The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter -
Chapter 454: FORGOTTEN
Chapter 454: FORGOTTEN
Sofia didn’t realize until she took a look at the intruder that the scent that filled this room didn’t belong to the Alpha. This was not Cane’s scent, but another warrior’s that she had never seen before.
"Who are you?! What are you doing here?!" Sofia snapped at this red-haired guy. Her eyes widened in fear realizing that a man came into her bedroom in the middle of the night.
She had been a mistress for years, thus she knew this kind of plot. There were so many mistresses who fell into this kind of trap and lost their lives the next morning once their man found out about it. As mistresses, they were replaceable. Most of the time, their men wouldn’t listen to their desperate attempts to explain themselves, that they were schemed against, because even before they could open their mouths, they would lose their heads.
Therefore, to see this red-haired man in her room, she freaked out.
"Get out of my room! Get out!" Sofia screamed, she put her hands over her belly, her instinct to protect her baby. After all, she would be a mother, the gesture came so naturally to her. If something happened to her, her baby wouldn’t stand a chance to survive either. "GET OUT!"
Sofia screamed for him to leave before anyone saw him here, she didn’t want her name to be tarnished or for Cane to know about this. The Alpha just started to warm up to her. She couldn’t ruin this golden opportunity to win his heart.
On the other hand, the man was too stunned to speak. It was none other than Redmond. Avid told him to go straight into the Luna’s bedroom because Alpha Cane had been waiting for him there.
Thinking he would talk with Cane and Iris, he went there without a second thought.
Because he had completely tuned out all the news from the pack house and spent his time at the entrance gates of the pack, he didn’t know Sofia had been occupying Iris’ bedroom.
And so, Redmond felt like he was being ambushed when he saw this pregnant woman before his eyes, not to mention how beautiful she was in her red dress that showed off her body.
Her bulging belly didn’t make her look weird. Strangely, Redmond found her way more attractive than those beautiful women that he had paid to fuck in the capital city or any pack that he visited when on their journey.
Redmond didn’t really remember Sofia, until recently. He even forgot about the night they spent together, since he was more than willing to fuck any women who wanted to throw themselves at Cane, so Iris could keep her man for herself.
Well, he was loyal in his own twisted way...
But, actually looking at Sofia at this moment with the knowledge she was currently pregnant with their baby, Redmond felt something in his chest. He was at a loss for words and tried to discern what kind of weird feeling he felt right now when a flower vase came flying toward his head.
Thankfully, he got good reflexes and caught it before this thing could do him any harm, but then more objects flew in his direction, which made him snap from his daydream and growl at this woman, annoyed.
"Stop it!" Redmond growled, which made Sofia whimper, she was afraid.
"Get out of this room! Who sent you here?!" Without Jemma, Sofia was all alone. No one would support her and even though Maria was so good to her, she still couldn’t rely on that old woman. She also belonged to this pack and her loyalty, without doubt, would lie with her pack. She was devoted to her alpha, just like the rest of the pack members.
"Where is the Alpha?!" Redmond snapped back. It irked him to find her so attractive when she was so annoying.
So, this was Sofia, the woman, who made him a father? Someone who would give birth to his firstborn? A drooling creature, who knew nothing, but crying?
Should he call this their first time meeting each other?
Ugh!
Redmond was not sure how he felt about it, but he really needed to make this woman stop screeching at him.
"Why are you looking for the Alpha?!" Sofia snapped at him again, taking a few steps back, as if Redmond was going to attack her. "Who sent you to scheme against me?! Was it the Luna?!"
It irked Redmond. "Oh, shut up, woman! The Alpha told me to come here!"
However, hearing that, Sofia scoffed. "Do you think you can fool me with that lame trick? Get out of here or else I will scream that you are trying to rape me! I am carrying the Alpha’s first child!"
Redmond was fuming mad when he heard that. That was his child she was carrying, not Cane’s! Why did she look so proud declaring such a thing?
"Rape you?" Redmond snorted. "You willingly opened your legs for me that night, why should I rape you now?"
Sofia frowned at that weird remark, but she didn’t think much of it, brushing it off as him only talking gibberish with her. "Get out!"
"Fine, fine, fine!" Redmond rubbed his ears and then walked out of the room. Avid was no longer there, but he gave him a stern warning that he couldn’t leave without meeting the Alpha. It was the Alpha’s instruction.
Redmond slammed the door shut behind him, annoyed, but he didn’t leave. Instead, he sat down next to the door, like a guard dog, guarding their master.
After all, the instruction was clear that he couldn’t leave and now what he could do was wait for the Alpha to grace him with his presence so he could be done with it and then leave the pack house again. He didn’t want to see this woman.
Even so, the image of her kept replaying in his mind. The silhouette of her body underneath that transparent fabric of her red dress and how her stomach bulged with a new life inside of her.
Ugh!
Redmond frowned deeply.
==============================
"Cane! What are you doing here?!" Ethan was surprised to see Cane walking in the hallway, while carrying Iris, who was wrapped comfortably inside a blanket. She was sleeping, but the Gamma could smell Cane’s scent all over her.
Well, he didn’t need any explanation to know what they had been up to. He maintained respectful distance from them.
"Haco had been crying because you left him alone in the dining hall," Ethan said. Of course, he exaggerated his words, there was no way that old sorcerer was crying right now, if anything, he had been seething and cursing Cane with every breath he took.
"What did he say about Lady Cyan?" Cane asked.
"He didn’t want to say anything and just demanded your presence. He will tell you directly. He refused to say anything else."
Haco was being petty. He wanted to vent out his anger and make Cane come to him instead.
"Fine. Tell him to check on Aria’s grave again."
Ethan grimaced, he knew how much the old sorcerer hated to go to the Goffa mountain, where a lot of monsters lurked in the dark, while he was defenseless without any magic stones.
"I think he will come running to you," Ethan mumbled under his breath. "Cane, I thought you would be in the Luna’s bedroom with Redmond. You called him over."
From the looks of it, Cane had been with Iris somewhere else, having fun on their own.
But, before Cane could answer that, right at the same time, they arrived at the Alpha’s bedroom and Redmond immediately stood up upon seeing the Alpha.
It had been very stressful to wait for him for a full four hours!
"What do you mean by this?!" Redmond immediately rushed toward Cane, but he slowed down his steps and lowered his tone when he saw the way the Alpha glared down at him. Only then he realized Iris was sleeping in his arms peacefully.
This woman! She really could sleep anywhere!
"Alpha, you dragged me to the pack house to meet you, and I have been waiting for hours!" Redmond lowered his voice, but he was still vexed by his current situation.
For a moment, Cane didn’t say anything and only gestured for the two of them to open the door to his bedroom, so he could put Iris down and she could sleep more comfortably.
Redmond opened the door for them and without any other choice, they too went inside the bedroom, waiting for Cane to tuck Iris in and make sure she was still sleeping.
Well, Cane actually didn’t need to do that, since Iris was a heavy sleeper...
On the other hand, Redmond was really impatient to see how carefully Cane treated Iris. It was not that he didn’t feel happy for Iris that Cane was being attentive to her, but he had an urgent business here and the Alpha was busy being all lovey dovey with his mate!
Yet, none of them dared to interrupt their moment.
"Alpha, why did you call me in the first place?" Redmond demanded an answer once Cane was done with Iris.
On the other hand, Ethan narrowed his eyes. He didn’t think this was possible, but he blurted it out anyway. "Cane, did you forget about it?"
"We will talk to her now," Cane said lightly, without answering his gamma’s question.
However, both of them could see the Alpha indeed had forgotten about this matter.
"I can’t believe it..." Redmond mumbled.
"Yeah, so can’t I."
For a rare moment, they both were on the same page.
