Chapter 281: THE SITUATION WAS OUT OF CONTROL

The sound echoed so loud inside the King’s study room when a glass hit the wall before it shattered into a thousand pieces on the floor. It was the King who was hurling fragile things around after he heard what had happened.

His face darkened and his breathing turned labored when he tried to control himself.

Meanwhile, the guard, who brought the news, knelt in front of the King, his head almost pressing into the floor, as he trembled in the face of the King’s ire.

"The lycan appeared in the palace!?" He spat out the words viciously. His eyes bulged from their sockets. He slammed his fist against the table so hard it left a deep dent on its surface. "HOW?! How can the lycan be here?!"

The latest information in his possession about the lycan was; the warriors from the Howling Wolf pack were still looking for the lycan in the Goffa mountain after the cursed creature kidnapped Iris. Fortunately, they could save their luna, but then there was no more news about the lycan. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t trace it.

And yet, the lycan appeared in the capital city. It even showed up in the palace.

"What the hell is happening with all of you?!" King Aeon roared, he walked toward the guard and kicked him viciously, as the poor man flew across the room. "What happened to the protection around the palace?! Will one day someone be able to enter my palace, my bed and kill me while I sleep?!"

The other two warriors inside the King’s study room lowered their heads. They stared at the poor guard, who was vomiting blood after being kicked. They didn’t have any idea what was going on and why the monsters suddenly appeared inside the palace either, as if this place was a common grounds for them to roam around.

As a matter of fact, they had strengthened the protection around the palace, especially the King’s palace.

However, with the appearance of the lycan, the situation turned out to be way more precarious compared to the two attacks of the monsters during the new year.

"What now?! Tell me you managed to kill that lycan!" King Aeon knocked a lot of precious things off the table. He was completely enraged, yet he couldn’t care less about it.

One of the warriors blinked, as he listened to the recent information that he received through mindlink. He shuddered when he realized what it entailed and this subtle reaction didn’t go unnoticed by the King.

"WHAT?! WHAT IS GOING ON NOW!?"

The warrior stammered when he spoke, he blanched from fear. "The lycan kidnapped the fourth prince, Prince Vemion, and now sir Lori is demanding to see you."

Lori was one of the King’s five right hand men in the court. He hailed from the Red Claw pack, which was the richest pack in this kingdom. Their strength came from the amount of the money that they earned through the magic stone mining.

This was one of the reasons why King Aeon wanted to take over the magic stone mines of the Howling Wolf pack and the Blue Moon pack so desperately, so he could have an equal footing with the Red Claw pack.

Needless to say, the Red Claw pack was a pack that even the King didn’t want to mess with.

"The former beta from the Red Claw pack has been informed and sir Lori is still waiting for his reply." The warrior ended his report.

The former beta of the Red Claw pack was Prince Vemion’s grandfather and because Laluna also hailed from the same pack, all hell would break loose if something really happened to him.

"USELESS MUTT!" The King took long strides and snapped the warrior’s head, it happened so fast and the poor warrior didn’t see it coming, but even so, he wouldn’t have been able to preserve his life since the king wanted to kill him.

His lifeless body fell on the floor with his neck angled weirdly. His eyes widened, but there was no more life in them.

"Call Leon right now!" The King glared at the second warrior, who immediately left the room while dragging his fellow comrade out of the study room with the help of the other guard there.

It didn’t take long for Leon to come, he was panting when he arrived and fear was written all over his face. He knew he would be doomed if the lycan managed to break the security around the palace.

And he was not wrong about that, because the first thing that he received was a vicious kick from the King, which sent him sprawling on the floor, while King Aeon stepped on his head. If he put more pressure on it, Leon’s head would explode and the chief royal guard could do nothing but plead with the King for his life.

"You are so useless, but you are still trying to beg me to show mercy on you?" The King asked with a sinister look in his eyes. "How can you explain about the lycan that kidnapped the fourth prince? How will you get my damned son back and appease the people from the Red Claw pack?"

Leon stuttered when he explained to the King he had deployed all the warriors to look for the Prince and even mobilized a lot of magic users to find him as well, yet it didn’t please the King.

"You want to say you have deployed so many people and made the search for Vemion public? Is it your way to tell the public the lycan is finally here and set them in more turmoil? Do you want the chaos in the capital city to go out of control?"

Leon was stunned. He didn’t think that way. "My King... I..."

"IDIOT!" King Aeon kicked Leon’s face, which made him lose two of his teeth as blood spurted on the carpeted floor. "Make sure your daughter becomes Cane’s mistress, or else, I will send you to the gallows." He needed to get a hold of Cane. "Where is Lady Cyan?!"
