Iris followed Cane back to their chamber silently, she didn’t say anything and kept her head down. It was clear to see that she was not happy about something and the Alpha could feel that, too.

He glanced in her direction a few times, but she didn’t even bother to look at where they were going and only stared at the floor that she walked on.

It was not usual for Iris to be like this, because she would usually talk about something, like telling him what happened in the main hall or anything. She would try to ask or engage him in a conversation, especially after a big incident like this.

But right now, she was exceptionally quiet.

"Okay," Cane agreed. He assumed Iris was in a bad mood because Hanna had gone missing. He then stretched out his hand so fast to catch something from her shoulder and grabbed it firmly, almost very strongly, which could crush the thing in his hand.

Iris was startled to see his movements, but then she gasped in panic when she saw the lizard. "Alpha! You can suffocate it!" She cried. She tried to pry Cane’s fingers open, but she couldn’t. In the end, she lifted her head to look at him timidly. "Can you please let it go?"

In her subconsciousness, she got used to thinking that when someone was angry, it would result in physical violence.

Cane showed her that he was capable of doing so when they were in the library.

But at this point, she forgot the reason why he got angry at that time and the event had also long been blurred in her mind. For a long time, Iris stood rooted in her place, staring at the closed door. She touched her head. She wondered, whether there would come a day Cane explained his actions, or even had a proper communication with her.

And the image of the way Laluna stared at Cane flashed in her mind, and her mood turned even more dour.
