Chapter 386: DECRATIC

"Are you sick, Luna?" Jace asked out of concern. He stared at Iris, who just got down from the carriage with the help of Cane. The color of her face was almost the same as her hair.

But, Iris missed the question since she wasn’t looking in his direction. Hearing Jace, Cane pressed his knuckles to her forehead to feel her temperature. It was warm.

This sudden touch made Iris lift her head and look at him.

"Are you feeling unwell?" Cane asked lightly, not looking as concerned and watched how his mate shook her head profusely, as she moved slightly away from him, but he caught her hand and led them toward a small rickety hut. "She is fine," he said to his beta.

Meanwhile, Jace dropped the matter and followed them into the hut, where Haco and two warriors from the Howling Wolf pack were waiting for them, so was Grace, the healer. She just arrived here a few hours ago and started to work with Haco after receiving a brief introduction explaining who this man was.

It had been a few months since the last time Iris saw Grace, but she looked as beautiful as ever, as she greeted her politely and showed the same concern as Jace did.

"I am fine," Iris repeated the same answer, but Grace noticed something else, which made her face redden.

"What happened to your lips? Have you put an ointment on your wound?"

Iris’ lips were swollen and the wound on her lips must be noticeable for Grace to see it immediately upon a closer look. Grace didn’t know what Alpha Gill had done to Iris and probably she would never know about it. She was surprised like the rest to hear the news about how Alpha Cane executed the five alphas.

But right now, the members of their pack were overjoyed with the news of a pregnant woman coming and announcing she was carrying Alpha Cane’s child.

Grace was one of the handful people who knew it was impossible for Cane to sire a child.

On the other hand, out of instinct, Iris glanced at Cane, but the Alpha didn’t seem to pay attention to them, as he talked away with Haco.

"Yes, I have applied some ointment," Iris mumbled, feeling embarrassed and shifted her attention to the conversation between Cane and Haco.

The sorcerer looked so old, his white hair had grown much longer from the last time she had seen him.

"... Like you already know, black magic leaves traces and I can feel it here," Haco said. "Whoever performed it, they left in a hurry and maybe thought no one would find this place at all, so they left behind a lot of evidence." Haco waved his hand around this area.

"What kind of black magic?"

"I am not sure, whatever they performed, it’s a powerful one."

Cane’s brows creased. He then looked at Iris beside him. "Can you feel it?"

Iris nodded. She could feel it, despite her embarrassment, since this ominous feeling had been bothering her ever since they came closer to this hut.

"Aria said she met with a dark sorcerer in this pack when she tried to break the mate bond between you and Iris," Jace said, reminding them of this fact.

"Yeah, probably this is the same sorcerer..." Haco contemplated, but then he waved his hand for them to follow him. "I think there was a pregnant woman here." He took a piece of paper and handed it to Cane. Jace and Iris tried to look at it as well. "Your healer said it is a prescription to strengthen a baby in their mother’s womb, this woman must have a difficult pregnancy."

"The same woman in our pack?" Jace immediately jumped to this conclusion.

Haco shook his head. "At first, I thought there was a connection between the two, but I have seen the woman. There was no trace of black magic on her. She is naturally pregnant."

Grace cleared her throat, as she asked sheepishly. "May I know who the father of that baby is? Or is it Alpha Gallot’s trap?"

"Redmond’s," Jace replied immediately. Right now, the warrior must be sulking somewhere, as he couldn’t find him anywhere when they were supposed to go to this hut together.

"Ah..." Grace mumbled.

"And there is another thing," Haco said again and pulled down a tapestry from a wall, where they could see a symbol. It was a complicated rune.

"A rune?" Jace asked. He was clueless about magic and whatnot.

"No." Haco shook his head. "It looks like a rune, but this is a symbol that has faded too much. If I am not mistaken, since I saw it a long time ago."

"Where?" Jace asked again out of curiosity. He only heard a few things about Haco from the report Ethan sent him, but only recently he met with him in person. "In the Holy Kingdom?"

"Yes."

"What kind of symbol is that?" Cane finally spoke. He narrowed his eyes, as he felt this strange feeling... anger? He was not sure why he was angry to see the symbol. He felt like this was not the first time he saw it, but at the same time, he knew this feeling didn’t belong to him. Was it... the lycan?

Haco looked hesitant before he answered him. "I am not sure, I can be mistaken, since this symbol is in a forbidden part of the Holy Kingdom."

"What are you doing in the forbidden part of the Holy Kingdom?" Jace asked casually, curious about this sorcerer, who had tied Cane with the lycan that originally belonged to him.

"It’s not me, it’s the lycan," Haco replied. The lycan, who told him to go to that part and made him read the forbidden book. "This symbol belongs to Decratic."

"What is that?"

None of them had ever heard such a weird name.

"I have told you about the story of the lycan and his mate. And, Decratic lived in the same period of time as them. He is a mind controller."
