Chapter 219: UGLY MONSTER

Chapter 219: UGLY MONSTER

"Why not? Red hair, if you tell me, I will give Lil Thing to you!" Lou raised his brows, his eyes gleamed with excitement when he gave that generous offer, even though the generous offer benefited him more than Iris, since it cost a fortune to feed it. As a merchant, of course, this was a bad investment.

However, before their conversation could progress, in the distance someone screamed in fear. "MONSTERS!"

At the same time, the carriage stopped and this alerted Iris. "Are we there yet?" She looked out the window, but the nearest building was still a little bit far away.

Meanwhile, Lou creased his brows deeply. They were inside the protection of the palace walls, how could a monster break through the defense and enter the palace territory?

"Miss! Don’t come out!" Hanna opened the carriage door hastily, as she talked to Iris in a hurry, her expression looked panicked. "Don’t come out!"

"What is happening?" Iris poked her head out to look outside and gasped in fear upon seeing two trolls and a dozen Brinetallons fighting the royal guards in their beast form.

Her last encounter with Brinetallon was when she stayed with Cane in his lycan form and the monster broke through the defense of the Blue Moon pack. After that, she learned a little bit about that monster and knew how deadly their venom was, especially when she had experienced taking care of a victim of their venom.

One Brinetallon was enough to overwhelm four beasts, let alone a dozen of them.

"Stay inside the carriage, Miss! We don’t know how many of them are here! More royal warriors will be here!"

For now, they were protected by the royal guards, but it didn’t take so long to see how those guards couldn’t hold them back any longer. The number of victims on the beast side started to rise one by one rapidly.

Meanwhile, Lou jumped out of the carriage and watched the fighting scene before his eyes. His eyes turned cold to see this, but he was exceptionally calm, there was no fear at all.

"This is not good," he stated the obvious and then approached the front seat to talk with the coachman. "Can’t you take us somewhere else?"

The coachman was dumbstruck, he was petrified, until he couldn’t think straight. And after hearing Lou’s question, he nodded his head profusely.

From the looks of it, the guards wouldn’t be able to hold back the Brinetallons for a long time and they didn’t know when the royal warriors would arrive, thus it was not wise to stay here and wait for those monsters to kill all of the guards and attack them next.

"Get back to your seat, little maid," Lou said to Hanna, as he climbed into the carriage again and it took off in a different direction. "Don’t worry, I will not let you die, at least until I get the answer from you. So, can you tell me now?" The merchant looked relaxed despite the situation outside and this left Iris bewildered.

The coachman took them back toward the King’s palace, retracing the way they came from.

"Red hair, I am waiting for your answer here," Lou reminded her, he was not affected by the dreadful situation, nor did he look wondering about how the monsters could be inside the palace walls. "Don’t let me wait for long, okay? I will not be nice when I run out of patience."

Iris didn’t answer him, but her blue eyes shone with irritation. Answering his question was the last thing that she wanted to do, but he kept pestering her.

Yet, all of a sudden, Lou leaned forward and hugged her, he wrapped his arms around her body so tightly and at the same time, she was thrown out of her seat. Her surroundings were blasted, but Lou pressed her face against his chest and the next thing that she knew, she was in his arms, as they were already out of the carriage, while in front of them was a monster, around five meters tall with small red eyes.

"Damn it!" Lou cursed under his breath. "Red hair, you owe me your life!" He smirked, he would surely ask for repayment from her, since he was a man full of calculations.

However, Iris didn’t hear that, she couldn’t care less about what he said because right now, she was frantically looking for Hanna. She shouted her name and wriggled her body from Lou’s embrace, yet the merchant didn’t let her go.

Meanwhile, the carriage that they rode earlier had been crushed under the monster’s feet, while the horse had runaway, but there was no sight of Hanna or the coachman.

Iris’ heart beat so fast, as her mind was thinking about the most horrible thing that could happen to her.

"Hanna!" Iris called her name desperately. "Let me go!" She tried to push Lou away from her, but he didn’t budge.

"Stop it, will you?! There! Your little maid is there!" He pointed his finger to his left side, where Iris could see Hanna, already in her beast form, fighting against seven goblins! Along with another beast, which she assumed was the coachman.

How could these creatures be here?! It didn’t make any sense at all!

"Now, if you have calmed down, can you help me to deal with that monster?" Lou nodded at the huge monster before his eyes.

Iris followed his line of sight and realized their predicament. That monster had small red eyes that didn’t match with his monstrous body. His fist could even fit two grown up beasts.

Iris was startled, as she clutched onto Lou subconsciously.

"Now, you’re scared." Lou clicked his tongue, but he didn’t let her go, instead, when the monster charged forward, he lifted Iris’ body and carried her before running away toward the woods.

Thankfully, because of the size, the monster couldn’t run fast enough.

"Do you have any idea where your mate is?" Lou asked. "I don’t mind protecting you, but he should deal with that ugly monster!"
