The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter -
Chapter 538: WHITE LIGHTS
Chapter 538: WHITE LIGHTS
Under normal circumstances, it was not appropriate for Iris to hug another man like she did with Joel, but she had never seen him so down and she did it out of pure instinct, the only thing in her mind was; how to comfort this young warrior.
Joel looked devastated, coupled with him having to move out of this room, it meant there was no hope for his legs and it was confirmed.
In his entire life, he only dreamed of how to be a great warrior and defend his pack from their enemies, even if he had to die, he wanted to die like his father, who died in the battlefield.
Probably, it would have been actually better if he did die when he was in the mountains along with the other young warriors, instead of becoming a burden to this pack.
He didn’t want to cry, especially in front of Iris, but he couldn’t help it. His luna had this calming scent that could ease his nerves and make him lower his guard. It felt so comforting to be held like this when you were about to crumble apart.
"I don’t want to move out, Luna..." Joel cried. Probably, this was the first time he shed tears in front of someone. He looked so vulnerable. He was so young, he had a long future ahead of him, but now he had to come to terms with the fact that he could no longer use his legs and that very thought dreaded him.
"It’s okay... it’s okay..." Iris stared at her fingertips.
"I want to be able to fight for my pack, not become a burden..."
About that, Iris knew how it felt. Not long ago, she was also very desperate to be useful and not become a burden. To a certain level, Iris knew how Joel was feeling right now.
However, suddenly Joel’s body stiffened, he stopped crying abruptly because he felt this strange sensation, as if someone blanketed his body with a warm and thick cloak. He pushed his body slightly away from Iris in confusion and saw these little lights, like fireflies that filled this room, only they were in the color of white.
"Lu... luna..." Joel was shocked, he was not sure whether these lights were a good thing or not. "Wh- what is this? Go, luna! Leave the room!"
His first instinct was to save Iris, just in case these little lights were harmful, but because he was not able to move, the only thing he could do was pushing Iris away from him as he nudged her toward the door.
"Someone! Someone come! Please, save the Luna!" Joel became frantic when the white lights kept surrounding them.
On the other hand, the seven warriors, who had been standing outside of the door, burst into the room and were flabbergasted to see what was going on.
"What happened here!?"
Because the bedroom was too small, only three of them could squeeze inside and watch what was going on. It was Eron, Dyne and Zephyr, they saw how the little lights filled the room like a drizzle of snowflakes and how terrified the tearful Joel looked.
"Take the Luna away from this room!" He was not sure what was happening, but there was a high possibility that these lights could be a result of some dark magic or something dangerous and he was worried for his luna’s safety.
Yet, Iris stopped them, she raised both of her hands and showed the fact that the lights came from her, leaving everyone there flabbergasted.
"What is happening?" Dyne muttered under his breath.
Aside from Eron, none of them had ever witnessed such a thing, as he remembered these were the same lights that the Luna had created in order to calm the spirits of the fallen warriors when they found her in the mountains.
"It’s okay, it’s the Luna..." Eron immediately grabbed Dyne’s arm and pulled him back before he could disturb whatever Iris was trying to do right now.
"What?" Zephyr was flabbergasted, while Joel stared at Iris and then at his surroundings with a deep confusion.
"Lu- luna... what is going on?" Joel then fixed his eyes on Iris’ palms, around where the little lights gathered like fireflies.
"What is happening here?" Kian asked, he poked his head inside, because he couldn’t squeeze his body inside and gasped loudly, causing the other three warriors to do the same thing.
"What is that?!"
"Are those luminous pearls?"
"There is no way luminous pearls can float!"
They were dumbstruck.
"Be quiet and see!" Eron hissed at the other warriors, as they were being noisy and this could disrupt the Luna’s concentration. Hearing that, all of them immediately shut their mouths.
"What is the Luna trying to do now?" Zephyr asked Eron in a very low voice, as he didn’t want to disturb Iris.
"Just wait and see," Eron said with a big smirk on the corners of his lips, as if he knew what he was saying and what would happen, even though he was as clueless as the rest of them about Iris’ intentions.
Frowning, Zephyr didn’t ask further and then fell quiet, waiting for what kind of miracle that the Luna was trying to do. Was she a magic user? How could she produce any light? Wasn’t she a runt?
A lot of questions ran in their minds, but none of them was daring enough to voice it. Moreover, they were awed with this sight. Now that they knew it was not something harmful and this phenomenon actually came from the Luna, they could be at ease.
On the other hand, Iris followed her instinct, what she did next was entirely based on the familiar feeling she felt from the first Serafim. Na must have done this countless times and this familiarity guided her.
She felt the same sensation like when she squeezed Mason’s wolf spirit, only with the opposite feeling.
With Mason, her intention was crystal clear that she wanted to kill him, but with Joel, it was a determination to heal him.
In such a short moment, Iris could feel the pain and the wounds from the wolf spirit when she touched it and this time, she touched it very carefully and created these lights, she remembered what Lu said and tried to do it again.
She was able to feel every light she had created, where she could control them and direct them toward Joel’s legs.
Iris now stood up from the bed and then squatted down near Joel’s legs, as she rubbed her palms on them.
"No! Luna! You can’t do that!" Joel started panicking when Iris touched his legs. Someone with high status like Iris shouldn’t lower herself to the ground in front of a mere warrior like him, if he still could call himself a warrior, let alone touch his legs.
However, Iris couldn’t care less about that fact, she was solely focused on her task. The crease between her brows deepened and her blue eyes dimmed, as she concentrated to gather the lights around Joel’s legs, and when the blanket obscured her sight, she yanked it away, which made Joel freak out even more.
"Why are you all just standing there and staring? Stop the Luna! It’s not right for her to touch my legs!" Joel shouted at the dumbfounded warriors in his bedroom.
