Iris was lightheaded and a little bit annoyed because Cane neglected her and talked with someone else. Not to mention he kept nibbling on her earlobe, which was so ticklish.

The alcohol that Cane kept pouring for her, seemingly was starting to show an effect on Iris. She became a little bit bold when she cupped his face and bit him back. She bit his lips, which made Cane stiffen.

On the other hand, the Beta, who was sitting at a different table from them, had his jaw dropped when he witnessed this.

Cane hated it when he had to kiss someone or he was being kissed, because Gerald had done something unthinkable to him, ruining this particular intimate act for him.

Jace also still remembered how Aria kept complaining because Cane didn’t want to kiss her on the lips. She tried to instigate it many times, but Cane would get mad at her and refuse to see her until she swore she wouldn’t do that again.

And now, Iris had caught him off guard. What would he do? Would he refuse to see her?

Jace didn’t realize that he was holding his breath, waiting for Cane’s reaction. It felt like forever, though the kiss only lasted for five mere seconds.

"Don’t. Bite. Me!" Iris emphasized her words, staring at Cane’s shocked expression, before she leaned over and nuzzled the crook of his neck.

On the contrary, Cane was speechless. He didn’t expect this. It had never crossed his mind Iris would act this way when she was drunk. But, at the same time, he could feel her soft lips and her warm breath linger over his lips...

He used to hate this, but he couldn’t say the same right now. He couldn’t bring himself to get mad when he was the one who had caused this, while Iris started to fall asleep.

Her alcohol tolerance was, apparently, close to zero. Probably, this was her first time getting drunk. Cane took a mental note of that.

"My mate is drunk. I will take my leave now." Cane cradled Iris in his arms and then stood up. He didn’t wait for Alpha Gill’s permission.

"Yes, take your mate and get your test of the curse done tomorrow, we will hold another party when we invite the other three alphas here! You must not miss those women’s services. They will blow your mind!" Alpha Gill guffawed, as he pinched his woman’s nipple harshly, which made her yelp in pain.

Cane said nothing, he nodded and then left, carrying Iris in his arms. Neither of them touched their food, even Jace ate nothing from the table, as he was disgusted by the people in the dining hall, as they kept fucking each other, spreading fluids all over the tables and floor.

Jace rushed toward Cane, once they were out of the dining hall. He doubted if the smell of sex seeped into his clothes and skin and this made him frown hard.

"Cane, are you... okay?" Jace asked hesitantly, he walked by his side and glanced at Iris, who had fallen asleep. "You got her drunk intentionally?"

Cane wanted to find an excuse to leave as soon as possible and also make Iris slightly relaxed because of their surroundings, but apparently, he overdid it and he wished it wouldn’t affect her health.

More so, he caught up with a silly thought of the tipsy Iris. Her face was so red and she looked annoyed, as if she wanted to get mad, but didn’t have the courage, thus Cane kept pouring her glass after glass, to see what she would do when she loosened up a little bit.

However, it was him, who was surprised by how bold she could be.

"Hey, are you alright?" Jace nudged Cane’s arm. "I saw her... kissing you."

"Hm."

That was it? That was his only reaction to that?

Jace studied his expression, but it was hard to tell what he was thinking at this moment behind that cold expression of his.

He became even more curious about what was going on between the two of them. What was their deal?

"I sent Hanna to the orphanage, have you seen her?" Ethan asked Will, after he took great pain to find this man. He had to ask around, before he could find his hiding place, he was sitting on a broken bench, near the river behind the orphanage building, staring at the stream.

However, once he heard what Ethan had said, he abruptly stood up and choked the Gamma, his eyes were so cold and dead.

"What did you say?!" Killing intent emanated from his body. He had taken great pains to make Hanna stay away from him, but now Ethan sent her here?!

"Are you crazy!? Let me go!" Ethan glared at Will, as he tried to loosen up his grip, but somehow, he was so strong and the Gamma was having a hard time trying to free himself, unless he was going to hurt him. That was not his intention in the first place. "What the fuck you are doing?! Are you going to kill me?!"

"STAY AWAY FROM ME AND MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!" Will exploded. He didn’t tighten his grip around Ethan’s neck, but he tossed him aside, as the Gamma stumbled and fell on the ground.

"Fuck!" Ethan cursed loudly when his butt touched the dirty ground. "What’s wrong with you?!"

"Take her back to the palace! Take her away from here! Get her away from me!" Myriad of intrusive thoughts had been running in his mind. He kept quiet all this time because his mind was so loud, telling him to end the pain.

Will had started to cut himself to the point, it took him longer for him to heal than usual, but he managed to cover his wounds, since he was a shifter and all he needed to do was to wait for the blood to stop oozing out.

He didn’t want to kill himself, he only wanted this pain to stop and he was on the verge of giving up by now.

On the other hand, before Ethan could discern what was actually going on, Will had shifted into his beast and attacked him.

The Gamma couldn’t believe he was being attacked by Will. They had known each other for so long, ever since their teenage years, but all this time, people knew Will as a pacifist, he was not a violent person.

Thus, it came as a surprise for Will to attack Ethan first. His reaction was over the top.

The fight lasted for two hours until both of them were bleeding and exhausted, yet Will kept pushing his limits, as if he couldn’t care less if he died in Ethan’s hands.

But, the Gamma was the first to shift back into his human form as he laid back on the grass. The weather was so warm tonight.

"Break! Break! Let’s take a break!" He panted, his breathing was erratic.

Thankfully, Will was not crazy enough to continue attacking Ethan, as he shifted back into his human form again. "Take her away from here, bring her back to the palace."

"And what? Let those mutts harass her again?"

Will froze, his voice was so cold. "What do you mean?"
