated and Iris thought he was upset with her because he had to wait for a long time.

"I am sorry, you have to wait for hours," Iris felt bad for him, especially when she saw the sadness in his face.

Zale shook his head. "No, luna, I don’t mind to wait for you for hours or days. But..." He moved uncomfortably. "The flowers are not beautiful anymore, luna," Zale said in small voice. "I should have watered them, so they will last for long." He hid the flower behind his back, he was disappointed because the flower was no longer as pretty when he finally could give them to Iris.

"Let me see it," Iris said gently, she was sitting on her bed, while Zale was standing not too far from her.

"The flowers are ugly now."

"I thought you want to give the flower to me, it means, that flowers belong to me, right?" Iris smiled when she watched how Zale looked awry.

Slowly, Zale showed the flower to Iris and they indeed had withered. Newly fresh picked flower should be able to stay for another day, but this one withered very fast after Zale picked them.

"It’s okay, they still looked beautiful. I can dry them and make a bookmark from it." Iris tried to lift up Zale’s spirit and the young boy looked elated to hear that.

However, a second later, Zephyr barged into the room and immediately announced the thing they had feared the most.

"The battle just started! The royal warrior made a move, we have to get ready in case we have to leave!" Zephyr exclaimed in dark voice.
