The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter -
Chapter 372: BLOODSHED
Chapter 372: BLOODSHED
Elijah was the leader of the border warriors, these warriors were stationed at every border of the southern pack, but a few days ago, Cane mobilized them to gather in the Riverside pack using his golden stamp.
Of course, Alpha Gill knew about this, but in his mind, these warriors were gathered in his pack to defend him against the Red Claw pack, since he received news about how Alpha Dristan was marching here with some royal warriors, asking for his responsibility for the death of the fourth prince and also his involvement with the lycan, thinking he had a hand in this matter.
Who would have thought all of this was actually part of Cane’s plan? However, with the death of Alpha Gill, the plan had changed and what Sir Elijah heard next made his jaw drop.
"Alpha Cane!" Sir Elijah approached Cane, once he saw the Alpha. He was about to protest, stressing how he was lied to by him.
Because of the golden stamp that Cane held, he could mobilize all the royal warriors as he liked, no questions asked, but what Sir Elijah learned once he arrived was something that made him fume. He was asked to defend the Riverside pack against the Red Claw pack?! His men were trained to avoid conflicts between the packs, not to support one of them.
But, now he was ordered to surround the other four alphas inside the main hall?! What kind of sick game was Alpha Cane playing at?! Did the King know about this?
Yet, before a word of protest could slip past his lips, Cane showed him the golden stamp, as if reminding him of how there shouldn’t be any questions to be asked from him.
"Alpha!" Sir Elijah cried out, but he couldn’t say anything upon seeing how dark Cane’s expression was right now and how he was drenched in blood. Whose blood was that?
"I will only say it once, so listen carefully," Cane said, emphasizing every word slowly, so he could hear him clearly. "You will lead your men to slaughter all the people inside the main hall."
"What?!" Sir Elijah was taken aback with what Cane ordered him to do, he took a step back. "You can’t do that..." But, after saying that, he corrected himself, remembering the golden stamp in his hand. "We- we need to inform the King!"
Cane was not happy to hear his command being denied. He glanced at Oliver, who was standing beside him. "Arrest him and put him in the dungeon. You will lead the border warriors."
"Alpha!" Sir Elijah screamed at the top of his lungs, as he fought Oliver and two more warriors, yet he couldn’t shift into his beast, since he was bound to his duty. It was already wrong of him to question Cane in the first place and he couldn’t afford a second offense. "You are going to kill the four alphas from the southern packs! How will you explain this to the King?!"
No. It was not four, but all five of them, leaving Cane as the only alpha in the south.
"Alpha! You can’t abuse the golden stamp! Alpha Cane, the King will not be pleased with your decision! Alpha!" Sir Elijah was furious when Oliver forced down a leaf of Rottingbane, which could make him unable to shift into his beast, something that you would give to slaves, down his throat.
After that, the two warriors dragged Sir Elijah to the dungeon, while Oliver did what Cane ordered him to do.
On the other hand, those border warriors couldn’t do anything when they watched their leader being dragged away. Even Sir Elijah couldn’t do anything with the golden stamp in the picture, much less them...
With the sudden change of the plan, that night turned bloody. The party had turned into a massacre, where the four alphas of the southern packs had to succumb to their horrendous fate, something they never thought would befall on them when they marched toward the Riverside pack with their women.
Their warriors had the same fate as them, while the women were spared and now they were gathered inside one room, trembling in fear and crying after watching the annihilation of their alphas and masters.
And when the sun rose the next day, there were five heads hanging on the fortress’ wall.
People were shocked and the rumors about what happened started to circulate among the members of the Riverside pack. Eventually, this news would reach the other four packs, as they also lost their leaders within a night.
However, during those events of bloodshed, a certain woman slept through the entire night peacefully. She was clueless as to what kind of fate her assaulter had to face.
Yet, her peace didn’t last for long because once she opened her eyes, all the dreadful things she had gone through came in full force slamming her mind, akin to a broken dam. It was overwhelming, as she had to deal with a lot of emotions at once, the stream of anger and fear came down crashing on her.
However, when Iris thought she wouldn’t be able to endure it, she turned numb. She had this out of body experience, as if what happened to her was something that had happened to someone else and she just watched it happening from the sidelines, as if she learned about it from other people.
Something shifted in her mind and she didn’t feel any emotions.
Iris was surprised, she blinked her eyes in confusion, but then she tilted her head when she felt someone staring at her.
It was Cane. He was standing a few steps away from her. There was silence between them before the Alpha approached his luna.
Cane looked impeccable, there was no trace of blood, nor the disgusting smell of it when he came closer to Iris, despite what had happened out there and the turmoil he had unleashed in the five packs in the south.
"How was your sleep?" Cane asked Iris, he sat down on the edge of the bed, gauging her reaction with their closeness, but it seemed, it didn’t affect her.
"I am fine," Iris replied in a small voice. She stared into his eyes and then averted her gaze toward the window. The sky was so bright, it was a beautiful day, despite the horrifying night. "Something... happened?" Iris trailed off. She thought she would dread the topic, but when she brought it up, she felt nothing.
"Gill is dead... so did all the four alphas."
Iris was surprised when she read it, but she didn’t look too shocked, as she only frowned her brows slightly, as if she heard something unpleasant.
"I will send you back to the Howling Wolf pack with Redmond. Stay there for a while, I will clean up this mess first. You will be safe there and Hanna will arrive in a few days."
Cane wasn’t used to explaining himself. If he was going to send Iris to the Howling Wolf pack, he would only tell her so, but he felt it was necessary for her to know the reason why he wanted to send her away.
"No." Iris shook her head. "I don’t want to go back." She then added. "I want to see his dead body."
