Being in slavery for a decade and witnessing despairing things around him and enduring all the worse things that one could only imagine made Cane well acquainted with such things.

This was one of the reasons why he was very sensitive to the change of attitude as soon as Will approached him after the second monster attack. He could tell right away something horrendous had happened to him, so could he with Iris.

There was something off with the way she acted around Prince Kellan, which made him second guess his opinion about the Prince, despite his impeccable image in front of the people.

"Don’t do it when you don’t want it, especially when you have an option to choose." This was Cane’s way of saying that he wouldn’t force her to take the role Prince Kellan suggested.

Iris had a choice to refuse, to not get involved and Cane wouldn’t pressure her to do otherwise. Probably, it was to alleviate his own guilt for what he had done to her in the library, giving her as much freedom as he could give to her.

Though it would set back his plan a little bit, in the bigger picture, it wouldn’t have any impact on the whole thing.

"Think about that carefully," Cane said. He caressed her earlobe, which made her squirm as she caught his hand. He knew she was ticklish whenever he touched her there, but he kept doing it anyway.

Iris held his hand and forced it down, pushing it away from her ear.

"I need to do something tonight and I need your help," Cane continued talking, as if nothing had happened.

"What can I help you with?" Iris’ eyes lit up. This was the first time for Cane to really say that he needed her help, thus she was so eager.

"Mother, it is not fair!" Alan was screaming like a child to his mother. He had been in Lady Cyan’s place for hours, but no matter what Lady Cyan told him, he refused to listen. He kept screaming at her that he wanted those people from the Howling Wolf pack to be punished, for whatever reason.

He was so mad that Cane got his hands on the golden stamp. The Alpha could do whatever he wanted now with the stamp in his possession. He could even order him around, the thought of it alone nauseated him. How could his mother be so calm about the whole ordeal?

"Not everything is about you!" Lady Cyan finally snapped. She was usually very rational and calm, but she had reached her limit. Having an idiot son like Alan was a real pain.

She would rather have a great enemy than to have stupid people follow her because those people could be her doom without her realizing it, as they would dig their own graves deeper and drag her down with their stupidity.

"I can’t accept this!" Alan roared.

A harsh slap landed on his face, which made him stumble on his feet and fall on his back, but what followed after that was something that made him widen his eyes in horror.

Alan clutched his neck, as if he couldn’t breathe. He felt suffocated, as if someone was strangling him and he looked at his mother in horror.

"Talk to me like that again and I will make you regret ever raising your voice at me." Lady Cyan’s voice was so cold, her eyes didn’t hold any warmth, nor did she look like the gentle mother that everyone perceived her as.

The rumors about her held true; she was a witch. She came from the Andelus continent, the same place the Holy kingdom was located. Most of the people there were magic users, but for the people in this kingdom, it was still unclear whether Lady Cyan was a magic user or not.

But with this, Alan was immediately reminded that she was one of the magic users.

"M- mother..." Alan stammered, he was afraid of his father, but he was even more dreadful of his mother whenever she lost her temper. Behind the scenes, she was the one who pulled the strings.

"Get to know that merchant from the Karam continent and get him to your side, understood?" Her voice was icy. There was no mercy in her beautiful eyes.

Alan nodded, because he couldn’t speak now.

The more powerful a magic user was, the more they could conceal their magic power from the others, thus it was hard to tell if there was a powerful magic user in the same room as you or not, unless they couldn’t control their power and revealed themselves.

"Now, get lost!" Lady Cyan released Alan, as the Crown Prince crawled on his feet and arms to get away from this room as quickly as possible.

He dreaded his mother, there was not even the slightest doubt in him that she would kill him if she was really pissed off. There was no one more powerful in this whole kingdom than his mother, as Lady Cyan had the King wrapped around her fingers, though she kept a low profile while doing things in general.

"My Lady." Sarah, one of her ladies approached her and informed her about Princess Osana’s condition. "The curse is acting up again, right now, the Princess is adamant for you to visit her."

Lady Cyan narrowed her eyes when she heard that, but she followed Sarah out of the room anyway.

Black magic.

The magic users, who used black magic were only a handful and she was sure she kept a track, who they were, but for someone to use black magic on the royal family and the fact that she did not know who that was was something that irked her.

Who was this magic user, who dared enough to curse the royal family?
